Critique my face up please :]

Aug 31, 2013

    1. I'm trying really hard to get better and could use a honest critique!
I don't mind if you are harsh. I am trying to learn <3

    2. I think the face-up looks great!

The soft blushing around the eyes and under the freckles is very nicely done and complements the resin colour quite well. The freckles themselves are nice, but I find them a touch unnatural against the skin colour, I would suggest using a slightly lighter shade or perhaps a semi-transparent watercolour.

The lips look nice and natural and I like them with the face-up as whole.

The eyes are also nicely done, you did an excellent job of making the line over the eyelid nice and thin. I wonder if you'd like to add eyelashes to the outside edges of the eyes, even very light ones in a neutral colour would add depth to the eyes themselves.

The eyebrows are the most difficult thing for me >_< (I hate doing them and completely understand if you do too :P), yours are nice, but a little dark in perspective of the face. The shape is very nice (I like the pouty feel ^^ ), but I would make them a little less solid and lighter in colour.

The tattoo looks nice, and I like the colour against the grey resin.

Well done Plucifer, I would love to see more pictures of your progress ^^

    3. I think eyebrows are too heavy for this face up. Try to make them more transparent and light. Draw on a background hairs. Not one with a bold line) And as for the eyelids - they should be darker near the nose) Use a mirror and look at your own face shadows)

    4. Thanks for the tips guys! I'm going to redo her today. :]

    5. it is cute!but you should do more practice with brush *means mastering the brush strokes* i know it is frustrating... *been there

    6. I can't tell if it's the pic or what, but the eyelid crease looks a little heavy, and the eyebrows too. the difference in color is missing from the tear-duct area and there are no eyelashes? I dunno if that's character specific or not. I love the freckles though and it flows well :) You get a sense of personality through it.

    7. One thing I've noticed that makes eyebrows so much easier is if you layer them and work thin to thick with the paint. Small detail brushes make things go on a lot smoother too. I like using the synthetic watercolor brushes since they don't have as much of a habit for shedding.
