Large Color Mismatch (Granado Noah)

Apr 9, 2022

    1. I've been hesitant to show Guórén's reshell in full color because of the mismatch between his heavily blushed headsculpt and his body (he was supposed to be a hybrid, but I ended up Granado-fying him from head to toe instead). They're both New Normal though, and it's just the matter of getting his current faceup removed and redone. Still, if you look great even with such a color discrepancy, that's saying something, right?

    2. He looks good even though there is a difference in color. He looks like he wore sunscreen on his body, but forgot to apply on his face, and got a nice tan.

    3. His faceup is so beautiful though! Is there no way to blush the body so it matches better?

    4. The expense of blushing a whopping 75cm body, plus being the type of doll owner who handles her dolls regularly, means the cost far outweighs the benefits for me, unfortunately. :sweat

    5. I didn't even think about the blushing on a body. Does it come off easily? Most of my dolls don't come with body blushing so I never thought about it.

      @AntarelNefertili
      Thanks. I didn't really consider all that before I got some of my dolls body blushing. I don't get body blushing often, but sometimes I add it onto my cart without thinking about it. I think I might have gotten one or two dolls with body blushing.

    6. I don't invest in body blushing unless the doll was meant to be on display nude, and will be subject to minimal handling. It chips easily at the joints, and clothing/accessories tend to rub them off.

    7. I've had good experiences with body blushing, but even with several layers of clear coat, there's certain areas that will always wear through within a year. Though I'm no expert, I also don't think any amount of blushing would even come close to that much of a color difference, and even if it were possible, it would have to be constantly maintained in this case. Really not worth it imo.

    8. Can the doll body be dyed to a closer color to his face?

    9. While it is possible, it also requires maintenance. As I mentioned, this is a 75cm doll, and dyeing requires pre-sanding to make sure there will not be uneven splotches. The sheer manhours needed is just not worth it for me. Furthermore, the head's blushing already requires special care as is. His previous shell was already quite pale to begin with, so I am not too worried about a similar faceup working on Granado's New Normal.

      Since this is a Gallery thread, as opposed to a Customization and Maintenance one, you may want to make a separate post in that section if you want to learn more about the pros and cons of body blushing in detail.

    10. Thanks, I didn't know any of this. I will go to the custom & maintenance to learn more. Gallery postings then are for just sharing your dolls?

      @ParlourGoddess
      Why do people write delete on a post? Is that how i request for a post to be deleted?

    11. Yes, that's what the Gallery subforum is for. :3nodding:

    12. If there was a way to create a hybrid instead with a better match I would go for that. I couldn’t bear to wipe the faceup! I know body-hunting is no easy task though!

      If he gets a new faceup, please share when done!

    13. @Sophiasyddall Like I already mentioned, the head's base resin color is the same as the body to begin with. This is the body he was made for, and I do not have unlimited patience or resources to keep trying hybrids. :3nodding: Also, his character's previous shell has pale skin and a comparable faceup, so I know tan skin is not a prerequisite for that scarring to work. Thanks for the suggestion, but I think I am sticking with the current battle plan for him. :whee:
