Unresolved Concerning FlightOfSwords

    1. I thought this was the most trafficked place to put this.

      FlightOfSwords has not posted since Oct 20th, and there are quite a few people waiting on commissions from her. She had mentioned in her shop thread that she was having some difficulties, and assured us everything was just waiting to be shipped.

      Does anyone have her phone number or know how to contact her other than by email?

      I am here. I am soooooo sorry things have gotten so hectic. And in fact, everything is so crazy around here (family troubles) that I'm going to be offering a full refund AND a free tshirt to whoever doesn't want to wait any longer for their orders. It may take me a little bit for the refunds, as I have to send them as I get paid, but I just don't have anymore time to finish my orders.

      I feel terrible about all of this, and I was even putting off saying anything about it because I was so worried about my reputation on the boards, but I've reached the point where I'm stretched so thin that I no longer care if anyone hates me or not. I just need some order in my life and if my reputation must suffer, so be it. I'll be posting this to my commission post and hopefully not too many people will throw tomatoes at me....

    7. I dont mind waiting. My girl needs clothes and if I were to get a refund, I need money so bad I'd just spend it on normal things, rather than more clothes.

    11. it seems to me like making a post like this, explaining your hard situation and offering a refund is only going to make you have a better reputation (especially better than dissappearing without telling people!) so really, I respect you for it, and I hope that things get better for you soon. I know the feeling!

    13. I too, have nothing against things coming up and life taking over. For anyone having trouble, and update now and then goes a long way.

      I have no personal ill feelings and would not consider your reputation at a loss over this.

      You had said in August there was just one pair of pants left to make. If it's easier on you, I can send more money for shipping to help out and you can send what's been made, and take your time on the rest. :grin: I really like your work, and hope things get better soon.

Now I feel like a big jerk, I sent an e-mail earlier today asking for news . . . to be fair, I paid on August 30 and have been waiting patiently, but I do feel bad having sent the e-mail when there was an update, I just hadn't heard anything since October or November!!

      Please pass on my good wishes and hopes that things will calm down soon . . .

      I called her cell and mangaged to leave a message once, but have yet to get through to her again. It says this user is not accepting call right now.

      Hopefully things will clear up soon.

    30. I recommend e-mailing her directly; that's what I did. She still doesn't have internet connectivity but she replied to mine from a friend's house.

    43. For a short moment around the end of January I had been in contact with her. But I too am still waiting, my original order went in the middle of September.

      I don't have much time to go to DOA, If you could, just let everyone know
      that I had to deal with some computer stuff, and I'm really busy at work
      (I don't have just any old fast food job. It's a professional office
      career job, and I'm trying to get a promotion that should pay about
      $35,000 a year, so my commitment to my career is no joke.) and had to
      get my hard drive replaced.

      Thats what she said ..no one kill me please ^^; since I know some are upset *Hides*

      "Sorry, my computer's hard drive had to be replaced and that left me with no computer access. I had a fiasco myself with my car payment and all of my available money had to go towards that. I had to make some choices between giving refunds and having money to live and pay rent, and I'm sure you understand why I made the choice that I did. But I'll tell you that what I WILL do is start on the refunds once my finances settle down, which should be soon, now that I got my car stuff taken care of."

      .....Don't shoot the messenger, but this looks like reasonably good news?

      Just one question.. according to some updates in the other thread - all orders were done and ready to ship in early October - just waiting on having enough funds to pay for the shipping. I would have thought if finances were a big problem - it would have been way cheaper to pay for shipping - than to offer refunds. Is the shipping mainly within USA.. would that only be a few dollars per parcel? Or were all those items sent out and received - so there really is very little that hasnt been made/sent/refunded now?

      It certainly is a good lesson for other makers/sellers - and I know I will stick to my guns and not accept any payment or deposits until such time I have items ready to ship - and not take on orders I cannot complete in a reasonable timeframe (1-2 weeks maximum). I really hate having more than two commissions waiting on me.. just in case something disaterous or unplanned does crop up.

      I am very sorry for all involved (seller and customers) - this is a very sad state of affairs and can lead to some very jaded and untrusting people in the future - not a good thing for the BJD community as a whole.

      I really hope things work out for everyone soon - but it really doesnt look too good at all.
       
    54. I believe that what happened was this: Yes, some people have been waiting since July or earlier (I myself paid in August), but not all the items were ready to ship in October.

      A few were, supposedly, but I know I was told that she never got to my items at all. She then first offered the option of getting a refund because of the unreasonable wait (though I didn't take the offer), and two weeks or so later said that no matter what she was giving a refund to everyone whose items were not prepared. I don't know whether or not she ever shipped those (if anyone does, I'd be interested to know), but around October was when she suddenly stopped contacting us without the buyers emailing her, and often even then not for a week or more.

      Since then it's been the same; limited internet access, job problems, various financial issues; in short, things that would severely limit the chances of any of us getting our money back. I've emailed her at least once a month for an update, but that's the best I'm getting.

      However, I continue to believe her and will live on in trust that she is going to give me that money back eventually (and I would hope it will be with a nice addon for the wait, but I have no way to know) until she e-mails me saying 'HAHAHA YOU SUCKER.'
       
    55. Bassicly I've come to this conclousion (As I have her friended on LJ)

      She's busy with her life, and as such seems to have nothing to do with the doll community.

      So that means to me that we will get no refunds or clothes ever.

      You guys better just forget about it, as much as I'd like to "belive in people" its just not working here. Sad thing about it is that I met her in person, she seemed cool its to bad really.

      (I lost out on $58 for a Kimiono...)
       
    56. I feel really bad for what every one is going through. I consider her a friend, at least an online friend. I ordered a kimono from her, last spring, and got it. I ordered more stuff last summer, and I am still waiting.

      She seemed to start out wanting to make the clothing. Got WAY too many orders than she could handle. I dont know why she didnt turn down some of them. Basically got herself into a hole, and didnt know how to get out. Burn Out then set in.....

      I really dont know why she has not produced on the refunds like she said she would. I cant even speculate.

      Like Rotten Lullaby said, She has basically dropped out of the doll community all together. I woudlnt hold out too much hope of seeing your items or your money. And its a real shame.
       
    57. What's more of a shame is that you still believe she's innocent and just a busy girl. This isn't the first time she's purposely tried to hurt people and I highly doubt it'll be her last.
       
    58. Regardless of why she didn;t honour her commitments, people should get re-funds. If none are forthcoming then a civil suit would be wise.
       
    59. I don't wish to be rude..but i think it is wrong of her to use other peoples money to pay her debts before she has finished what people have payed her for.

      I also have been ripped by a old DOA member( i think she's banned now) claiming to sell elfdolls i never got my money back..but sadely I also had good contact with her and she seemed very friendly..but at some point she stopped awnsering my emails.
      I don't wanna be pointing fingers or anything but this thread is giving me a deja vu.
      Because of this and another bad pruchase I sadely do not buy anymore items from texas =_=...just I am so affraid it will happen a third time.

      I really hope she will refund your money! And I hope she won't hide and flee.
      But understand...I have experienced the same situation..about a sweet girl with problems! But eventually she did manage to steal hunderds of dollars from doa members? What's sweet about that =_=...
       
    60. Nothing sweet about that at all, and thank you for the example. People need to know that just because someone is 'nice' does not mean they don't want to scam you! Of course scammers aren't going to be mean, you would never trust them :sigh

      And about the civil suit, wouldn't that involve needing a lawyer? I doubt the money we would get as a refund would come close to a lawyer's fee and we would still be out money.
