Critique for Sketch

Aug 24, 2014

    1. Hi.
I am very new to making BJD's and have made two dolls. Now I want to make my third one and therefore made a sketch, but there seems to be something off.

I'm not a big fan of wide shoulders or big breats, but in my sketch it looks a bit cramped in that area.
Any help would be nice :)

    2. :D Hi. Whatever looks off in the sketch can totally be worked out once you start sculpting. Looks fine to me though.

    3. I think what might make it seem cramped is that the upper torso piece just goes straight up and down, great for the room to move but not so much the lower torso as it curves out as it is coming to the upper torso, don't know if that helps
perhaps sketching softly how you think the over lapping is going to work might help?

    4. The eyes are a bit high, as well as the ears. The neck is a bit thin. I'm not sure how making it thicker will affect the overall anatomy.
The ribs area is a bit thin. Again, I'm not sure how alterations could affect the appearance. Also, I think the torso is a bit short, proportionally--and the arms. A female should be able to rest her full palm, from heel to finger, on her thighs.
Honestly, I would begin sculpting dolls closer to life and less stylized, then as you become better at designing them, stylize them more.

      Good luck!
