Customs Customs Fees in Australia

Apr 19, 2011

    1. Im trying to find out if we get custom fee's in australia or if we have an exemption like some of the other countries as I have never been charged.

    2. From my understanding, anything over $1000.00 may attract custom fees.

    3. If the package is valued under $1000 there's no fees. Over $1000 it may incur them, I haven't, but there may be someone who has who can shed some light. I've had packages valued at $990 pass through with no problems.

    4. I think too if you have multiple parcels go through customs at the same time & their combined value is over $1000, you will be charged customs fees (I'm pretty sure I remember reading this on an earlier thread about the same question) :hamster:

    5. If it's of assistance, I received a doll that was marked as $650 value a couple of days ago with no customs fees.

    6. there are no customs fees or GST if it's under $1000 including shipping. if you have several parcels shipped from the same place at the same time, they can combine them, if they notice them.
if the shipment is over the $1000 you have to go through a customs agent, so you get fees, GST and duty if applicable. you used to be able to do it yourself, but australia post got twitchy after 911 and unauthorised people (ie the public) are not allowed near the sorting centres anymore.
