Props Christmas Props & Accessories!

Nov 21, 2008

    1. Hey everyone! I apologize in advance if this has already been mentioned somewhere else, but I went to Target yesterday and they had great stuff to use for doll props and accessories. And it was all in the dollar section! They had little mittens and Hello Kitty socks which would make great beanies or leg/arm warmers. They had Hello Kitty bracelets, just perfect for a doll necklace, and hairbands. They also had mini picture frames and mini Christmas trees with decorations to choose from. And everything in the dollar section is under $3. If you're feeling crafty, I would recommend going over there asap before everything is picked over.

    2. Thanks for the tip! I will definitely check it out!

    3. I dropped by a local bookstore and they had tinsel trees for sale (?!). Somehow brings to mind a Charlie Brown Christmas. Could be fun tho.

    4. on the Blythe website Puchicollective they have a really cool and cute tut for tinsel blythe - sized christmas trees. It would work for tinies, but to be a proper size would need to be scaled up for larger dolls. And those fake mini tinsel tree thingies would make rad SD sized trees. I saw a pink sparkly one the other day :D they're around 2 feet tall. Here's the link to the mini pipe cleaner tree pattern: http://www.puchicollective.com/tutorials/blythetutorials/make-a-miniature-tinsel-tree/
I'm always looking for mini mittens in Claire's and stuff too :)

    5. Hey that's a cool little project. Thanks for the link.

    6. Michael's also has a ton of really cute miniature ornaments, garlands and trees... For not to much.

    7. Oooh Im going to have to check these places out :D
      Thanks for the good tips!

    8. Two foot trees work well for SD sized dolls. Ornaments for these are easy to find. I've haunted after-Christmas sales for years, and now have enough stuff for four two foot tall trees, including replica old-fashioned ornaments. I also got rice lights, which are a better proportion for the smaller trees.

    9. Walmart has gift card holders that make great tops for MSDs and tinies with very little modification:

    10. Are those the gift card holders? No way! They look so good. Thanks. Keep the pictures coming folks!

    11. oh gosh! lol my mom went psycho about my new found hobby and has bought them a chrsitmas tree with lights miniature presents and present bags and bows and sashes and ornaments. Its kinda out of hand. XP but she got the mass of it at joannes walmart and michaels Im pretty sure.

    12. I'll have to look into some of this.
A Christmas scene would be nice!

    13. I actually seem alot of cute christmas stuff at the dollar store that would work for doll..I was just to lazy to buy it at the moment XD

    14. at JoAnns in the ornament section, I found striped red and white knitted sweater ornaments that fit well on Bambicrony dolls with no mods.Since they are a bit baggy(they have that cute, baggy look, so not too big looking) they may even fit YoSds.I didnt even have to remove my Kumi's head to put it on her.

    15. I bought the same ones this past week, but I couldn't get it over the heads of any of my MSDs and it was too large for my 10-12inch tinies. I guess it depends on the doll. They are adorable though. They also have Santa suspenders that are gift card holders, but they might be a little short for MSDs unless you want them as capris.

I'm in a swap so I've been looking for things for SD, MSD, & tinies. Michaels has a ton of things in their $1 section that work great for SDs. The mini calenders make great wall hangings. They have cross necklaces that are gorgeous. They also have a set of two fabric frames that work great as pictures frames for walls for SDs. The Mary Engelbreit things are also perfect for SD. Last year in the swap, the person who had my name was extremely creative. She used rubber stamps to create wall artwork for my SDs. The tiny sheer organza bags make great sachets filled with lavender.

Walmart has some adorable things. In the ornament section, they have $1 ornament booklets that work great as SD photo albums. Also, check out the miniature trees for $1. Work great for tinies. Kmart has some beautiful Martha Stewart ornaments like ceramic tea cups that work for SD.

The bookstores have little box sets that have a book and a prop. They are usually anywhere from $5-12 and are perfect for SD. Also, check out thrift stores. They usually have great costume jewelery for next to nothing that make great additions to BJD clothing and can be used for hair ornaments. Hallmark has minature ornaments that work well with MSD. I know there is more, but that is all I can think of right now.

    16. I got a similar shirt ornament at Bed, Bath and Beyond the other day,

I'm hoping it'll fit my incoming doll, even with a few adjustments. And I love the little hanger it came with. My mother was trying to rip the hangers from all the shirt ornaments to save for my girl when she comes home.. I had to pull her away from them @_@

Also, for Xmas goodies: while heading towards the registers at Michael's Craft Store, I spotted a beaded tree that came with some ornaments, candy canes, and garland to apply. I don't remember the price (I had gotten some things for the large tree in the house, as well..), but it was a lot of fun to hang ornaments on it,

(The sheep is from Bath and Body works.. Matches the bigger one I have on my bed :3)

Sorry for the blurriness >_< Took from my shaky iPhone+hand combo.

    17. Great ideas! Thanks for sharing!

    18. Hobby Lobby has a whole section, and I mean a row of tiny ornaments for SD sized trees and smaller. The selection is really good too.

    19. I've always collected tiny ornaments and things for my dolls. I USED to even have a tree until some wacko stole it this past summer lol. I'm replacing the tree with a bigger one after christmas do it fits my girl so my girl isn't taller than the tree anyway.
The thieves took my tree and a ipod but they didn't take my ornaments lol. I wonder what they're hanging on my old tree XD

2022 the 99 cent store has metal sleds that look about right for MSD and Yo-SD sized dolls.
