[Adopted] Crobidoll General Discussion

Oct 28, 2010

1. Hi :) I've seen threads for specific Crobi dolls and events and such, but not just a general one where Crobidoll people can just discuss their dolls, dealings with the manufacturer, problems with the dolls, good points about them, pictures of joints, body details, where people can ask questions, newbies can learn more about them—all that good stuff! Just a big Crobidoll-owner party  So welcome and tell us about your dolls!

EDIT: Sorry, I meant to specify M-line/R-line in the title . . . That's why I posted it under "larger dolls" . . .

2. Oh thanks for the links—when I was thinking about getting my Crobidolls I was looking all over the place for information, so hopefully this will consolidate things for other people! Once my boys get here I'll also do some posing and joint shots

3. Thanks for starting this thread. My first Crobidoll (Zack) should be here mid November!!! The links are very helpful.

4. Yay yay! I'm waiting for my Nia~ :D

Glad I'll have a place to discuss him when I "have to" leave the Waiting Room. :)

5. Ooh congrats on getting a Zack~
Whenever someone's Crobidoll arrives, they can give him an introduction here! And post lots of pictures of course :)

6. Absolutely do post pics, but remember that for discussion threads you're only allowed one picture per post. What some people do is post one pic and then a link to a gallery thread. :)

7. Sounds good timid, thanks for the picture posting info. I will be sure to post lots of pics of Zack when he arrives!!!

8. Crobi boys are so gorgeous! I wish I can own one! *mumbling about Ys* But my bank account won't allow it right now T_T

9. If I won the lottery I'd probably bring home an Ys, too! I really like him.

10. I'm looking for information and pictures to do with the poseability of the renewal R-line body, or R-line v.2. Is it better than the old R-line body? Does it have the same problems? Any owner pics?

11. My Zack's on shipping :) :) :).

12. I like Ys a lot too :)

Damasquerade, I'll be posting pictures of the new R-line's pose ability as soon as my boy arrives (which should be this week!) I'll post a link as soon as they're up! I don't have an old R-line body, but I know there are threads out there for them—I try to find one to link to next to my link.

13. timid - Congrats!! That is so exciting. I can't wait to see pictures.

14. Subscribing to this!

Crobidoll is really a great company > w<

I want them all!! And I feel like a pokemon trainer xD

I had a Thor head from Jan. 2010 and I have a Lance Head bought second-hand from 2008 (I think) ^___^

15. Maple Syrup Land? Could it be . . . Vermont?? (I'm from Maine but I have made my own maple syrup before  )

Yay more Crobi love! Do you have bodies from different companies that you use for your Crobidolls?

16. Okay, so now that I have both my boys, here are some general observations about the Crobidoll R-line! I'll be posting a link to photos as soon as I get around to uploading them as well . . .

Firstly, their heads and headcaps are very easy to remove! This makes tasks like positioning eyes and putting on shirts very simple. They have a ring in their heads instead of an S-hook, so it's easy to slip your finger into and shift. Nia's ring is a bit more difficult to position than Yeon-Ho's, but his headcap stays on better: there's a resin notch that holds it in, while Yeon-Ho just has the magnet and so it tends to slip off when you don't want it to.

The elbows are double-jointed and quite flexible. The strange thing about their arms is that the left shoulder is slightly larger than the right, so if you spread his arms out, the right can go back further and stay there, while the left will slip forward (this is the same in both my R-line bodies, so I don't think it's just a fluke). Knees are single-jointed but still pretty flexible. He can't completely fold his knees but he can sit cross-legged.

The thigh joints rotate pretty easily, so sometimes his legs get turned around, which is a bit annoying. He still stands well, though. His legs in general swing back and forth when you pick him up, so I'm considering sueding just those sockets to give him more friction there; that's the hardest joint to keep steady when standing him. The torso joints comes pretty far forward but will fall back easily if you jostle him, and it twists very nicely. His head can look pretty much any direction except for up—he can look up a little, but not very high. I'm not sure if this is standard for BJDs or not though . . .

He's got big feet! They look perfectly natural and probably help him stand as well. Ankles rotate side to side very well but don't have a whole lot of up and down motion (still pretty good, though). I absolutely love his hands—they're very expressive and the one that is bent further is just the right shape to snag a human finger and hold on. It's very cute :)

So that's it for now! Other owners, please feel free to add on to this/comment if your doll is different :)

17. Maple Land is Quebec! But its close enough xD

I tried my Thor and Lance on FDoll boy (NS and WS), SD10 boy and DollnDoll Queen bodies. Right now I have a Delf Girl (WS) and a Little Monica Harmony and I am waiting for a DiM Minimee body hoping for a fit ^___^

The DollnDoll was a perfect match for the Thor head but was too pink for the Lance head. The SD10 body was also really great =D
The FDoll was ok for both and I was using the SD10 for my Lance even though it gave him a big head xD

The Delf body is really too small and I did not try the Lance head on the LM body but the resin is no match as the Lance head is a really darker yellow ^^

My Lance head is also a perfect match for my Dikadoll jointed hands (NYS) =D

I have a few pictures around if it interest anyone, but they are of all my dolls...

18. I betcha Lance would look good on an SDGr body . . . ^o^ Too bad they're expensive.

It's pretty normal that the head doesn't tilt back much at all. Not many companies provide really good upward motion of the head. It doesn't tend to be a problem because BJDs photograph better with their chins down than lifted up. :sweat I had a Soom boy, and they're built sort of already with their chins down, but the lack of downward motion was one of the dealbreakers for me with him and I sold him.

With my M-line body, I find that his legs can be quite floppy, and in general he doesn't tighten up that well. I'm pretty sure this is due to the elastic Crobi uses. It's pretty soft stuff. I'm planning to replace it with SD17 elastic from Volks and see if that improves things. I took out the O-ring, put in an S-ring and redid him in a normal doubled-up elastic style (he didn't come that way), which helped somewhat, but I think the stronger elastic will help. I haven't tried sueding him yet.

19. Thanks for the info, Chessaphire! I'm feeling more enthusiastic about buying Yeon-Ho someday on the new R-line body :) Nude pictures would be great sometime if you have some spare time too hehe.

20. Oh I didn't know that about the elastic, timid! Seff (Yeon-Ho) is my first and I've never strung a doll before, but as soon as I have time I'm going to sit down with a reference and take one of them apart piece by piece  I am the destructive sort, hopefully I'll be able to put him back together . . . I'll take pictures of that, too, and try to convince him to pose for you in the nude, Damasquerade :)

21. Putting them back together is pretty easy, so I wouldn't worry about that. Or worry about the elastic if he's not too floppy for your tastes :). It might be strong enough for R-line and just a bit weak for the M-line, or it could also just be my particular lad's elastic getting old, too.

My boy has at last left customs and is in the hands of the post office. I was hoping he'd arrive today but it's looking like that's unlikely considering it's almost 5 now. *sigh* Surely he'll be here tomorrow!

22. Timid-I hope you will receive him tomorrow. My Zack arrived on the 5th, but I'm going to have to wait until I return from my trip on the 15th to have him in my arms...

Be sure to put up lots of beautiful pictures!

23. Waaah, ten days? That's a long wait to see him!

24. I think he is a bit floppy in his legs, but I don't know whether it's normal or not since it's the only body I have. But I want to take one of them apart regardless, just to see how it's done :) I bought some extra elastic as well, so I can swap it if it gets stretched out or anything. I think my next doll will probably be a Ringdoll girl, since they have that great promotion going on now, so I'll be able to compare elastics then! It's nice being home for once so I can work three jobs and earn doll money

And the same thing will happen to me, Amoraseth! My Soom Idrial won't be here until January at the earliest, but I'm leaving the country at the beginning of January and won't be home until May!! I'm going to try to get my parents to check her for me, and then the poor girl will be sitting in her box until I get home . . .

25. ok, am confused so on the site i trust that when you order a R or M line doll you get a body, yes? because, on the page for yeon-ho it says that it is included and then further down is says its not? and if i wanted to could i get just the head? i really doubt the head is 520$

26. A body is included. Yeon-Ho's an R-line, I believe. I suspect they just copied and pasted from another page and got that mistake in there. There were heads offered without bodies at one point, but I don't think they have been doing that lately.

27. Yeah, I asked them that before I ordered and they said Yeon-Ho is only sold as a full doll, so you will get the head and the R-line body if you order him. You can order the body separately under "parts," but not the head.

28. Most heads were available alone in the beggining and you had the option of buying a separate body. I think this was only for Yuna's heads (Yeon-ho, Lance, Thor) and Marcel.

Though they were all made full dolls at some points and the heads are not available alone anymore.
I wish they were still heads only xP

29. Well, got up this morning and found this fellow outside my bedroom door:
:)

30. Thank you every one!
dang that would be so great if they did offer that, it would solve all my dolly woes.

31. Your link isn't working . . . I want to see your photos!!

32. Thanks for fixing that for me. Links haven't copied and pasted right for me lately on DoA . . . >_>;

I wonder what sort of items will come up with the winter event?

I'm a little annoyed I missed out on that trenchcoat, that's right in character for one of my boys.

33. ZACK Spam!
Here are some OK pics of my Shiva! He's finally home:D

34. My god he is gorgeous!! If only he was not limited and still available * 3*

Though the head seems pretty small for the body =B

35. I thought the same thing myself when I took him out of the box. I ma swap the head with the R-line boy I have coming... But it doesn't matter - he's gorgeous!!

36. I want my Zack on (ideally) a Volks SD17, but I wanted the M-line body for somebody else :sweat.

37. Ahhh~ :D I love the new dolls. I never had SD doll before, but I was wondering is it hard to find clothing for M size? :sweat Or does the few cm difference compared to R not matter?

AmoraSeth>He looks lovely ^^

38. Awe, thanks everyone!

Also - Little LANCE!! Oh my freaking gosh! I want him. I never wanted a little guy the way I want him!! KYAAAAAAA!

39. I'm so glad Tei, Do-hu and Jun are not limited...all of them are beautiful for different reasons! Mikhail has blown me away too, but as he is a limited I'll just have to admire him from afar.... little Maru is totally adorable too. I've not owned a Crobi before, but I'll bet they are quality dolls!

40. OMG the mini Lance!!! I find it weird to see him with such a small body xD

I like the new M-line * 3*
Tei and Do-hu are really great!!! Jun too but his face is too round for me xP

Though they should stop doing them all in M-line... Tei would be way better on a R-line body :/

Thank god I'm happy with my Lance xD
And also that most of them are not limiteds~

41. Omigosh omigosh omigosh!

Why are these dolls all so gorgeous?? Crobi, you're killing me... I just bought one of your sweet boys!

I love and hate how so many of Crobi's boys look the same, because it means they're all so lovely, but... I can't buy "pouty, sad boy in R size," "pouty, sad boy in M size," "pouty, sad boy in E size"... :sweat Curse you, Crobi!!

Also... (Normal people can look away now) Is anyone starting to really get the feeling that Crobi is totally targeted at fujoshi...? (I mean, more so than other companies.)

From the cute comic they just released... Click me~
[IMG]
To their one logo...

To the fact that their two most popular doll lines are so close in size that they're practically begging to be paired up together... (Seriously... 63 and 66 cm? That's not two sizes of doll, silly Crobi.)

And now, a (really sweet) body pillow as a gift??

Crobi... why are you so awesome for terrible people like me? :aheartbea

42. OMG! I did not see the body pillow O____o XD
I like the cautions so much XD

Crobi is just too awesome.... and kipiicat; you are not the only one thinking that... seems so obvious it makes the company even greater xD

43. I liked their 'caution' notice too, it's nice to see a company with a sense of humour at least and those body pillows....it's worth ordering something just to get one of them! ;)

I've always thought Crobi leaned toward the same-sex-dolly-relationship thing...c'mon, all those pretty boys?! I guess if I were a girl doll, I might be sad about it!

44. So... wait... over 50,000 won? If I'm correct, that's only $45??? That's practically, like, a pair of pants! ONE PAIR OF PANTS AND I COULD HAVE ONE OF THOSE PILLOWS??

(Man... I'm so creepy. :sweat)

EDIT: D'aww... you have to order a whole doll to get the pillow... Hm. Should I? :sweat

45. Woah!

I would never want a body pillow with a guy on it.... but with a doll that pretty ??
I don't know xD

Ugg.... I wish I could by a new Crobi boy > A<
Almost had a second Lance this week but in the end it did not work XP
Not enough money to get a new guy anytime soon either xP

46. Me too! (lol)

Yesterday morning, I would have had enough for one of these new guys in my PP, but I ordered 2 off-topic dolls before I knew about them....:doh Means, I'm down about $200, but I guess there is no rush as they are new basics. Would have been nice to have a Tei under the Christmas tree though....

47. Haha yeah, I think so too . . . I kind of wish they would release a girl, though, because I really want a girl for my next doll and I love the Crobi face sculpts. But I love all their boys too :) And yeah, those are couples sizes, not doll sizes

I want that pillow . . .

48. Those pillows are really something...but I don't think my hubby would appreciate them much:sweat

Oh and btw - chibi Lance - Kyaaa!!!

49. I am torn between really liking and being a bit creeped out by them. Don't think my husband could say much of anything though, he has girly pillows. :P

Darn it, I wants a Tei now. Eddward's gonna need a friend. Yeah, that's it....

50. OMG that comic is adorable! *_* Now I most definitely have to get Jun!!! xD

lol I'm still iffy about the pillow... it'd take over my bed oAo

51. I would say that Crobidoll definitely as fujoshi in their sights, yes *L*. Volks isn't much better . . . the Williams/Reisner/Cecile storyline is just hilaaaaariously slashy :sweat.

The body pillows are also hilarious.

Crobi needs to put out more mocha skin lads. :sweat

52. I really like Jun, but I'm surprised at his size! When I saw his face I thought for sure he'd be on an msd sized body or something, or, like thor, able to fit on an SD13 or something like that sized body. He's so cute though. But I'm not in the market for any new dolls, unless I win the lottery, lol.

Though, I really need to check out crobidoll more, I love their wigs, and their clothes selection is good too.

AND I LOVE the fact that the company is so clearly run by yaoi/shonen ai fangirls. I wish I worked there!!

53. Oh, I really want a large crobidoll, Yeon-Ho.

Does he fit regular SD sized clothing? I only have an MSD, and she can't wear normal msd clothing.

54. Crobi's R boys have long legs, so they fit long leg SD13 or SD17 sized colthing ~

55. Crobi's R boys have long legs, So they fit long leg SD13 or SD17 clothing~

oh.. I wrote same comment twice... 0_0 !
but I can't find the way to delete miss comment.....=_=
Sorry ..... T-T
