Completed...almost!

Sep 22, 2005

    1. Here's some pics of the completed body, and both heads.... It seems like everything looks okay. There are a lot of nagging imperfections, but I don't know if they're really noticable to someone else, or if I'm just being picky. Please let me know what you all think!

    2. I think you've done a great job! I love the delicacy of the hands, especially . . . they're so hard to sculpt, and you've captured them perfectly!

      I really like the first photo a lot . . . if I may ask, is the second head meant to represent a specific character? The very strong features seem to clash with the slenderness of the body, in my opinion.

      But you've done a fabulous job -- are you going to cast her in resin eventually? I love this sculpt -- how tall is she?

    3. I agree with Ashbet- the first photo is beautiful. The head in the second seems like it should be on a different doll. But I do like the second head, too. It has a ton of character. Love the nose :wink: Can you give us some close up shots of both heads? The features on the first head are so delicate that it's hard to really see. And the second head is just so funky that I want to get a good look at it! The body you sculpted is beautiful. I love the hands and the legs the best. The shins on the lower legs look perfect! More photos please!

    4. Hey, thanks! It's really hard to see the detail in sculpey when it's all sanded and mottled looking. Hopefully I'll have it all totally finished and primed in the next few days. I will be casting it initially in super sculpey (for my thesis) but cast it in resin after school is over. The second head is of someone I admire very much, so that's why it looks sort of out of place...I'm thinking of doing a second body just for that head.

      The right eye looks sort of odd in the pic, but it's as symetrical as can be in real life!

    5. :daisy Very nice! I think a little more cute-style body would be nice for the second head!

    6. Oooo, thanks for the close-up of the first head!! Love the features, you've done a really good job on her :)

      Yes, I think that a different body would work best on the second head . . . not that it isn't good, there's just an incongruity between it and the body it's on.

      Looking forward to seeing the cast version!

    7. Thanks for the close up! The face is very delicate and well balanced. She is lovely. You are quite talented. :daisy

    8. Wooooooooo!!
      I didn't see this thread until just now, ah, that's almost two weeks since it's been posted D:,

      She's almost finished! Ahh!! I can't wait to see the completed doll, this sculpt is even better than I anticipated! Can she stand on her own?
      you really have a knack for this. Good luck!

    9. This is just the prettiest doll If I've ever... o_o;
      But anyway, the arms look too skinny. I know in anouther thread you said that was how you wanted it, but I could see a problem with wrist mobility. DoD has a similar sculpt, and they have pretty bad mobility with that. Anyway, She's still cute! It's not like I know what your going for, art or play or something... ^_^ But she is probably very playable and still a GREAT piece of art!
