There are many, many characters I love and which I think would be fun to make as dolls. There is also only so much space inside my home. The solution I came up with was to designate two of my dolls to be cosplayers. One is a minifee juri 20 on a myoudoll body, the other is a boy unoa. That way I can do characters with and without big breasts. My plan is not to do any of these characters as 100% accurate representation. The two dolls have their own personality and quirks which will remain (aka I'm not changing their faceups). This is just the best solution I've found to have fun with a lot of characters without buying a billion dolls Link to the cosplays [to be added as I work on them/finish them]
I figured I'd start with something easy, and do Luffy from One Piece, specifically his outfit during the East Blue arcs, because it doesn't get simpler than that: shorts, a vest, a hat, sandals Good thing I start easy because I encountered many problems lol I lost pieces of fabric I'd cut, the shorts were way too wide (even though the pattern is made for Unoa?? I must have traced it wrong when I originally did that months ago). A lot of little misadventures, but in the end I think it worked out ok. Next step is to style a short wig I found lying around, make his straw hat, and make him sandals.
I honestly have a folder of screenshots, 3d renders, and concept art for various characters specifically so I can better understand the outfits for the purposes of dolly cosplay! Not for my tinies of course, but it was also the only way I could justify having character dolls without taking up my already limited space. Luffy is a great start! It's such a simple design but it's also iconic and easily recognizable, so it's the perfect starting position to dip your toes into the doll cosplay world. And the vest turned out great, the lining looks nice and snug and will prevent the vibrant red from staining the doll. Perfect start, no notes!
