woah I love their mantis body so much! everytime I see it I like it more haha I really hope I can snag a red resin Amber if I can find them on the second market, or if coral reef decide to open orders again~ Moxy is so cute, I think the wig fits really well!

I'm somewhat surprised to see that the 14mm eyes fit so well, I thought that maybe they would need 12mm since their eyes seem a bit smaller than standard ~45cm dolls

it also looks like coral reef's bodies are all quite thin, I've seen that they they can wear ~30cm clothing (dresses that fit their torsos basically

I'm also struck by the photos! Especially the abandoned wreckage look - I may have to crib that for a potential face up. I swore off new dolls this year but she is striking!!

The image should be self explanatory. Translation of the dimensions in the top right corner...
- Head circumference: 17.7cm
- Neck circumference: 6.2cm
- Shoulder width including arms: 8.5cm

Yes, it was definitely a trial and error process to find just the right fit and size. I had to just try a bunch of blanks in each eyewell set to see what fit.

Here's the sizes I made:
Upper set: 10mm - small iris
Lower set: 14mm - small iris

 

hello! is anyone else still waiting on their mantis girl(s) to come in?

I'm still waiting for a mantis opal and a moth mask, both in white. I started a layaway in April.

 

Has anyone ordered Amber or Opal from BJDivas and received them yet? In their group I thought I saw them mention they had come in and we should see the extras hit the in stock section soon, but it's been a bit since I saw that.

 

I did, and I got my mantis girl and moth mask not too many days back.
So from my understanding on the BJDivas, they got in like 3 or 4 really big shipments from different companies at the same time right around the holidays. It seems is was slow going to process and ship out all of those. I had dolls from two of those different companies come in then, and got one weeks before the other as they slowly worked their way through things. As for listing any extras, I would guess soonish, but given how small their staff is who knows when soon will be.

 

Mine just arrived at BJDivas, but my layaway is still until April

 

I got a surprise email yesterday, my black resin robotic arms are on their way! I really thought it would be another month. I guess I better finish the faceups for the doll it is intended for. lol

Oh, Caroline's so sweet, I just ordered her blank via AC, Coral Reef Instagram's photos with alternative face-ups did it for me! I was eyeing their body for a while. I have a spare head that needs a body, and preferably not another Doll Chateau, even though they are close match to said head So hopefully I will have a matching body [if resin is indeed close/same as DC], and if not, I will have an adorable elf in my collection. So now the wait games begins...

 

I just ordered Caroline with my partner. He was excited about her too, so we split her. I'm just in love with that outfit of hers. We managed to get the outfit, but not the wig and faceup. So excited for this company.

 

I am really tempted by Caroline, i hope i might be able to get her head...

I am curious though, does anyone have a msd girl yet and another brand to compare them next to, like minifee or dollzone? I am curious on what a side-by-side comparison would look like ^^ I imagine she should be about the same height as dollzone, but just a little bit slimmer based on her measurements that I've seen.

@Epona I hope it helps at least a little, here are my two girls (Amadiz Lucio + Coralreef, DIM Laia + Doll Chateau)



She's pretty tall! About as tall as my DC body, but I need to take a photo of them standing together soon! She is very slim up top, with wider hips and thighs (Minifee pants for example don't fit!)

 

I was debating over whether to order a full-set Coraline (I fell in love with her face-up but didn't really need the costume and wig) and ended up missing the deadline... Ordered her blank after all. I will need to think about clothes and stuff, so thank you @Dew_Drops for comparison photo and video review! (it's especially helpful since I have a DC kid)

 

I'm happy to help! Her proportions are unique, so I take a similar approach as I do with my DC girl - up top, most MNF sized clothes will fit just fine (tops, dresses that are not fitted at the hips) but it's her hips and thighs that require a slightly bigger size. My dolls mostly wear dresses and skirts which makes it a little easier, but if you are thinking about pants and such I would definitely be sure to check measurements of whatever you order!

@Dew_Drops thank you! Yeah, her hips look even wider than DC's - I think my Bella wears some stretchy shorts intended for MNF but Caroline probably couldn't. I'm actually thinking about something steampunk-ish which may be tricky to find... but while I'm looking for it, I'll give the girl some clothes, hopefully she'll be ok with skirts and dresses!

 

Does anyone know if any of Coral Reef’s resin colors are close to any of Dollzone’s?

 

I would like to know this too. I think there are some hybrids out there that were several years apart (mostly white skin) and the colors were pretty close or not noticeable due to face-ups.

However, don't be so sure @maple.honey There could be owner photos very soon; they often seem to have some sets ready locally (plain/blank ones at the very least).

The wings are attached to some sort of resin harness, and this harness is placed over the doll's shoulders. There are much clearer pictures on the Taobao store page - link here (if you're not logged into Taobao you might not be able to see it). If you look very closely at this photoshoot especially at the girl's shoulders, you can see the curly part of the harness front. It seems to be a snug fit over the body. There doesn't appear to be magnets involved, but it's hard to say.

So, I received my Caroline recently and she's absolutely amazing and as she's got only heeled feet, I'm wondering: do high-heeled Minifee shoes feet Coralreef body? Did anyone try them or compared their feet?

 

I finished this faceup on Coraline from Coralreef the other day, this sculpt is absolutely stunning!

Sorry if this has an obvious answer and I’m just blind, but does anyone know what the difference is between Coral Reef's 1/4 scale bodies? BJDivas currently has two listed, "Queen's body" and "1/4 female body", but they look identical to each other and appear to have the same measurements and price. The only difference I could find was that one listing offered body blushing as an option.
Asking because I'm looking to get a body for my Red Lotus head that finally arrived, and I want to be certain I'm making the best choice.

 

@Onyx-Witch I know they've made a second body with wider shoulders, but this doesn't seem to be it. Just the skin-color options are different. If I were to guess, I think it's just a double listing

 

Hi all! I was wondering if anyone could offer comments on posing ability/overall stability? They're beautiful dolls, but look so very delicate!

 

I'm not sure about the other sculpts they've released, but I personally thought the posing ability of Opal was pretty incredible. I mostly credit this to her femoral/hip joints, as they allow her to actually cross one leg over the other while seated, as well as sit up straight without having to force the bust/torso joint forward. The only joint that gives me any issues are her mantis wrists, as they do seem to have a couple of positions they prefer to slip back to.
Sadly, I can't really speak on overall stability, as Opal only came with ballet feet, and is not able to hold any standing positions without assistance. I've never had any issues of her falling while in a seated position, though!
