Crochet Crochet - Earflap Hat for Larger Dolls

Apr 4, 2010

    1. I finally managed to get up some pictures. I'm sorry that all I really have right now is my cell phone (or my even lower quality webcam...) while my digital camera seems down for the count.

They are very basic, so I'm sure others have done many similar ones on their own. I know I've done a lot of hat patterns like these in adult size that are basically like this. That being said, you can tinker with these two as you want for sure! And if you make alterations for different sizes, please, post them!

If you have any questions, please ask me. I hope these patterns make sense and that you enjoy them.

      EARFLAP HAT for SD
(size 9, will fit 8-9 well and may stretch to 9-10 with good yarn selection)
Yarn Weight: Weight Class 1, Sock / Fingering / Baby / Super Fine
      Hook: US 0 / 2.55mm
This is worked in the round. A good advanced beginner hat pattern!
Stitches: Magic ring (a chain & slip ring may work also), ch (Chain), sc (Single Crochet), dc (double crochet)

      For the hat body:
Start: Magic Ring (or if you prefer, a chain & slip ring)
      1: sc 6, slip together
2: dc 12 (first dc is ch 3 here and onward)
[increase pattern is 2 dc in each sc]
      3: dc 24
[increase pattern is 1 dc in first dc, 3 dc in second dc]
      4: dc 48
[increase pattern is 1 dc in first dc, 3 dc in second dc]
      5: dc 64
[increase pattern is 1 dc in first dc, 1 dc in second dc, 2 dc in third dc]
      6-10: dc 64
[pattern is dc all around, no more increases]
      Earflap:
      dc 8
      dc 8
      dc 8
dc 6 [decrease pattern skip fourth dc, skip seventh dc]
dc 4 [decrease pattern skip third dc, skip sixth dc]
At the end of the earflap, ch 10 or more as desired and add a tassle as desired. Cut free your yarn, and start anew on the opposite side... Your second earflap should start 25 dc away on the other side in either direction. You may feel free to add embelishments and borders as you wish afterwards.

      CUFFED BEANIE CAP for SD
      (size 8-9)
Yarn Weight: Weight Class 1, Sock / Fingering / Baby / Super Fine
      Hook: US 0 / 2.55mm
This is worked as a rectangle, then connected a tube, then scrunched together at one end. Definitely a good beginner/advanced beginner hat pattern!
Stitches: ch (Chain), hdc (half double crochet), dc (double crochet), in blo (back loop only)

Start: Ch 25, leaving about 4 inches yarn or so hanging off the starting chain. Bundle this free yarn up if it is in the way.
-=This is a trick I saw once that I've fallen in love with for tube hats... All it does is save a bit of yarn snipping so if you'd rather not do it you don't have to.=-
      1: blo hdc 25
      2: blo dc 25
Repeat this pattern for a total of 34 hdc and dc rows. sl 25 and end so you have a tube. Using the extra yarn, pull through all of the hdc rows and gather the top together. Chain remaining or knot closed, and hide loose ends. Flip right side out, and flip over cuff.

That's it for now! I have one more that I haven't written down yet, a floral design wig cap/snug beanie in size 10 thread, but hopefully I should have it up soon. I hope you enjoy these and again, if you have any questions feel free to ask me!

    2. I love the beanie! :aheartbea I definitely think this is a must have accessory for my girls. Also, the pattern seems very simple to do. Thank you for posting the pattern!:dance
