Jointing Creating the joints...?

Hey folks, I know there's a picture around here somewhere...

But how do the ball joints work? Is is it just a simple hole that runs straight through the ball?

no. you have to create slices in the ball that run in the direction and depth you want the joint to bend. I'll try to find a good tut for you.
