[Adopted] CP Delf Discussion - Part SIX!

Sep 7, 2012

    1. CP Delf Discussion Part Five. [LINK]

      Where've you been?!

Yes, check out the Feeple60 discussion thread. I don't think the bodies can be purchased separately yet, but that thread will have the latest info on what's available.

    2. Johnny was distracting me this morning. He wants me to buy him stuff. It is hard to resist that little face.

    3. Is the neck on the new F60 girls any thicker? I decided yesterday to take some pics of my Miyu, now that she's on a Delf body (she was on a modded ((deboobed)) Soom Gem body before this, but that's been taken over by another head). I'd forgotten how thin the Delf girl neck was, with that flare-out at the top. Looks like I have to make some thick, neck-concealing tribal-type jewelry for this outfit --

    4. Summer's nearly over here but Ronan's having fun among what's left of our flowers!

    5. Wow, in each photo posted in the new thread, there are flowers of some sort! :D

I have no flower pictures. :/
      But, here's August anyways! :aheartbea

    6. Hehe flower spam XD I wish I had more flowers but I live in a flat and my plants won't flower :| ! I'm loving the Miyus and Chiwoos! I think Miyu would make a great girlfriend for my Hound who's on his way in a few months :)

Rynn007 Yes we need new thread spam! :)

But Johnny is the only Delf I have at the moment so I'll keep spamming him alone for now:lol:

    7. A new thread! The perfect time for my announcement. I just bought a delf Moon! I won't finish paying for him until next Thursday, but I'm so excited!
Oh! To celebrate the newness of everything, a very old picture of Miyu, but surprisingly a pretty popular one on flickr. I kind of like the mystery.

    8. To the owners with boys, do pants generally fit? I know my girl is hard to get pants for because of her booty. Does anybody have pants from Sunny's Wonderful World, with a confirmed fit or not-fit?

kawaii_mon: First off, thank you so much! Second, you're the awesome seamstress behind Dorset? I love your ruffly undies and pajama pants! /endfangirling

Here is my update of my girl Freya, I think Im finally figuring out her style! :)

Ive gone back to her first wig, it's simple and doesnt get messy. Im selling off her other 2, they didn't work out. The cardigan is from Nine9style and Im so inlove with it! (looks much better than in my pictures) Im buying the pink one next, it was worth every penny! The dress is from Sunny's and she's wearing pink fur trimmed release rain boots! I actually splurged on more expensive boots but discovered that the cheap ones suit her better! She does have a new pair of eyelashes, but they're such a pain to put in so Ive been holding off. Now I'm just waiting on one other order from Sunny's, which will go with a top I ordered.

But anyways, thats my Miyu spam. Im falling for this Sculpt more and more every day!
Such a cool doll, def my grail girlie! ~

    10. Hello.

Can anyone point me toward info on the BW batches that went green vs mellowing? What I'm curious to know is how obvious is the green and can it be masked by blushing?

      Thank you,
      ~Shannon

    11. Some cases of BG ("Beauty Green") are slight, some are more extreme.

I had a girl body that had a slight case, it didn't show up in pictures at all, and only slightly in person, but definitely there. It didn't match my BW Lishe head (seller didn't disclose the true color and photos don't show it), so I sold it on (with full disclosure, of course) and it found a home with someone who needed to match a head just that shade.

On the other hand, there are dolls that show as decidedly green even in photos (I think Brightfires has at least two).

Blushing might mask some of the milder cases; the owners of the greener dolls often just embrace the greenness, incorporating it into their doll's character.

    12. I do. Poor Crane and Nightengale are about as "beauty green" as any two CP dolls I've ever seen. :(

This is the picture I usually post when people ask the just-how-green-is-green question...

I honestly hate the color they've turned. I'd replace them both with NS versions in heart-beat if I thought I had *any* prayer of talking Armeleia into re-doing Nightengale's ear mod.

    13. Yea, my first delf was BW and at a convention I noticed his skin seemed greenish in the light.
Luckily he never turned green while I owned him, but it kinda scared me away from buying BW dolls ever again. I prefer normal skin anyways, but I do like the way some BW mellows. :)

    14. Sometimes the green isn't obvious at all except in special circumstances. Most dolls who are beauty green were made in 2005 (approximately). I personally have a BW VE Lishe and she is no where near as green in some lights as my friend's BW Vampire Shiwoo - and we thought that he was a normal WS until she got him a normal WS body.

My BW doll doesn't photograph green, and neither does my friend's Vampire Shiwoo or her BW Minifee Shushu. I can occasionally get them to photograph green if I put them next to a normal WS, but not often.

This is my Beauty Green, VE Lishe with my friend's green (and he is GREEN in person) Vampire Shiwoo.

My VE has been repainted and she looks a lot nicer and her green is even less noticeable. there's a before and after photo here:
      http://www.flickr.com/photos/teapartyrevolution/7028897085/in/set-72157623637352402/

And here's a shot where she actually looks green: http://www.flickr.com/photos/teapartyrevolution/4567372626/in/set-72157623637352402

Oh, and for those who are fans of Yder and Miyu, they have just been re-released in the new F60 line. (along with Rona, Anu (originally F70s), Roke & Siean (originally F65s))

    15. Guys I have a problem! I recently bought a type 2 boy body for my Shiwoo but when I put the body next to my other boy I noticed two strange things the first is that the body is noticeably smaller than my Chiwoo's type 2 body, they both have type 2 body's but I do not understand how there may be difference in size I'm so confused? and the other thing is that he seems to have one leg shorter than the other one., has this happened to anyone else?

Thank you for the help :)

    16. There are differences in size for dolls of the same type from batch to batch, depending on the age of the mold in use at the time of casting. The mold is used a limited number of times because it stretches a bit with each use, then it is discarded and a new one made from the original sculpt.

As to the leg length difference, is there sueding (either glue or pliver) in the hip and/or knee sockets? It may have been done, or worn, unevenly. That is the usual culprit in uneven legs.

    17. Has anyone had a doll with the PERFECT faceup/piercings/etc? One they are super protective of because they can't imagine anything different for the doll? Have you ever had the experience of that doll falling/damaging their faceup? Even in the slightest? What did you do? Did it change how you felt about the doll? did you get it redone? What did that change?

-sigh- Tosh fell tonight. While wearing his glasses. So I rushed over to grab him. and of course he's fallen tons of times. Even when wearing the glasses. but tonight, when I was so sure nothing would be wrong...i flip him over to find awful black scratches all over his face. Some scrubbing with a damp washcloth got some of it out...but the other deeper ones (on his cheeks and right next to his eye) would not come out. So my friend had to very carefully take a q-tip dipped in windsor & newton to clean him off. She was able to get the scratched off with relatively minor damage to the faceup. to a stranger/someone not as intimately familiar with my doll it probably wouldn't be noticed (most people don't realize Tosh has freckles anyway). but to me...I am so beyond devastated. because I can see the missing freckles. I can see where his cheek is cleaner than the other side. and I just don't know what to do. I sent a desperate message to the original customizer to see if there was ANY way she could take him on..and it's true I could probably live with it if she couldn't because thankfully his eyeliner and eyebrows were spared. But I just want to cry.

    18. Oh geez ZombChan, Im sorry to hear that! D':
I really love Freyas faceup because it was done by my favorite artist, I guess if something happened to it I would re-comission her (fingers crossed she'll be doing them for a while).
But, you know as much as it sucks maybe having him repainted might turn out to a good experience?
I hope things work out, it'll be okay. *hugs*

Okay, I have a question for you guys about Delf Nipples...lol!

So, Freya has that Nine9Style top she's wearing in that picture and it's so sheer.
Her nipples show though and as much as I love her sculpting I would like to fix that.
Ive held off on buying multiple tops because I was worried about that.
Ive seen delf girls wearing those little lace slips, is that enough or should I actually buy her a bra?
And if so, what are some stores that carry ones for large bust delf girls? :)

    19. I feel your pain, ZombiChan!

My Lishe has a faceup I love and that is exactly what I wanted for her, but she was done by an artist who has fallen off the radar. So, even though the faceup is now 6 years old I live in dread of the day some major damage happens to it.

But the sealant has darkened, and it might be a good thing to get a new fresh faceup.

Maybe this accident will turn out to be the push you needed and it will actually end up being a good thing - I hope so, anyway!

    20. Kcurry9 Thank you very much I did not know that the mold is used a limited number of times that can explains it!

And far as I can see he has no sueding?

    21. Hmmmmm.... Maybe there's somethung wonky with the stringing that's causing one leg to be longer than the other? Is there a loose end or knot that's lodged itself in one of the legs? If you could post a picture, it might help to figure out where the problem is - if we know where we should be able to figure out what.

    22. ZombChan - Oh no, not Tosh! D: I hope you can get it fixed.

I've had a few bumps and scratches and chips on various faceups. Luckily I've either been able fix them up enough that it doesn't bother me or give them to the faceup artist to fix (having your best friend paint most of your doll's heads helps though!). There's a bunch of them though that I can't get reproduced because the original artist doesn't take faceups anymore, and they're all a certain style. I'm almost at a point where I feel like I need to start practicing and get better at faceups so that I'd be able to reproduce them if and when they need replacing.

    23. kcurry9 - if it's the sealant that has yellowed, there's a way to "freshen up" the faceup. I'm a devotee of BF company faceups and have an older girl whose head yellowed. I did a light area blushing all around with pale pinkish/fleshtone pastels, just avoiding the eyebrows and lash areas. Then resealed and used satin liquid medium to bring out the lips again. It really made her look newer, healthier, and matches her body again. I may try this on my hard-to-match-to-bodies-I-have Delf heads!

    24. Thanks, hobbywhelmed, but wouldn't the addition of more color make it even darker? Or does the new sealant somehow revive the old? I'm not unhappy enough yet to overcome my fear of fuffing it up, but when that day comes, it sounds like a good thing to try before the drastic step of wiping.

    25. I used the lightest tones I had and in a very thin brushing. Also, her sealant wasn't deeply yellowed (I have a DM Pabianne who needs to be de-coated, hers is so yellow, there's no hope of making her head look pure white again.)

It may be worth a try. And since the face is already coated, if you don't like the results, it's an easy wipe-off.

I can't say anything about the new top layer of sealant, if you're talking about MSC. Even tho I have sevearl half-used cans of MSC, I've found myself using my Volks spray more, and am trying out Citadel on darker resins since it doesn't ghost on tans like MSC does.

    26. I use the Volks (ZM) powder spray myself. I don't know what was used on the faceup, I think MSC, but it seems like it has more darkened than yellowed. I'm assuming it's the sealant, but the only way to know for sure is to remove it, of course, and I'm just not there yet!

ETA: Ooh, ooh! I saw the post in B&S about a US dealer for Luts, sent them an email and got a response!

Me: Will you be carrying shoes, wigs and clothing for Delf? and/or Senior Delf? It would be so great to have a US source for these smaller items especially!
      Thanks!

Fabric Friends & Dolls: Yes i will be carry everything from Luts.
They have shipped my order, and I have received the first box.You can check my website, I have the Luts products I ordered.
Of course you can order anything Luts
carries from me directly. If I can help you with an order, just ask

    27. I totally feel your faceup woes!! My first doll, my dear El, has had the same faceup (custom from Luts) since I got him, and I really can't imagine him faceupped any other way. But Luts doesn't do custom faceups anymore, and even if they did, their faceup style has changed pretty drastically from the old style.

I think his sealant's darkened a bit, or maybe he's just a tad grimy, but he's had so much cleaning done to him over the years that I don't dare clean his head too much these days in case the sealant's worn thin and I accidentally damage his faceup. But at the same time, I don't want to keep re-sealing over his old sealant (and I'd have to get a friend to re-gloss his lips each time).

Acckkk, I have no idea what to do. :B

    28. Your Miyu is so lovely, Ebony Rain! And I actually had the same clothing problem with my old Delf girl. Luts actually has a couple bra and panty sets that are super cute and fit Delf girls perfectly. They're pretty cheap, too. My favorite is the shooting star one since it fits great under almost anything. They're great on preventing a Delf nip slip, haha!

    29. re-glossing is no problem at all. Go to any art dept. in a craft store to the acrylic paints. They have gloss or satin or matte finish "polymer varnish" - that's what Golden calls theirs. Could be also called a "medium" by other companies. The Golden brand is a liquid in a squeeze bottle. Just brush it on with a tiny brush (and clean the brush out immediately or it will get hard). I also do the tear ducts with the satin for just a bit of moist-look. Have been experimenting with mixing pastels into the stuff for coloring nails, since it's "self-sealing" and doesn't need to be coated over that way.

    30. Thank you so much, kawaii_mon! I really appreciate it :)

And I'm so sorry to hear about your boy, Zombchan.

Ebony, I actually have a bit of the same problem. I'd go for a full-out bra. I have a thin one and it doesn't do much. :)

    31. Lol, yea thanks for letting me know that the thin ones aren't much help!
I think I'll get her one, Im just not sure about which brand because I know every dolly is sized differently.

    32. Oh, Ebony, your new avatar is super cute! Almost as cute as Freya herself! <3
And no problem at all :)

Also, guys, my Moon has shipped! I think I'm going to name him Augustus (thank you John Green for writing TFIoS and giving me that name) and make him Miyu's best friend :)

    33. Update: this may not be an authorized dealer.

    34. Gotta be the ignore list ;)

    35. Oh thankyou! It actually matches my profile picture. It's how I would like Freya to look when I have her together. It should be easy to get the costume, or something close!

And congrats on your boy! :D

    36. PuffsxPlus Congrats on your incoming Moon! He's such a gorgeous sculpt!!

And while I'm here, I'm going to sneak in a picture of my newest boy, Kellan...

    37. littlegreythings: He looks stunning. I love the smoky-eyed look he has!

    38. i'm debating turn my wintery 2011 event head into a girl what do people think?"

    39. arlais - Of course it's up to you, but I'm personally a very visual person, so pictures would help ^^;

    40. Isn't that a SDF/JDF head? (I don't remember it specifically, sorry)

    41. Fun idea, but since that isn't a delf head you should probably talk about it in the Jr delf or senior delf threads.

    42. Just went to Luts to check - yeah, the 2011 winter event head is a Luts product. The page says it's compatible from JDF through SSDF!

I checked the SDF page first - is it just a trick of positioning, or doesn't the SFF Thanos look like a more mature Shiwoo?

    43. I thought those promo pics made him look like Shiwoo too, but user pics don't look like him at all.

    44. Thanks for that link! Yeah, he doesn't look Shiwooish in the owner pics (actually, in that threads he looks like the latest tan Volks boy that recently came out!). Lol, even with company pictures, sometimes we're still choosing blind!

    45. Ebony Rain and PuffsxPlus Thank you both!!

I have a question, hopefully someone can help me with an answer. I've got a Lu-wen head on the way soon (yay!) and I've been told his head is a bit smaller than most Delfs. Will he still fit in a 9-10" wig okay, or should I be looking for 8-9" instead?

    46. My Lu-Wen wears an 8-9 with a silicone cap. 9-10 wigs are huge on the poor boy.

    47. 8-9, definitely, if a stretch-cap fiber wig. The only Delf heads I've needed to go up a wig size are the very oldest heads. Unless you're looking for something with a non-stretch base, like Tibetan wool or fake-fur. In those cases, get the wig made by someone who does extra size points and just tell them it's for a Delf, or measure the head around for them.

    48. Thank you both! 8-9 it is! I'm planning on a fiber wig for him, so that's good to know! Hehe, should be fun to see him with all my melon-headed Els ;)

    49. I decided I liked my Nanuri head on my Delf body instead.
So, here is my modded F60/Delf hybrid, Shinka.

    50. She's so cute. I can't wait to shoot her with my LuWen :D

    51. I am Excited to get my Delf Moon as well :D, his name is Seiji. and he will look like the moonphase character :D such a gorgeous boy indeed. Ohy I am going to have to find a bunch of clothes for this big boy. My 2 Kid Delfs are guna need clothing now too.

    52. So I have what may be a silly question. Has anyone taken, or tried to take, the little piece in the chest that makes it so the delf body can't bend forward of back out? And if so do you think it is an improvement, or does the back not stay straight anymore? Any input is helpful, The fact that my girl can't slouch is really starting to bug me.

    53. I think you will find these helpful:

Made my Luts Girl slouch - mod lishe update 4/19

Mod Luts boy - mobility/ slouch mod update 4/19

    54. *unlurks* I'm playing catch-up. :sweat

Honestly, I REALLY want a BG Delf! (>_>) There's this one beauty green vampire Shiwoo I've been eyeing in the MP :drool but I'd have to get the money for him or do a layaway. He is exactly what I've been looking for, even my favorite scuplt!

I know you may hate that fact that your two BWs are now BG, but I can honestly say that I envy you for having them. :3nodding:

I have a friend that took it down to around a half inch, and except for the fact that when you pick him up he gets gappy, (he's too loosely strung if you ask me) I think its a brilliant job!

Unfortunately, she didn't leave a back piece so that he can hold his slouch, but he's still really mobile to the side and slouches beautifully.

Shiwoo spam! A pic of Ryuichi I took wearing his concert outfit. :love

    55. CathyM - I adore her! Great job :)

UltraMarine - there's nothing like getting a new doll, amiright? <3

Guys, Augustus is here! I'm at school between classes so my connection is too slow to bother to try and put a picture here, but I'll be sure to later. He is so handsome!

    56. Yay for Shiwoo spam! I love Ryuichi :)

      Here's some random Johnny spam.

    57. Just a quick question for any of you fellow Fdoll hybrider's, does anyone know of a good place to buy some jeans? Just regular fitted dark jeans, but ones that fit nicely. I'm rather inexperienced when it comes to shopping for boys, whether the Fdoll body is closer to the type 1 or type 3, etc.. Any help is welcomed! ^_^

    58. Wicked Stitchery makes some great ones. Nine9 Style...Volks!
