Contest Couture Contest: The Un/Lucky Cat - Winners Announced!

Jul 31, 2016

    1. Congrats to all the winners! Everyone's costumes looked great.

If anyone wants to know mine was #30, the one with the pink ruffly dress.

    2. Congratulations to all the winners, but also to everyone who participated! It was such a fun contest and I loved both seeing everyone's entries and working on my own (it was #24). :)

    3. Congratulations to the winners, they are all really stunning!

It was funny seeing several other maneki-neko designs, though I guess it was a natural choice for a "lucky cat" theme. :kitty2 Mine was the white hoodie with the gold coin backpack (#36). I was a little disappointed with the main outfit because I had a lot of technical difficulties and no time to fix them (for example, accidentally bought a non-separating zipper, so the hoodie doesn't open at the bottom...), but the backpack came out just how I wanted, so I'm happy about that. :thumbup

    4. What a huge surprise for my husband and I when we checked the voting results for the Cat Couture contest this morning! We had been super busy making emergency repairs to Poca's fencing and didn't have a chance to look until today. Thank you to all who voted for my wishes Cat! I can't believe she came in second place! I absolutely loved this contest. The theme was so much fun and I enjoyed every moment working on my entry. I'm way behind on faceups so I had to give Wishes hers one day before the contest closed. I was a bit stressed for sure.

I'm humbled by the creative imaginations of all of the other contestants. Every cat was unique! Some were enchanting, some were mysterious, some were elegant, delicate, cute and subtle. There are many adjectives that could be used to describe each and every entry. I truly loved them all. Congratulations to the other winners and especially to the first place entry by AyuAna. Magnificent! I've been a fan and follower for a long time!

Thank you to the moderators for their time and effort in making all of the contests happen again this year. I've entered in previous years but never placed and one year I tried the triathlon but I only made it through the second phase. It takes so much effort. Congratulations to all the winners and entrants in all of the contests.

I'd like to extend a special thank you to the people who donated the beautiful prizes. Whichever doll I receive will have a special place in my heart because I love everyone of them and have actually looked into buying each one! The doll will also be forever special because of how meaningful this contest was to me. The theme was great and I was able to use fabrics and embellishments that I had saved for several years because I loved them so much and was afraid of ruining them.

Next year will offer more excitement and new challenges. I'm already looking forward to seeing what the moderators come up with and what the entries will be. The couture contest has always been my favorite and I look forward to participating for fun in the years ahead. Thank you to everyone involved and to the lovely BJD community for being who you are!

    5. Oh my, thank You soooooo much! Especially that Your cat costume was my favorite! I voted for Your entry and kept my fingers crossed that You could win something! <3 The concept was simply amazing for me, all the ethinic details and colors were outstanding. Splendid job!

    6. Thank you . I worried because the photos were so bad. I had to use my iPad. How did you get such good pictures? I voted for yours too. The details are beautiful.

    7. Now that we have heard back from all of the winners, I will be letting you know who has taken which prize a bit later today.

(I am on the road post LA Dolpa, but as soon as I am settled in I will catch up!)

    8. Thank You! Your pictures were not so bad at all! Mine had been made with Pentax k-r camera, it has few fine years and the quality of the pictures is not as I would wish for, but it is not dramatic either... I also think that the background of the doll is very important, so that I have made all those pillows, the white violins, wool skirts and cat bowl with water specially for this contest to present my cat in his "natural environment" ;)

    9. Just to update!

All winners have claimed their prizes, and as luck would have it, every single winner got their first choice of dolls!!
This never happens, so I thought I'd give it a mention. It's nice to know that each doll is number one for their new owners~

Congrats again to the winners and a huge round of applause for everyone who entered and made this a real competition! I hope all of you who did not place this year return to compete for the 14th Anniversary Couture Contest~

    12. That's so cool and it is like a miracle. We could all use a smile after Harvey and Irma. I hope all faired well during the storms.
