So, recently I've become obsessed with finding awesome locations for photoshoots XD Today I wandered around the OSU campus, photographing benches, statues, trees... places to note down as possible places for doll photos :3 There are a ton of awesome little nooks and crannies... benches... bits of architecture... if I can get over being shy and self-concious, I'm going to be ALL over the place :'D Someone also mentioned Disneyland... omg, that would be mad fun XD And various vacation spots... the possibilities are endless! Who else is totally obsessed with cool photoshoot locations? :O That's one of the things I'm most excited about for when I finally get my boy... XD
Lol, I love scoping out cool places for photoshoots. I wish I were a better photographer, though >.<. I love big marble statues and gargoyles and those sorts of things. They look very haunting and pretty in pictures. I love outdoor pics, too.
dude OSU? sweet, I go there tooXD hey, south oval, near the stairs, there's some itty bitty daffidils that might be bjd sized! once the mud dries up a bit I'm gonna tak epics there.
Ooo, I'll check that out! :O I was over by Mirror Lake today... I was wondering if those ducks are tame enough to put up with being in a shot or two XD With precautions against dampness, of course.
I just went to Wichita Falls TX to visit my boyfriend and it was BEAUTIFUL! I loved the waterfall and the area around my hotel on the ARB was beautiful too! I SOOO want to take photos there. And my parents live near Medicine Park Oklahoma, it has some really good photo spots too!
if you bring enough food, I bet t hey would. beware of the black and white ones, they are really bold and will steal the food out of your hand >.> you wou;dn't happen to be in manga club, would you?
I love to do that too :O unfortunately, my boy doesn't have hair, so no photoshoots yet. There's this park near our highschool that has some awesome archetecture, I'm going to take London there one day. And hopefully my friend's Wi when he arrives. (I'm so excited for her)
I personally will be using Disneyland for photoshoots, because I will be working there in the fall. That'll be my cool photoshoot place.
Chinese Gardens in Sydney! I went there last weekend and they were beautiful...I just can't wait to get back there with my boy. =)
I'm the same way! SO many wonderful places I'd love to take my dolls...but I'm 20, people chide adults playing with dolls!
I'd love to take Azure down to Tuacahn this summer. It's this gorgeous outdoor ampitheater inside of a redrock canyon. I went to a play there last summer and kept wishing that I'd already had Azure so that I could take pictures before the show began.
*sigh* we were in Disneyland a few months ago, and I was *sososososoooooooo* tempted to bring Pele... I had initially planned on bringing her for a big (and then *gasp* stuffing her in a locker or taking her back to the hotel ), but I woke up with cranky pants :P Adding: the point of this post -- I found out later that someone else from DoA was in LA that weekend and DID take their doll to Disneyland :P
i think about this a lot, but i don't really find many cool places. i love my front porch because of the worn white washed wood. but other than that....my school campus is really ugly, and nothing is blooming yet. when the weather is warmer, i want to take my dolls to one of michigan's lake shores.
We don't have anything even close to a yard out here, so I have to be creative. But on the other hand, being in a city opens up a lot of unique options. There are gothic cathedrals, fountains, parks and flower gardens, and enough eccentric people that a girl taking photos of a doll isn't too unusual.
I think I might be the person you're referring to. I went to pick up my FCS in January and took her to Disneyland with me on Sunday. Gosh I wish I'd have known that you were there too, I would have encouraged you to bring Pele. I set aside a window of 2 hours in the Am to take pics and then whisked her back to the hotel afterwards so that hubby and I could enjoy the park- we were nearby in Paradise Pier. Its kinda a bummer, had I known, we could have met in the am and took some shots. I will have to make sure to post my whereabouts the next time i'm in LA. If you want to take your doll to Disneyland, I say go for it. People were very respectful, those who asked to hold her, I had no problem with. Lots of people asked questions. She stopped a few costume characters. I was really impressed with the Disneyland staff on this particular day. The castle shots were my favorite and the villian shop behind the castle had great props like the the suit armour.
I take photos anywhere, as long as it has an area I can move around. (like the park!) But I love dinosaur park in utah! I've always wanted a photoshoot there, but I'm goin' back this summer so I might. Another cool area is antique shops and the woods/forest. Sometimes though you can get great photos with the right props right around you house. >^^< Yep, yeps ~suppi
disneyland is a fun place to take pictures i took my tiny with me last september when i down there. There was also another BJD person down there at the same time but i didn't run into her, only saw pictures once i returned home and checked the boards
Kew Gardens~ I haven't been there, but I've seen piccus and documentaries on TV and what not,and it looks really, really nice. (My relatives have also been there, and they said that pictures do it no justice.) However, seeing as I'm nowhere near my doll target,I don't need to check the place yet... ...or maybe for Cosplay photoshoots, who knows.. *walks away mumbling to herself*
The zoo, DisneyWorld, Botanical Gardens in NYC, Bronx Zoo, Chinatown... Museums would be awesome, especially if you visit one with famous paintings/sculptures. The Sistine Chapel would be excellent, but, I mean, come on. That's asking a bit much?! *rambles* Yankee Candle Factory. I want to go back up north and visit it, but I haven't been anywhere near MA in years. Most festivals in Milwaukee (Arab World Fest, Asian World Fest, Summerfest, State Fair, etc) have plenty of interesting stuff.
I think any park or garden would be a great place to take pictures. When my girl gets here (she shipped today!!!!!) I have a list of places that I want to take her for photoshoots, lol. I want to try to avoid a lot of public though... a 22 year old carrying around a doll would raise a lot of eyebrows here ^^; Places I want to go: The beach! Nature Park just up the road from my apartment A hiking trail that follows a gorgeous river (I can't remember the name of the park now....) And the next time I go home to Nova Scotia I want to take her to the river that runs behind my parent's place, to the shore and up to my 'secret spot' on the mountain I used to visit a lot as a kid... there's a little waterfall and so many beautiful places to take pictures. And the next time I'm in Annapolis Royal I want to get some shots at the Historic Gardens and Fort Anne. I'm a big fan of outdoor photography... could you tell? lol
I'm just totally obsessed with photography... As for taking pics on a campus, especially with your doll, if you're self-concious, just tell anyone inquiring that you're an art major, it equals an instant "Oh, well, ok then, that's normal" pass XD Trust me, they expect this sort of thing if you're an art major.
You know, there's this awsome place on Prince Edward Island, Canada, called Woodleigh Replicas. It has a whole bunch of scaled down castles and a hedge maze thing. Some of the castles would probably actually be BJD sized, though I didn't even know about BJDs last time I went there, so I wouldn't be able to say for sure...Anywho, it's awsome, and would be a great place to take doll pictures... Or just pictures in general, really. XD
