Crobidoll- Mini Discussion

I love their faces, but I'm not too fond of their hands. I like separated fingers generally, and the shape just seems too stiff and unnatural.

 

i adore the faces, but i have to agree on the hands comment, especially given the lovely hands out there in this size...

by the way, does anyone know what resins match crobidoll's?
it might be possible to get different hands for them?

 

They've got body shots and more photos up now. [Girl] [Boy] I like their bodies, but I have to agree on the hand comment. I will wait to see prices~

I second Anavel's comment... what do they mean by that? If there's a chance to get the outfit I might seriously consider Milch.

Well, this is only a guess, but on Luts' page Kid Delfs are also 36cm tall without a head...and they are 42cm with head. So I think the Crobidoll kids should also be somewhere near - if not exactly 42cm

I think heidi and camille are the normal version of marie and marisol?
If you look closely, heidi and marie are definitely the same mold except that heidi got painted teeth...
and camille are definitely the normal-skinned boy version of marisol (that unique chin stands out!!) ^^

 

lileychristie, Heidi and Camille are the same mold as Marie and Marisol. :3 The difference between those is special skin, since Marisol is mocha brown and Marie white, then also the cute little antlers and default outfit + wig. Oh Crobidoll has such a beautiful tan skin.

So if someone missed the Crobi's pretty deer babies, you can also buy Camille or Heidi!

Also, with a little sleuth work, I was able to locate 12 of the 20 Marisols I am so determined to create a master database of them, haha.

 

Question for you guys. What size eyes are your girls currently wearing? I'm thinking about getting her 18mm eyes because 16mm leave gaps. I think her default acrylics were 18mm but I don't have them any more and I'm really not sure.

 

@Tayder: Yes. Camille and Heidi are the same mold, along with Marisol and Marie. They all just have different face ups. : )

 

Please do! I want to see more of the other C-line girls and boys out there. There's not nearly enough spam of them out there.

Did you get your girl with the default face up or are you going to give her a custom one?

 

: D Thank you! I really was. I managed to get her during the second ordering period, which I honestly hadn't expected. I can't wait to see her face up once you send your girl out. I wasn't too fond of the heavy blushing myself, but the Heidi sculpt is really cute and very versatile. So I really can't wait to see what you have done with her. Really happy for you!!! Who do you plan on sending her out to?

Also just wanted to add that the hands that Crobidoll made for their newer C-line sculpts are much, much better. They're a bit on the "chunky" side but I think they fit the mold(s) very well. They're very expressive on their own and VERY fun to photograph.

 

Has Crobi mentioned anything about selling these guys' bodies separately in the future? I've got a floating head that I'd love to stick on one. * v*

 

I don't think they have. You might have some luck asking Crobidoll if you can buy a body separately on their Q&A though.

I'd like to bring up that Crobi bodies aren't exactly the best posers. My girl was able to stand on her own the first day I got her. The next day I had to tilt her torso a bit forward in order to stand, and less than a week after that she couldn't stand on her own at all. I think she might need some re-stringing but I don't know how to do that at all.

 

Aa, yeah it could probably just use a re-stringing (or even wiring if it's really bad?). It's not that hard, and there's quite a few tutorials floating around. :>

Crobidolls joints are just really appealing, in my opinion, compaired to a lot of other bodies I've seen. Which is the main reason I was looking into their bodies above most others.

 

Oh don't get me wrong the joints look good and the actual body (+ hands and feet) has a very cute look. In fact the Crobidoll body is the best looking body I've had. And actually my Marisol can touch her face so I love her arms.

I'm just very hesitant to re-string any of my dolls because I wasn't able to put a previous doll back together no matter how hard I tried. So I may actually need to learn from someone else in person. DX

Ah no! I had my hopes on a release in white skin . I begged Crobidoll so many times. Don't get me wrong, they are both awesomely beautiful, but...

 

I would only get another WS doll from Crobi if they were NOT in "sherbet white" which I think is part French resin and has yellowed HORRIBLY. I am the slightly disappointed owner of a Marie and I lover but I'm annoyed and sorry I didn't get Marisol, and annoyed because Marie is unsellable.

 

Have you contacted Crobidoll about that? I don't really see a lot of Marie's around so I'd never heard anything about it.

Is it really bad?

 

Chehime - Wow, I had no idea about this! I always thought that Marie looks quite translucent as is always the case with french resin, but I thought it was just standard resin. This is really sad! Marie is such a lovely doll.

Crobidoll just told me that they do not have plans to release Marie in Sherbet White again. No wonder O_o.

I wish I had the money, I might totally try for a Marisol if I could! But it's going to be hard! I recommend to everyone who wants one you wake up before they go on sale Korean time (no matter what time it is where you live) and be ready for a click war.

Does anyone have any experience with Crobidoll tan resin? Is the tan only a surface color or is it mixed through with the resin?

 

I have Marisol and I think the color's mixed through. I haven't seen anything to suggest otherwise, though.

 

@taixonay - Thank you! Have you tried sanding the seams? I always heard mixed feelings on sanding a tan doll...

 

I think even with a completely tanned through doll, you don't want to sand their seams. Crobis' seams really aren't that bad or noticeable.

Every company I know that sells tan skin recommends against sanding because it can cause fading/discoloration. I've only seen evidence of that happening when someone I sold a tanned doll to (one of the recent BC tinies) put it back on the marketplace because she'd botched a sanding job on it.

What Crobidoll better when they released the Marisol, saying that its only of only 20 pieces and then make a re-release?
I'm disappointed, feeling quite cheated.

 

I understand what you're saying piglet11, but these girls are probably different from our girls (and two years later than her).

For one: You can't buy them without their default face-up and both girls have different face-ups than the Voices of Spring versions that released in late 2009.

Their LE outfits and wig price are not included into the price, so the people who are buying Marisol this time around aren't getting as much as we did ($280 -not including a face up, but including the price of clothesand wig).

Also their tans are listed differently and it looks like they may have a different tan color than ours (Mocha brown vs Milk chocolate).

I would argue that these girls are a different set from the ones that were released a few years ago. And Crobidoll does this quite often with their limiteds. The Mikail sculpt has been released a couple of times, but each time he's had a different set-up.

I think you and I and anyone else who bought the first batch of Marisols got the better end of the deal. We had the option of a face-up, we also had outfit and wig included in our basic price of $280. Whoever wants to buy this version's fullset has to pay an additional $120, making their total $450.

 

I'm used to re-releases on LE's from buying so much from Soom and Volks. I think it's safe to say that there will always be more! Except sometimes from Volks But I've rarely felt cheated (mostly because I was on the end of the stick and wanting the LE which I didn't get the first time around). But I understand that it is annoying to buy an LE and then out comes another slightly different (or the same) version.

I ordered Edition A Full set! I couldn't decide if i wanted it or not! But since she is my first MSD, i decided to add clothes + wig option, so at least she is not naked when she gets home! ) Still thinking if i want to keep her blonde! or order a red-head wig while i wait!
Gosh, i am sooo excited! i had been wanting her ever since i joined the hobby 2 years ago! )

I temporarily had my Marisol in a red wig and she definitely looked cute in it! I'd say go for it!

And glad to hear the Marisol love. I'm really looking forward to seeing pictures of the face-up. I got my girl blank, so it'd be interesting to see more defaults.

Unfortunately the wig in the pic was SD sized (8-9 -coughsupposedtobeforanotherdollcough-) so it didn't fit very well, but with a beanie and the right styling and fluffing, she looked really cute in it.

They need to do a tan boy version! In the C-line clothing they have her in a boy shirt and she looks adorable, I want a boy! Oh well, Crobi is stubborn, so I'm not holding my breath lol.

 

I have a friend that is getting Marisol and just turning her into a boy - the body is pretty androgynous so it will work as long as the tops are not to tight

 

well actually if you see it more detail and carefully this Marisol is different from the old marisol ^^

the face up is Limited face up , the sculpt is almost different-ish (i realized the teeth on the new marisol)

i know how it feel that how hard we try to get the LE doll and suddenly it got re-release again but i second taxionay ~

Thanks krolikolik and Eggplant! >.< I usually prefer brown hair on my girl. But I really want to get a brownish red Monique wig for her one day.

And also, these girls pull off the fur wig look really well imo. I plan on getting Curare (my Marisol) a couple of fur wigs eventually, just to switch things up a bit.

@Artemos, I put my girl in a plain t-shirt and capri pants just last night and she can definitely pull off the girly boy look, or androgenous look with the right wig/clothing combo. I can get some pics if you'd like?


@Nami13, I'm pretty sure the sculpt itself doesn't have any changes. The face-ups are different and I noticed that the B-type faceup emphasizes Marisol's lips a bit more. But the only definite way to see is to do a comparison once these new girls come in. But yeah these girls are definitely a different limited set. But I'm glad I got mine during the first run because neither of these face-ups would work for my girl and I don't like having to pay for a face-up if I don't want it.
