Aesthetics Critique for my second faceup

Sep 20, 2020

    1. Hello! I would like feedback on my second faceup attempt. She is a warrior queen; the warrior part came about when I was blushing her cheeks and saw scratches on the resin that were too deep to hide. I decided to enhance them as battle scratches/scuffs because I couldn't hide them and I didn't want to try and sand them away.

Please let me know what I should try to improve on or what could be changed.

    2. This is a fun look! The scars looks pretty badass and the blushing is nicely done.
It looks like your lipstick came on quite thick. Did you dilute your paint?
Also you could make your eyebrows' pastel base look neater if you use the corner of an eraser or a silicone brush to clean the excess. I personally find it makes for a more realistic look if the pastel base is less visible and the hair stick out a liiiiittle bit further at the top.

    3. When I laid the paint down, I couldn't get it to be smooth. It was bumpy. I'm not sure how to help that to be honest. Also, I added a layer of shimmer and gloss so yeah, she's very thick :frownyblush:

I will try that with the eyebrows next time. I couldn't figure out what to do to make them look nicer. Thank you

    4. I have a "cheat" for doing acrylic lips on dolls because I'm terrible with acrilic paint,
I hope my instructions are clear enough :sweat

it's kinda similar to this ink bleed technique www.youtube.com/watch?v=XR6FO08PyEE
I start by painting the lips, look at how streaky they look, and before they dry I apply water. It helps redistribute the colour in a more even way. You still have to be careful to not put so much water that it bleeds. You will probably have to gently play around with your pigment so that it is evenly distributed otherwise it might marble or end up with thin spots. you can add more paint into the watery mix until you are satisfied with the saturation. Then set it aside to dry!

    5. Thank you! That makes sense. Yeah, I had that issue so I’ll try that next time.
