Hello, lovelies! After a long hiatus from the hobby, I've been on a mission to give all my dolls (new) faceups this year. After blushing, the sealant around his neck-hole and a patch under his chin had chipped..! I felt so frustrated as I'd been trying many different sealants and finally thought I'd found something that worked. However, he's just for me. He's just a doll, I thought and so I decided to keep going, as the sealant problem didn't really bother me too much. I finally finished late last night, procrastinating from school, haha! Tends to be that way, riiight? ☺️ Thank you for looking at my little progress photos, even thought they're taken in my dark room with my phone I like him a lot and I'm hoping to bond better with my other dolls as I keep faceup:ing!
He's super cute!!! I love the colors you used and his expression The chipping may have happened in that area from you touching it with your bare hands. If any skin oils get stuck on the head, sealant will chip there. It kept happening to me sometimes even though I always washed my hands first, so I started wearing cotton gloves during the faceup process and no more chips on the chin or neck hole
Thank you! I always wear vinyl gloves I don't know why but the sealant is chipping even more now. I've used Vallejo matte with air brush, but I think next time I'll do a layer of MSC before using the airbrush sealant maybe?
@Fangal my daughter in law uses this product in her airbrush. https://www.everythingairbrush.com/product/vallejo-premium-matt-varnish-60ml/
It turned out great! I love the sparkle you added in the end It really makes the whole doll come to life!
Oh no, it appears your images are broken! I saw the pictures earlier and came back to say it looks super cute. It's often worth going forward with mistakes, imperfections also add some life I think
The images work for me. Are you sure it's not just the old image bug acting up again? You can test it by quoting the post with the image in it, if the image shows up in the reply box the links are fine, it's the showing that doesn't work. There hasn't been any oficial statements about the cause from the forum staff, but the leading theory among users seem to be that it's a bandwidth issue, probably on DoAs end as it seems to get worse during high traffic. Sometimes reloading the page can coax the images to show up, but otherwise you can always view them in the reply box, albeit is a smaller version.
@Lillith - strange that they work for you! even when quoting the post I see "image not found or moved" blue boxes from postimages.
Oh, you are right, they are gone for me too now. Maybe my browser showed a cached version of the thread.
