Ordering Comfy/Grungy clothes for a big boyo

Apr 27, 2023

    1. I have an Impldoll Idol boyo, and I love him. I really do. What I don't love is the clothing selection in this size (he's roughly 72cm tall/uncle size). All I can find is either business chic, the absolute basics, or some weird combo of avant guard/BDSM lingerie.

Are there any normal clothes in this size? Leander is a poor modern college student who needs comfy grungy looking things. I don't mind having to dirty them up myself, I just need good bases. A soft sweater, hoodies, t-shirts in a color other than black or white (preferably with some appropriate graphics on them, but I will take what I can get). Thankfully I was able to find him pants and boots that work, but I'm just....he was my first doll, and if I'd known how much of a struggle this was gonna be I might have tried to get a different size (but alas his head is only in this one and that's what I fell in love with so shrug).

Anyone who has one of the bigger dolls (Iplehouse EID is a tad bigger but I've made them work, for instance) who can give me some good places to sniff out? I've even managed to shove his giant 19cm shoulders into an...I think SD sized t-shirt that is the only thing I find myself not hating him wearing.

    2. Aw poor fella! Well I mean.. there certainly used to be the clothes I think you are looking for! That's pretty much how I dressed many of my guys for a long time. Where have you checked for clothes?
I hear the wait time is crummy (check up on that) but Alice's Collections has a wide selection of casuals that have more personality than being super boring basics.
Cottonhoney on Etsy makes my favorite graphic T's and yes, for the big guys too. I'd keep an eye there because the stock fluctuates and there will be more/different designs slowly but surely.
I'm not sure the exact uncle size they use to model but rrabit has nice plaid/flannel shirts for the big guys currently.
I don't really shop for my dolls much but I think what you are looking for is out there, and I hope you can find it.
Distressing your own doll jeans is really fun though, for what that's worth!

    3. You could try checking eBay or Aliexpress for EID sized casual clothes. Etsy using EID or 70cm as keywords might also pull up some results. Some people on there could take custom size orders.

Have you checked the MP for pre-loved options here on DOA? Beyond there, you could check Facebook sales groups and Instagram for pre-loved clothing. IG also has folks who make clothes for bjds on there. Something you could also do is find basic T-shirts, tanks, and casual trousers that are available in that size (or could be custom made, I know Alice's Collections offers custom sizing on some of their stuff, you just have to ask) on dealer sites that also sell clothing, and dye/add decals to yourself. There's paper you can use in a printer that you can create iron-on decals with, or you could play around with fabric paints. There's also tie-dye kits available at places like Joannes that you could use to do your own custom treatments with.

The sky's the limit:kitty2. Hopefully that gives you some ideas for clothing options for your boy.

    4. I've checked all the big dealers/distributors (I'm still fairly new, so never sure if the sizing that says it only goes up to like 15cm shoulders would actually fit him or not?? I've seen some things that I liked, back when I was trying to kit him out before he arrived, but saw that and got frustrated and left them alone lol). This is the same issue I have with the Alice's Collections items, actually. The sizing doesn't sound like it'd actually fit him, though now that I'm remembering that SD sized shirt I could probably squeeze him into stretchier stuff. I wouldn't mind wait times if I just knew it would fit lol (Legend Doll forgot about my clothing order for months until I reminded them). The Marketplace here. Etsy. A BJD selling group on Discord. Places like Freedom Teller, or other shops mentioned on here. I am on Insta, but I'm new there too (got into it for dolly stuff actually lol), and all the stuff I see there for uncles is...also just suits or bondage gear.

I checked out Cottonhoney, and I do have a couple things of theirs saved but sadly they don't have any graphic tees that are striking me as "him" atm lol. But since you said their stock fluctuates, I'll definitely keep an eye on them, thank you! rrabit...their shoulder width is 13.5cm FFFFFFFF. This gigantic, vexing boy lol.
Thank you for the well wishes! I believe you about distressing the doll jeans! His current pair is already full of holes, so sadly I don't get to...experience...that lol. I might buy another pair just to "destroy" (and get out some of this frustration on lol).

    5. I actually....forgot eBay and Aliexpress were things, as I never use them lol. Thank you, I'll see if I can find anything on there. I've scored Etsy clean in my attempts, but it has been at least a few months since I searched so I might try again. I have stalked the MP since I gained access! I've found a few pieces here and there, never quite right, and unfortunately when I get them on him he's rejected them as options. There's just very few uncle sized options on the MP, or from what I've seen on IG (I'm new there and am going off mostly what I see under the #bjdsales tag, etc), and they all fall into the "business" category (other than outliers like futuristic or like...motorcycle jackets???). I do love the concept of pre-loved (especially cause he's more grungy, so a little previous love just adds to the look I want), but the selection is what is hindering me.

I have considered just buying basic T-shirts and adding decals/etc myself! I do want to exhaust any avenues of buying ready-made first though, as I don't have a lot of free time/energy to fiddle with that sort of thing if not necessary. Thank you for all the suggestions if (who am I kidding, probably "when" lol) I have to go down this route! ^_^

    6. lutsdoll co.,ltd.

LUTS Super Senior Delfs have a shoulder span of 19cm and I own pretty much all over 70cm dolls and never have an issue with LUTS clothing with fitting those size boys! That's not to say don't keep checking sizes, but there's a variety of clothes here that are more of a ~street wear/grungy/comfy vibe. Hope this helps!

    7. Thank you, there are definitely some good possibilities there! Do you know if I were to purchase from somewhere else in SSDF size, if it also should fit? Or are you only comfortable saying the LUTS clothes fit these size boys?

    8. Oh good, I’m glad!

Honestly I would say that in my experience, I’ve had good luck with purchasing from other sites in SSDF size for shirts/sweaters/jackets for my other broader shouldered 70cm guys. Pants, I would definitely give the advice of checking measurements because there are some clothing sites that just say ‘uncle/70cm’ and sometimes those can be a slimmer fit if you know what I mean?

If you ever have doubts with sizes though and measurements are not listed, it never hurts to reach out to the site and ask for details. :)

    9. Hehehe, yeah. The jeans he has now are definitely part of the "painted on" category, even if I checked measurements beforehand. They work though, so I'm not complaining xD And thank you, it is time to do some experimenting 8D
