I made a wig for Ptichka Lora who has a small approximately 4 inch head. I've always wondered how to curl such a small wig. A lovely friend told me of another wig maker's technique of using BBQ sticks. I cut the wooden sticks to the size I needed. My goal was to have long, sausage/spiral curls. I did not want the curls to go all the way to the top. Imagine my happiness when, while rolling the hair on the sticks, I discovered that the hair just stays there on the sticks without needing any sort of attachment. After I finished wrapping the hair around the sticks I went over each curl with a small flat iron. It's not a special type of flat iron, it's one that can be found at any drug or department store and wasn't expensive. I let the curls dry overnight (just to be sure they were thoroughly cooled). When I removed the sticks they had to be gently coaxed to let go of the hair. Here are my results. It worked! I'm happy! I always thought a bamboo skewer would be a good tool for curls on small wigs if I ever needed to achieve that look, great to see it turns out so well! What fiber did you use for the wig?
My congratulations - Jay. Wonderful work with lovely appeal I wish I could create something like that.
