Theme comicbook/superhero/villain/graphicnovel-inspired dolls - cosplay

My sister and I have three dolls based off DC heroes.

This is my LatiBlue Rucas that's Kon-el-- Superboy. He doesn't have the proper wig yet, but he has his piercings and a random S-badge tattoo.





My sister's LatiBlue Mystic Kahn is Jason Todd-- Robin II. No proper wig for him, either. Waiting for a curly one~




And her LatiBlue Rei is Tim Drake-- Robin III.



And I've been hoping for a Unoa L-bi for about two years to make into Bart Allen, my favorite hero ever. (And yes I know he's dead.) And possibly a second L-bi to be his evil clone, Thad Thawne. My sister's looking to get herself a doll to be Dick Grayson, along with a girl to be Cassandra Cain. Then we will have enough Robins to do things like this and this. Yessssss.

There are several Dreams, a Corinthian, a John Constantine (yeah I know he's from his own series but he DOES show up in The Sandman) and a Delerium so far.

I have a Destruction but no good photos of him yet... he is short on clothes. ^-^

 

I've got a doll that fits this. My Kabuki is pretty much my carbon copy fan tribute to David Mack's Kabuki character, of the semi-obscure comic of the same name. I've currently only got her "mask" face; I plan on buying another face to do her actual face so I can switch back and forth.

 

I have an Anita Blake inspired doll. I've never read the graphic novels, only the regular books, but her likeness was created using photos from it.

It's funny, Draven is sort of inspired by Eric Draven. He's a pretty gloomy kid and comes coupled with a ripped up sweater. He got his name from me walking past the DVD in my room one day. (Poor boy waited 1 whole month for his name. *is ashamed because he still had the longest wait for a name*)

His body is coming soon. I'm also making a Harley Quinn but she'll be put together in pieces and rather slowly...Joker is almost done after his body arrives, when he gets his body he only needs an outfit and faceup.

My tan Mo is a character doll for Jaime Reyes, Blue Beetle II. Someday I will actually commission a scarab suit for him... But in the mean time, he is in civvies with the scarab "embedded" in his back. :P

He's a Volks Heath on a Souldoll body (horrrrible match!! Someday I'll redo his face up - which was a generic faceup away - and make him match better...)

She's a Luts Delf Claus and a boy. You just can't trust that wacky Phoenix force...does all sorts of crazy things....

They're both WIPs. Until this weekend Gambit was just temporary, one of my own characters "cosplaying". But I don't need Raziel, and Gambit is more fun. "Jean" is a doll I got in a trade and didn't know what to do with...I thought about turning him into one of the other X-men...but after Gambit my favorites are all girls....so I went with it anyway. She still needs more work - blushing, another couple tattoos (cause why not?), more wigs (one on the way already!!) and I would LOVE to commission someone to make her versions of the Phoenix outfits...both light and dark. But for now, here they are!

 

Yeah I'm not sure how apoxy would hold out...or if I can sculpt >.< At least I have time to decided what to do. I don't even have the beginnings of a body for him yet!

Magneto may be old, but he's still drawn hot in the comics, so I would be good with any manly sculpt I could kinda age with a faceup hurhur.

Since this is a photo thread I'll drop off my male Jean Grey...She's had two new wigs and a pair of eyes since the last time I posted her...Or him. Whatever.

Flickr is really misbehaving today...

 

Well, here's 'Star with his faceup that lasted all of a day. It doesn't really show in the photo but it was waaaay too pink and I wasn't satisfied with his star birthmark. So, I wiped it. But here's a photo anyhow. Come Spring, I'll give it another shot. Unless there happens to be another 50 degree day this winter!

Awwww! *^^* OK! Well, since Nick was pointed out, I will do him first. I have a /problem/ with this doll being very attractive to me. <.< He turned out sexier than I imagined.

And Elektra. I think the red clothing combined with the Iplehouse realskin makes her very photogenic. It wasn't hard to get a nice picture of her.

He may or may not be an excuse to have an EID boy mostly naked all the time. <.<

But also, I love Namor. I did actually drill into his ankles to do the wings. Gluing them would not have looked very good and with the holes, I can take the feathers out when I want to take him somewhere, and put them back in once I get him posed.

 

Requested Iron Man and Captain America. I can swap out the Tony head onto the Iron Man body to get the unhelmeted thing going. I have redone Tony's face-up since this shoot, but I made it too severe and have to back down the shading some more before I take more photos.

 

Finished Winter Soldier up last night.

I've actually been working on making a Superboy, I haven't finished his gloves or boots, and his belts should probably be remade better, but otherwise he's coming together pretty well, I think!

I had this Impldoll Iris blank for so long until just recently I've decided on her look and commissioned a face-up.
She's styled after Aphrodite IX, because I liked the comics when they first came out years ago.

His costume is technically removable, but not practical to do so. In order to get the right look for the face, I had to use a lot of putty over the mouth, and at the back of the head. The head doesn't even have a face-up.

You can also see the new outfit I made for Namor.

A somewhat crappy I'm-at-work-and-had-5-min-to-do-this shot. But still...I'm pretty happy with him right now! Restringing that Granado body differently did him a world of good. I'm second-guessing my impulse to sell it and get a different one. Which is good as it will save me money...

I have to give Jeanie a hairs cuts and get her a belt or something so she'll be all ready to go too. Halloween is easy when you have dolls who are just always dressed up in "costume" XD

First off everyone's dolls are epic! This is one of the best threads I've found here.

So many more great looking dolls! The blue resin with the wig and eyelashes looks amazing BlitheFool. I am getting a blue body for my Jotun version of Loki. I took some pics today with his Asgard head and Avengers outfit.

 

I dressed my Twigling girl up like Storm for a lark and posed her with Nightcrawler. She makes a good Ororo, I think!

 

I'm excited I finally have one of my character dolls finished so I can share him! Loki and Thor don't have their proper clothes yet but... I finally finished Tim's Robin outfit ^//^. I took him to Madison's Wizard World (much to confusion of many a Wisconsinite...).

For those who don't know (and care to lol), Tim Drake is the 3rd boy to have the title of Robin (I refuse to accept the New 52 retcon version of him :p) and this is the 2nd version of his costume. I cheated on the belt however - he's wearing my Sideshow Batman's belt until I make him one of his own XD. I also want to make the cape longer, but I finished the night before the con and that's as big as I could get it with the amount of gold fabric I had -_-;

I need different boots and gloves - I knew I wouldn't get a TaoBao order in time for the con so I used some boots I got off ebay and some gloves I had. I think I might redo his mask too, maybe out of Worbla when I get some.

 

Its been a while since I did an update here. Finished a few things since the last post.

Cap in his WW2 outfit, and switched him to a realskin Arvid instead of the paler normal skin.




Made 'Falcon', though I do still have to finish his wing harness and all that still.



Finally made Loki his Dark World outfit. This I went all out, like the WW2 suit, and did leatherwork and tooling for the armor pieces, and its all lined, he got a new wig.




Which brings me to Thor, who went from being a Tedros to being a Kamau:


And Tony changed from normal skin to realskin as well. But he hasn't gotten new pictures because I need to gel his hair again.

I can't sew at all...I don't know how, nor do I really want to learn! So I'm at the mercy of those who can. I also love face plates, though Harley's is a bitch to keep on. It fell off in the middle of my "shoot" which meant she got tossed back in the bag lol.

Here she is. Still working on her, but so far, I love her! I need to start cutting out diamonds tho, so I can add them to her clothes - both current and future (this is all she's got right now).

It was all her, believe it or not. She's very kicky, and her boobs are so big it keeps them from being as close as I'd like XDD
