    3. Thanks a lot.
In the fist row it result 32 sc, in the second row, with hdc, it didn't result me 64 sc... maybe because what confused me was the hdc, I made just 1 hdc for each sc, instead of 2 hdc in the same sc... that' why XD
now I'll try again, thanks !

(It's my first time XDD sorry)

I'm really enjoy today to do this ... when I'll finish (if I'll be able to finish lol) I'll post the picture here! ;)

    4. Today I almost finished the bodice! :) But I blocked here:

Row 9: (Beading row) ch 5, s I st, dc in next st, ch 1 sk 1, across . turn (25 posts)[

I don't know what mean exactly " s I st" and ch 1, across. Turn (25 posts) - posts are not the same of 'stitchs'?

And about the skirt, what mean V st exactly? It's my first crochet so I'm not familiar how it works.
      Skirt:
Row 10: ch 3, V st (dc, ch2, dc) in each dc across, end dc in last dc (1 ch 3 post, 23 v sts, 1 dc post) turn

Thanks again, I hope don't disturb too much untill I will finish the dress...

    5. I PM'ed you the corrected instructions, and also corrected the pattern that is listed earlier in this thread.

A V stitch is just that-(dc, ch 2, dc) all in the same stitch. It looks like the letter V.

    6. Hello,
I have a doubt: there are crochet thread sizes 3, 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 etc.... but in my country the size of crochet thread are different... in one there's written: "5" ... I would like to know if there any source or conversion table? I search on google but I don't find nothing... I don't know if I'm using the correct size, the dress for the lati yellow seems large: (especially in the back)

the measure of the hook I think it's the same, in the hook I'm using there's written "9"...
Next time I want to try a different thread to see how it will come out the same model.:aheartbea

      Edit:
      I almost forget:

I read that a double crochet (dc) in USA are called single crochet (sc)!:o

so how I can understand when a crochet pattern it's in british english or USA english?
For example if a pattern said to make a "dc" I could understand to do a double crochet, but if the pattern it's made by americans the same "dc" could mean 'single crochet' instead!
      I'm a little confused................. :?

I'm having another suspect: since the lati yellow sp dress crochet pattern was made in USA, I think I made a mistake... because when the crochet pattern said to make an 'dc', I made the dc as it's intended in british english! ;___;?

    7. @soulcalibur33: Yes, this is a strange, true, and difficult fact between British and US crochet terminology. (This is part of the reason I like charts, since the symbology is pretty universal.)
Here is a chart that describes the difference between US & British terms from garnstudio: http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/en/includes/chart_crochetterms.php
Perhaps we should note whether our patterns are in American or British english... Mine are all in American terminology.

As for the thread size... it's difficult for me to tell since I don't have a doll this size, so I don't have much to compare it to.

Does your hook have a mm measurement also? Most US hooks have both the US size and the size in mm, so that you can be certain of the right hook size.
I can say that it looks to be smaller than a US size B / thread hook size 1 / 2.25 mm hook and is probably in the 1.xx mm range. But I can't know what size it is just from looking, unfortunately.

    8. Thanks for the info....
      My hooks don't have a size in mm, the 'brand' of my hook it's 'rose', and there's written only' 9'. Who knows if it's the same 9 of Usa or British? But the problem it's the thread.... it's hard because I don' t know which size it corrispond the thread n.20 in Italy... It's 1 mm or less ? It seems really there's not some accurate charts to do conversions for all countries because seems there's not a standard....and now? I should ask to my stores if they sells also thread in USA's size... maybe they have it... it's the only solution.. or the dress I do in crochet will be always more big or little of the actual project... ;_;

    9. Here is a size comparison chart of crochet hooks:
      http://www.karpstyles.com/crochet/hook-chart.html
The hook used for the Lati Yellow SP dress is metric size 1.15 mm.

    10. According to this chart the only UK size 9 is a 3.5mm hook, which is larger than what you have, so it's probably a US size 9 which is about 1.15mm.

Now for the thread.... There is surprisingly little out there about the actual size of the threads but #3 (sometimes called fashion weight) is about the same thickness as sock yarn/fingering yarn. According to my ruler #10 is about 1mm thick and I found one reference to #50 being as thick as sewing thread.

Edit to add: While I was hunting thread sweetiemom linked the same hook chart. :)

    11. Thanks to all for the support ;_;
My hook it's correct I think, seems it's 1,15 mm. So , maybe I used a wrong thread? I took a picture (sorry the quality of the image, but my camera it's really old... -_- ) , the thread I'm using it seems it's 1mm thick too, (do you think it corrispond with a thread #20?)
So, if I used the correct size, why the dress seems too large? :...(:...(

PS: maybe I made a mistake? When the Lati Yellow SP crochet pattern said to make an 'dc', I made the dc as it's intended in british, maybe was a 'dc' intended in USA?:...(

Sorry for all my questions...but it's my nature :sweat

    12. is there a gauge listed with the pattern? something like 5 stitches equals 1 inch or cm. that might help you to know if your stitches are too big or too small. if they're too big you can use a smaller hook, if too small a bigger one. sometimes you need to use a different hook size than the pattern suggests because you crochet tighter or looser than the author. this can also help if your thread is just a little bit different in size. if there is a gauge listed try different hook sizes till your stitches match the gauge.

    13. soulcalibur33, did you get your terminology straightened out? I've worked patterns in both US and British terminology and they are different. One reason your dress doesn't match the pattern is because a British dc is not the same as a US one. The link Zuks gave you for equivalents is correct - a British dc is the same as a US sc. The pattern you tried is in American terminology. I followed it before myself - I crochet very tightly so my attempt turned out smaller. It fits my puki puki girl.

I think your little dress looks cute even though it doesn't match the pattern.

    14. Hi there I think you did a good job, especially for a beginner! Your dress looks cute. next time try thinner yarn with same size needle! i mainly use cotton yarns 3ply or 4 ply depending on the size of my doll. for the MSD i use 3ply and for the SD i use both!.

    15. thank you for sharing this dress

    16. wow! Beautiful color!
