I'm interested in knowing if any other companies than Fairyland steadily offer their doll lines with these types of hands and/or feet, as it's my favorite thing about Fairyland bjds.
I can't think of any other companies that do magnets on the regular like Fairyland (LUTS used to do it with the SSDFs, but their hands kept falling off so they eventually switched back to s-hooks), but many companies do twist off hands where the s-hook can rest in slots grooved into the wrist after the hand is removed so it's easier to dress in the same way. Volks dolls have this system, as do Switch dolls, and the new LUTS SDF girl body has it -- it's really convenient and the hands don't pop off at random moments the way it does at times on the Fairyland dolls (I have an F60 boy who seems to eject them at random, haha). There are probably others out there; those are just the ones I've handled.
My Popodoll 63cm boy also has the twist hands with the s-hook slot like Volks, but they aren't magnetic.
Soom's new Super Gem bodies have magnetic hands. The hands still feel secure in my dolls and I don't worry about them falling off. I love them, they make changing clothes and switching hands so much easier
I think, with the appropriate locking mechanism, I'd be all over that kind of hand/feet set up. I have a spare set of hands for my Doll Family A doll and I don't ever both changing them- it's too difficult! I just...kind of used the hands for painting practice instead. Haha. Might be more incentive for me to get a Fairyland doll.
Necroposting to ask if the magnetic/interchangeable hand situation has changed at all since 2016? (Specifically I'm looking for another mature mini option besides Minifee, but any size would be good, honestly.)
