Specific Company Comparison posing for Granado 30cm male bodies

Sep 28, 2021

    1. I recently got in one each of Granado's 30cm male bodies and the female embody, for which I'll post a posing photo shoot soon. One of the things I like about Granado is the variety of body types, and I was curious to get hands on experience with these three, very different, bodies. Today, I posed the three lads side by side to start to get a feel for what they can and can't do...and to decide what I need to do to make them the posers I need them to be in order to do my kind of photostories.

My conclusion? The Vigor is by far the best poser. Not only does he have a mobility joint in the leg, his torso twists in ways the other two can't.

The Adagio is gorgeous and graceful, whatever he does, but without the mobility joint, some movements are seriously lacking. I'll be making him a mobility joint eventually. Interesting to note that just as they were putting together my order, they announced a new 30cm body, the Ascent, which is basically the Adagio with a peanut joint like the female Embody has. I couldn't be happier. It puts my time table forward a bit, with JP getting a body about a year before I intended. He'll get the Adagio, and Stephen will get the Ascent when it comes in.

The Zen is aesthetically interesting...very fine boned and thin...and, in a word, a lousy poser. Sigh. I have a specific purpose in mind for him, however, and I think I can mod the body to achieve that end.

Hope this was informative! thanks for viewing.

    2. Great comparisons! It’s a shame about the limitations of the Zen body, I love its aesthestic— well, I do wish it didn’t have abs but I could live— but the tradeoff in terms of posability is a lot to consider. Granado’s sculpting really is something else, though.

    3. All three bodies are aesthetically fascinating. I'm going to try some mods on the Zen, and hopefully it will solve some of the problems. I want to bring a lip down from the torso to try and keep the hip from slipping out. Possibly something as simple as an SI belt under his clothing would solve it, but since my vision for his character involves a fair amount of running around in the altogether, I need another answer. :D I'm going to try adding peanut joints to both the Adagio and the zen. Wish me luck! :D

    4. This was fascinating, thank you for posting! I would never have guessed the Vigor would come out on top here! Both of my little guys are on the Zen body, and we get along just fine until I want them in lotus pose. I’ve been considering modding a mobility thigh into their joints, but who knows if I’ll ever get around to it. :XD:

    5. Great to see the comparison! I've got a Vigor and a Zen, and am waiting on an Ascent. Currently the Vigor body is the best poser of all my mature tinies, and the gang has members with 10 different bodies.

    6. You are very welcome! The Zen is a very cool look, and he does the "monk" thing Crocus designed him for really well. My photostories just tend to be pretty ad hoc, and I need to be able to pose the kids without thinking about limitations. It's hard for me to set up and shoot as fast as the kids are talking to me in my head. His joints are SO small compared to the length of the corresponding body part, it makes it hard for him to hold position. I don't think it's his stringing, I think it's engineering of the joints.

I'm pretty convinced that I'm going to make both the Zen and Adagio mobility joints this winter. I'll add the results to this thread if/when I do. I also got the Big Guy Adagio, and if it works on the little one, I'm doing it to him as well. I wish they twisted as well as the Vigor. The joint being up above the rib cage puts it on a flat part of the body and stops it from torquing. The Vigor is just so much more flexible...altho his mobility joint doesn't rotate the way a peanut joint, like the Ascent seems to have, does. I'm wondering if I'm adventurous enough to try and sculpt one for them! :D Not sure whether an entire structural piece made of apoxie would work or not.

@Leo Pheonix I'm about to do a shoot with Anevai, my female embody. She has the full peanut joint and is, I think, going to put the lads to shame. When I was doing her box opening, I got this one:

As with the boys for me, a second joint in the torso w/b really nice. I just don't know how well she's going to stand.

Edit: Aaaand, I just realized they have two sizes of tiny hands, one for Ascent/Zen. You know, it occurs to me that her hands might work on the zen body. I got the extra tiny ---hands for both male and female, but the male hands are really too large for the zen body. Hers might work. Wrong color, of course, but maybe they sell them separately.

    8. thanks for that! am i correct that Vigor still cannot slouch his back? i tried, but the resin is so thin, so i really scare to touch even his mobility joints, because of scare to damage it:?

    9. It's really pretty darned tough. I smooshed them all over with no problems. As for slouching, depends. If you look at pic #2, he's got a fairly rounded back. None of them have a 3 part torso, so the, ahem, rumpus is always going to arch back. I'll grab him and do some specific slouch tests.

    10. it's just i have 2 part body from another company and it can round his back easily, so i tried it with my small vigor (since it's the same character, just the super fashion sized) and he just can't round his back at all, no stoppers whatsoever :nowords:

    11. THAT is a problem, indeed. My Wiishu (LTF) has a notch in his back and I plan to carve a similar notch into both my Vigor torsos (31 and 75). The other two, with the simpler breast-bone joint, slouch more successfully, but can't do Vigor's wonderfully twisting motion. Sueding would probably help, but not look very nice. If you give the torso just the slightest twist, something that curved joint allows, he'll hold it better.
