Customizing Chat: What's on your worktable?

Sep 28, 2007

    1. This hobby is ideal for DIYs, so I have to ask: what are you working on? Are you painting a doll for the first time? Are you adding elf ears or determinedly sanding seams? Are you making your doll more poseable? Feel free to post work in progress pictures too!

In the two and half years of collecting BJDs I have yet to reach a point where I don't have some kind of project in the works.

      My current playlist:
My Supia Roda and Dreaming Roda heads are mid-faceup. First two layers of blushing have been sealed, next a little penciling. I'm doing the heads simultaneously because it's two heads for a single character and I want to be sure she looks the same!

I have a brand spanking new Feeple Ashley head in mid-modification. I'm raising the bridge of her nose and carving off her elf ears. I'm so impatient to paint this girl but I'm forcing myself to slow down and really recarve the little curled edges of her ears properly.

Alexander, my MsDoll Drayton head is sanded, washed, coated and ready for his first blushing.

I've got a lot of other dolls lined up for work, but I'm not going to include those because they aren't what I'm actively working on right now. Or would be if I weren't online...;)

    2. Faceups for Aedan and John, outfits for everyone.

    3. Doll work is all sitting at the planning stage right now due to: lack of time, weather, equipment shortages (need compressor and new needle for my airbrush), don't have the doll to mod yet :sweat
Though I am working up the motivation to take Tanal apart, yet again, and work on his joints, yet again. It's hard because I have to time it for when I can get help pulling him back together. It may hold to be done at Christmas in my dad's workshop, so I can use his compressor to redo blushing/etc. at the same time.

So, my primary effort is going into wigmaking... which I can do while surfing the internet at work, and pretty much anywhere else as well.

    4. I've got my Mo boy on the table in pieces. His wig has been styled and he's getting his first face-up right now. <3 After that, I'm going to start on some lovely clothes for him. He can't spend the rest of his life in his pajamas...

    5. Elfdoll Lydia having her face-up taken off and prepared for having her eyes closed. K-doll Karon waiting to have his face-up taken off once I decide about his new face-up. A junk hand waiting to be experimented on and one set of hands waiting to be blushed.

      ... and that's it, I think.

    6. Ive just destrung Celsetyn for cleaning in preperation for his faceup. Im waiting for his head to dry propperly and have just logged in to pick up some last min tips for spraying and faceups.

    7. Working on my first face-up on a Gretel head; I've been doing it for a couple of weeks(rather she's been sitting there for a couple of weeks)because I have not gotten eyes or eyelashes for her yet and I don't want to add the finishing touches until I have them so they will match.

    8. gah, what ISN'T on my worktable??

just did a faceup for mizunoseriyuu's School A head, Sei, next up on the list is a faceup for Milk (NS NaNuRi07 head), closing the left eye on two Lu-Wen heads and applying scarring (and then faceups) to both heads, Cair's body-blushing and scarring (Ricky Eliud head on oldskin SD13 long-leg body), possibly a new faceup for Cair as well, a faceup for Xiang (Peroth head), a faceup for Oyu (BW NaNuRi07 head)... and when they arrive, a faceup for Kittywolf's DD girl head, and one for mandar's NaNuRi06 head, and whatever restoration needs doing to Saskyia, my new Rasendo Elf head that will be arriving with them.

      it's a pretty full worktable! o.o

    9. Right now I'm:
-Testing new paints on a junk head
-Designing faceups for two dolls, an MSDoll Tely and Nanu07
-Toothpaste whitening a pair of old CP hands in hopes of getting them to match an AOD body. Then sanding/blushing if the toothpaste doesn't whiten them enough.
      And I need to:
-Wipe and refinish an eye opening on an MNF V. Shiwoo
      -Some planned sewing-2 shirts
-Finish dreadwig-have to sew on finished dreads and make swirls
      -Finish Ani's wig-add wefts

Meh, I actually didn't realize I was doing so much stuff at once =__=;; Things are scattered between my craft room and bedroom so I only see half of it at a time :P

    10. Hmmm...at the moment I have three heads waiting for faceups, but only about a fourth a can of MSC left. e__e; I should be able to buy more in a couple weeks, though. Oh, and one faceup I need to re-do as well.
I also have various half-finished garments (a pair of pants, a dress, and a shirt) I need to finish sewing, a pair of wings in the planning stages, some Apoxie Sculpt I need to learn to use so I can do a couple of claw mods...and as soon as I pay her off, I'll have an Elfdoll Sooah in need of pointed ears, for which I have white Milliput.
I need more days off from work in order to get it all done, I think. XDDD

    11. Ha Ha! I feel that way all the time! :sweat :( :...( I missed a gorgeous sunny day that was perfect faceup weather because I was sitting here at the computer working so my Roda has gotten no closer to finished. But I did get a chance to complete the general mods on my Ashley head. Now I just have to do the fine sanding and she'll be ready for MSC! :)

So tell me, why are you planning to use Apoxie Scupt for claws but Milliput for ear tips?

    12. I have 6 dolls to complete, plus one head {one doll being my Petdoll ant}, and my Ark waiting to be blushed. I will be going on disability for a number of weeks so I might be able to finish them all :)

    13. ...a really silly reason, actually. *heh*
I picked up black Apoxie Sculpt because they didn't have white, but they did have white Milliput so I bought that as well. I was originally just looking for white, but the goth in me couldn't resist buying the black as well, and as the two in question should have black claws/talons anyway, I figured I would just make them out of black instead of painting them. XDDD

    14. I'm kinda trying to make a mini BJD of my original character, and I'm also making tiny props and some little outfits :E

    15. Atm I'm working on:
      - taking off the top coat of Kaito's faceup (leaving the eyes, eyebrows and lips) to re-blush and re-spray it so he's clean for the con.
      - repainting his finger and toe nails black
      - adding a little more detail to Shreddie's nails
      - giving little Seren his very first faceup (I've already been halfway though, decided I didn't like it and wiped it twice now :sweat) but I can't do any more of that until I get back from Sydney because I don't have enough Testors left and I need to go out and get some.

That of course is not mentioning all the sewing I am currently engaged in (both for the dolls and for two con costumes) and the con is only...4 days away now :sweat oh yeah I'm pushing it this time!

    16. Sanding off Bee-A's chest so it can be ryan
Sanding whole body actually so there are limbs everywhere

Sanding Elfyder so I can ship him off for eye mod anf new faceup
      Mid-faceup Bee-a
      Feet to blush :/

    17. - faceups for my own original heads Leif and Oiseau
      - designing clothes
      - resizing pattern for hats and caps

    18. should really finish Basil's faceup and hit it with MSC XD he's just sitting out for Halloween, begging to be dirty. I need to redo Ming's faceup, but all I can obsess about is finding a cheap 3 gallon pot to dye my newest doll in once I get her :(

    19. Too much >.>'

Once Fakia gets home and Nazomi gets his new body I'll have quite some fun things to work on ^_^

~Both boys need to be sent out to be dyed and given claws ( alright, I'm not doing this myself, but the crucial first step before I can do anything myself >.< )
~Both boys will be given permanent fangs
~Both boys will be given ( and regiven, and regiven...) a face up, which includes lashes for Fakia therefore I'm quite worried about that little bugger >.>
~Need to make oxen horns, ears, tail and 'hoove shoes' for Fakia and little panda tail for Nazomi

And as of now that's all I can think of although I know once I get started there will be plenty more x3 I know, it's more of a future to-do list, but a list nonetheless @.@ The only thing I've done so far is sand down Nazomi's nose a little bit and I consider that a pretty good first step xD

    20. I'm waiting on my cans of MSC so I can do my boy's face up, body-blushing and peircings... XD; I'm also working on styling his wig and sueding him, too. XD Yay weekends.

    21. In the interests of using this thread as a motivational tool, here's an update. I finally had some time to play, so I finished up the work on my Ashley head. It took a lot more fine tuning than I had expected and it's not perfect, but I can live with it. She now has human ears and the bridge of her nose is higher, with just the tiniest hint of a bump in it, and her forehead is smoothed down a bit.

After all of the carving my hands were shaking too much (nerve damage) to do the work on my Roda that I had planned. :( I guess next time the weather is so perfect for painting I should do that before I do any sanding!

Oh, and earlier this week I restrung my Pierce's Dolkot body with his new replacement legs and he stands like a rock now! :D

    22. She isn't on my table yet as Volks hasn't sent her, but I'm intending to sand down the cheeks and chin on my new Elena a little for a slightly hungrier look.

Not sure how that'll go. I've worked with pewter, and converted miniatures in white-metal (lead-free pewter replacement). Broken drill bits pinning said minis.

Removed seam lines and flash on resin garage kits.

... never done anything with BJDs yet.

I guess I'll get her, hug her lots, and then either chicken out of the project or drag my husband to Lowe's for a respirator mask and lots of sandpaper.

      - Mel

    23. I have a lot to do! Some things I can do now, and some things I'll have to do after I get my Limho 44.5cm and Li's body... ^^;;

      - I need to give my friend's Soony (awake and sleeping heads) her faceup, I tried... but I was painting in bad light and the MSC was having serious problems sticking, so it looks like crap right now. ^^;;

      - Turn a Kid Delf Cherry into an android, I've already painted her head, but my friend has asked me to add android-y lines on her body as well ^__^ It's a lot of fun! You can see pics of her here: [1] [2] [3] [4]

      - Fix Adrian's (CP El) freckles on his right arm, the coating is rubbing off because of his broken shoulder cup peice, which also needs further sanding to make the break more smooth. @__@ I need to get him a new one of those... ^^;;

      - Li (CP Breakaway) needs his triple Labret glued back on, I think I've FINALLY opened his eyes enough for my satisfaction @__@ he's taken a long time. Also, once I finally get him a body, his body is going to need it's peircings as well. He's got some FUN [read: seriously provocative... ^^;;] body jewelery. He'll also need his body beauty marks =3 I love boys with beauty marks. ^^;;

      - AAAND actually not last nor least... once my Limho Mono 44.5cm arrives, he'll need his faceup. He's a sickly kid, so he gets a fun sickly faceup! Red brown blush around his eyes, etc. ^^ I'm excited!

Mmm... that's it for now I think. I eventually need to get me some junk heads to customize and resell, I'm DYING to do some major mods. I've been aching to create a zombie boy for forever, and I'd love to try an elf as well!

    24. Current Projects:

      1. I just bought a "damaged" NaNuRi 07 head (eyes were opened too wide) and I'm going to try my hand at modding with Apoxie Sculpt to give him back some eyelids. Last night I mixed a little ball of Apoxie Sculpt with acrylics and left the ball out to dry... to see if the color will still match when it dries. Tonight I plan to start the modding. *crosses fingers*

      2. I also have a Vampire Lishe head that I will be modding for a friend when I get enough practice (and courage) to do it. It's had kind of a rough life and needs some repair work... a tooth is chipped, the ears were rounded off a bit, the eyes were opened really wide, and there are some blue stains from a previous faceup (though I'm not sure what I'll be able to do about the staining... I've tried everything I know of that's safe for use on resin, and nothing has taken it off).

      3. I have eye bevelers on order, and once they arrive I need to bevel the eyewells on my Belita (eyes set too far back for my tastes) and my Tender E-an (eyewells are kind of lumpy so her eyes always try to sit skewed).

      4. I also have two heads in need of new faceups, but I'm waiting on some MSC I just ordered. ^_^

      5. When I go to Nekocon in a week and a half, I will be picking up an FDoll Kemi head from a friend to touch up her faceup (the color on the lips is coming off), then I will send it back to her.

      6. And last but not least, I have an OB Gretel head on order for a floating body (yes, you read that right, long story) so when she arrives I'll get to learn how to work with vinyl!

Whew, that's a lot of work! Eventually I need to get some heads for modding that aren't Limiteds. :doh Even if they're damaged when I buy them, I am still a little leery of doing any major mods on them.

    25. Oh dear my Celestyn Ninde is back on my table (or rather on a tray). Hes just been washed and wiped as my msc has arrived. (he had his first ever faceup on for a week).

I need some good lighting to know if ive got rid of all the sealent (i used testors) and the fine detailing on his head is still holding pastels. I think i need to break out a pin.

After hes all clean and blank again its time to spray him with msc and begin his better faceup.

    26. So I finish one Ashley head and what do I do? I order another one! More of the same mods, but this time I also have to close the eyes. I was just too irritated by the differences between the regular Ashley head and the Dreaming Vampire version, so I'm going to make my own. :|
Did most of the work on idrisfynn's Corvi a couple of nights ago - he got a nose job. I like to put the doll back together and stare at it for a couple of days before I finalize anything just in case there's an odd angle I hadn't notice before. Had planned to finish him today, but other things came up and the weather was crap today, so it's not as though I could have coated him for painting anyway.
In a couple of weeks I'll have a body for another floating head, so I really need to get him painted. :o
Hit a road block with my Roda. Damn it if getting four eyebrows to match isn't even more of a pain than two! *_* For whatever reason, I feel like I'm cheating by using pencil, but that's what Yu Jin used on the defaults, so....clearly there's a flick of the wrist that I'm missing. Or my memory is getting even worse and I just don't recall exactly how many hours it takes me to do a faceup.

    27. Right now I'm working on a cloak for a friend's boy, then three matching oufits for my boy and her girl and boy. Then when my boy comes in, I'm going to do his faceup and paint his nails and give him a tatoo! I'm excited! XD

    28. Okay!!! I've done some things since I last posted!

      - My Limho came in, and got... er... 3 faceups I think? I'm not too happy with the one he has right now so I'll be redoing it (will get pics). I've also done a bunch of body work on him, namely sanded away all his little imperfections and got rid of his GIRLY!nails. ^^;; I'm regretting sanding away a cute little mole like bump though... I guess I just got overzealous, haha!

      - Li has another new faceup, although I'm not quite happy with it either. He's also gotten his triple labret back, and I've got more peircings planned for him too. After seeing Lynsey's work on Bonhwa's gauges, I'm DYING to give Li his, as well as his industrial and other ear peircings, but to do so I need to get my hands on some Milliput. ^__^

      Things still to do:
      - Adrian's re-freckelation of his arm. ^^;; I think I'm going to make a freckle tutorial as I go as well.

    29. Hee! Three faceups...I do that too.
The sun came out for about an hour yesterday morning so I dropped everything to coat a couple of heads. So my MsDoll boy has his first coat of blushing sealed. I'm going to do a few coats in pastels, I think.
I've also given up trying to duplicate my former Roda's faceup on the new one. :| Going against one's own painting and drawing style really doesn't work too well, soooo her new faceup will be...a surprise! :sweat

    30. St. James has finished the nose job on my Corvi, so now he's on my desk getting his face-up. I'm happy with the look of minimal blushing on dolls with heavy features or dolls that look very realistic. His eyebrows are very particular so wish me luck in getting them right. :sweat

      Here's a before with a blank face:

Here's an after with a wee bit of blushing:

    31. looks gorgeous, idrisfynn!

well, some things are OFF my worktable, now:

Milk (mizunoseiryuu's NaNuRi 2007) decided he wasn't Milk and is now Sebastian and he did finally get his faceup. mandar's NaNuRi 2006, Jashugan, is happily home with his new faceup (and manbrows). Kittywolf13's DD2-03 head Natsuki is on her way back to Kittywolf13 with a successful faceup as well, after two tries.

Saskyia, my Rasendo Elf head, has gotten an oldskin SD10 girl body, which i modified following ravendoll's tutorial so she no longer has crazylegs of DOOM. the body also got a serious scrubbing and an overnight soaking in OxyClean to do a really deep cleaning on her.

yesterday, we played in the apoxy sculpt, and now Sas has had some restoration done, while Xiang (mizunoseiryuu's Esthy Peroth head) has had elf-ears modded on and Roan (mizunoseiryuu's CP LuWen) has had the left eye closed on both of his heads.

      still on my plate?

more work on Saskyia -- not happy with the tinting match i did on the apoxy sculpt, so i'm going to see how i feel after i do some sanding to even things out. she may need airbrushing once she's had final sanding

stripping Tamsin's limbs to do more joint-mod work and to try and restore detail on his hands and feet

refining wrist mods on ShiFen (DIM Achernar) and doing joint mods for more full range of posing and better stability

basic esthetics and sueding on ShiFen

basic esthetics and sueding on Peri (CP Senior Delf Dion LE)

damn the weather for turning rainy at last... all faceps will have to wait for the rare clear day, now, unless i get really creative in the garage.

    32. Hmm...this is an interesting thread. Maybe i should hop in and be encouraged as well to work on some of my projects. This is all stuff im planning because now with the time change, i have little time to do any mods or face-ups. But here's a list of some of my hopeful upcoming projects:

      - repaint/fix my Doll in Life Rydel's faceup
      - Fix redo my Dollzone Shouyu's face-up (maybe)
      - finish Sebastion my DOC Tender Zen's faceup.
      - re-do Reed's face-up...because it says nothing for his beautiful face.
      - work on my unoa whenever she comes in.
      - do a faceup on my Tender Twin Key whenever she comes in
      - a faceup for my feeple tiny puki sugar. (and all 3 of her face plates.) (when she comes in)
      - a face-up on my Rascendo Touya?...when he arrives from his previous mommy and then see to any possiable mods that will be needing done.

AND i'm working on a joint project with a local friend of mine to hopefully make my own tiny BJD. the Nezomi project. :P so we'll see. :D

    33. Ooh, what legs did you use? My dolkot body was so floppy I had given up hope of him ever standing.

    34. I bought a pair of the new style Dolkot legs directly from Dolkot for about $99. If they don't have them listed in the optional parts section, you can just ask them about it and they'll post them for sale again. I've heard that the new normal skin tone really doesn't match, but the white skin tone is a only little more of a peach tone than the old resin. It's not too obvious and he doesn't stand around without pants anyway. :sweat The new knee joint has a tooth and groove style lock so he doesn't buckle at the knees anymore. :D

This week I'm going to work on refining the little neck adapter I rigged to make my new giant FCS F-30 head work on a skinny necked girl body. Woohoo!

    35. I've just discovered this topic and I already love it. Modding dolls is great. ^_^
I currently have a butcher project I named Draak. He's a Nobility Lie I bought from a friend that was horribly yellowed (the doll, not the friend ;) ). My friend made his eyes larger. I closed them a bit, gave him pointy ears, dragon mods, new lips. Last picture I made of him:
Right now he's an even worse mess. I removed the face-up and tried to dye him, because of the colour difference between the epoxy and the resin. Failed horribly and will redye him some other time, but I need to resculpt his lips first.

      Then I have Orlando:
She's my over the top horror mod project. I'll be adding lot more teeth and I'm thinking of glue mods too. ;)

Bobbie has just recently left my table:
      [IMG] [IMG]
He has a small horror mod with an eye that can be removed and replaced with other eyes. Step-by-step pictures in my LJ.

Then I have a dreaming El head that need his eyes opened just a little and I'm going to mod his ears turning them into pointy elven ears after which he'll get a face-up. Maybe I'll mod his lower lip a bit rounder, but I'm not certain I will be able to pull that off without ruining the head. Draak made me a bit more carefull with my mods. Draak is a junk head, the Dreaming El is not.

That's it for now, though I'm buying eyes like crazy to mod the body I'm going to buy for Einhard, my Lovecraftian horror mod project. ^^

    36. Ugh X_x what DON'T I have on my work table?
-Mod Adriel's (DZ FEI) eye wells so I don't have to fuss with his eyes so much. (also evening out his eyes a bit...they look wierd to me)
-Sand down his lips a bit, that bump is starting to get to me, don't get me wrong...I love it, but it's very hard to paint
-Fix the cracks on the rim of his headcap
-work on my friend's DOC Petsha, her ankles, cheeks and eyes (maybe her nose, she's thinking about it)
-Give Adriel a good face-up and pierce his ears
-Give the DOC Petsha a face-up (my friend decided not to give her a name untill all her mods and make-up were done along with the wig I'm making on the side. Wonderful birthday present, eh?)
-Make mini horns for Adriel (permanent mod)
      -TAKE A REST!

    37. I see, thanks for letting me know! I'll have to check that out when I have spare cash ;)

    38. I'm performing ad hoc finger and toe separation on Tomoe. When my Volks order shows up she's getting her faceup stripped and her jaw gone over with a cera-kanna knife. She's also due for a slight cheekbone job, and then I'll sand her body seams down and repaint/body blush her.

The resin I'm working with reminds me very strongly of the garage kits I used to work with, so it's not intimidating at all.

I probably shouldn't do this at all just out of the hospital (and one day out of the ICU), but I need something to do while I recuperate so I don't get bored out of my skull.

      - Mel

    39. Somehow I always end up doing mods when I'm home sick. :sweat Hope you recover quickly!

I know I said I was going to work on that neck piece, but instead I got all excited about Alexander again and did a little more work on him. :D

I should really be getting ready for Dolpa, but the weather was so perfect for spraying nasty chemicals in the air I just couldn't stop myself. :|

    40. Ooohman XD
luckily i dont have quite the project list anymore
and i dont have a workbench
      i have a work box 8D;

my bigmassive! modding project who was schoo (little DM calvin <3) is now scarily close to being complete after i got him around this time last year 0___0
he just needs some finishing sanding on his lips to smooth out little flaws in the apoxie on his lips, and the crevaces in his ears, wich .... arnt pretty

my juri 06 and kamyu need faceups

AND i just dismantled my new little baha for the first time after three days at home to do some suwarriko mods on his legs XDD wich'll be done this weekend, hopefully, i need the proper dremmel bit and some way to figure out what the best path for the groove
this'll probably entail some thigh and hip socket sanding
and a little bit of sanding out some scuffs of the edge of his faceplate where he took a headdive D: im a horrible owner
i might even blush his torso a bit, saru says i should blush his fat little bum, and im tempted to agree

      AND I RAMBLE

    41. The doctors wouldn't have let me out if I wasn't fine, so I should be okay, but they were worried about my liver and kidney function for a couple days.

I'm not as strong as I used to be - can't lift the 90 pounds and march like I used to, so I'm probably resigning the restaurant job, but working on Tomoe kind of takes the stress out of it.

I didn't separate her toes last night because she doesn't wear sandals much and the Volks foot sculpt is so cute I feel a bit reluctant to separate them - I'm afraid stress from stuffing her feet in big boots might cause the separated toes to snap off - but her fingers are all separated and now only need sanding and seamline removal.

The cheekbone addition and jaw sanding has me a little bit more nervous, simply because new hands from Volks are affordable, a new Elena head not so much. I've sculpted pewter and other stuff, though, so I think I shouldn't have issues with resin.

Having something to do while I'm home sick is really helping, even if it's just putting her new eyes in and separating her fingers and working out a color scheme for her new faceup.

    42. I got Alie's (Limho Mono) faceup redone! Finally, *bigsigh* he's been needing it for a few weeks now. His previous faceup made him look like a drag queen, not the cute sick little boy he is ^^;;. He doesn't look so sickly here either, but it's a much more natural faceup and I like it for him lots. He'll probably keep it a few months this time. Ah, this was his 4th faceup by the way, in case anyone was interested. ^__^

      Here's the pics:

    44. At the moment, I'm redoing Rel's lips because I...kinda messed up the default paint on them, and also because it was sort of annoying me because it just didn't look right somehow, even though I thought it wasn't bad looking. I'm also reattaching a couple of his piercings, as they keep coming off. I've had to use hot glue on his reverse P.A. and part of his navel piercing to keep them on, but I'm not getting that stuff anywhere near his faceup, so I'm just using school glue on his eyebrows. The only other thing I'm doing to him is repainting his finger and toe nails, since the black acrylic is chipping off despite being coated with clear polish. Oh,and I'm attempting to make him some pleather pants from the remnants of a pair of mine that somehow split a seam and were not repairable. I'm hoping they don't turn out too horribly.

    45. What's on my work table right now?

A "Gretel" head, like a blank canvas, ready and waiting for me to begin a transformation. The head receives its first bath to get rid of surface oils. Then, I consult my sketchbooks for my drawings of heads, profiles, and faces to see which one will be the match for this doll's head.

It is just a "Gretel" head right now. No body yet. But I am saving up for a lovely body.

    47. I gave Li a new faceup again... XD

He's all scarred now, and the more I look at him the more I like it. I have some good pics at home I'll upload here in a few days.

Scarring was done with elmers glue, so it's totally non-permanent, but it looks similar to the type of scarring that Nezumitoo does that IS permanent. So it's a great alternative!

      ^__^

    48. i'm making more clothes for my morimoth XD and i'm geting all the colors i need before my two new dolls arrive^^

    49. I'm going to take a bunch of Milliput (or Apoxy Sculpt) to Elena's face and close her eyes a little, for a slightly sleepier look, and add epicanthic folds, since the person she's supposed to be is Japanese.

Oh, and working on the cheek/chin sanding a little more. I need to stop chickening out.

That means repainting her faceup and tone-matching the paint on her eyelids, but I've been using Vallejo miniatures paint lately and that stuff is several kinds of awesome. Good pigment load, fantastic adhesion, nice smooth texture, comes in convenient dropper bottles... plus each bottle is about $2.50.

    53. Oooh, I have been remiss! I've managed to find time to do a few things.

Finished the faceup on my MsDoll #1 head. :D
      [IMG]
Discovered that his secondhand body had surface fractures on the neck. :( I quickly sanded them down so they wouldn't show too much and keep freaking me out, but I have to go back and even out the other side of his neck now. :|

Did a little more work on my Elysium boy body. The forearms are sculpted atrociously long for some reason, so I had to chop them a bit shorter so they'd be in proportion to the upper arms.

I penciled in the new wrist line, scored it with an old etching needle, and sawed off the bulk of the excess. Then I used an ordinary grinding bit to hand start the new socket and carved the rest of it out with my trusty round ceramic knife.

Our lovely winter storms have prevented me from making any further progress on faceups. :ablah: I think I'll be going back to the carving work on my second Feeple Ashley head next.

    54. Managed to get one more layer of pastels on my Roda heads before it started raining again. Bah! Not even worth photographing the progress. I've decided to go for a much darker faceup than her original, just to see how it looks. :)

    55. Currently I need to sand my Unoa's seams and molded eyebrows. I'll also give her a light sanding. Afterwards I'll give her a face up.
