Cherish Doll Faith Discussion

Jan 28, 2011

    1. I think they are going to be in the $90 without the faceup. Cherish raised their prices since last year. Still they are a reasonable in price for such cute dolls. I kinda wish they had Jodie's ears on Molly. If I do get one, I would like to order Jodie in a boy form and turn him into a little fawn. I kinda like Sera's vampire look as well D:

    2. Aww really? D: Cause the other limited ones say they're 65$ with faceupe, the vampire ones, but I didn't know when they came out. And I so thought Jodie looked like a fawn too! >w< I wanted to order her without a FU and turn her into a fawn, but knowing me I would never get her the FU.

    3. Are the new Faiths up for sale?
I'm afraid the banner says "31/08" as a final date?
I'm quite into Unicorn Molly ._.'' but I'm just lost here XD

    4. The event that ended on Aug 31st was the 6th anniversary sale.
The four new limited edition heads are gonna be on sale from Sept 1st to the 30th. : )
Unicorn Molly is quite possibly the cutest one out of all four of them!

    5. So I was looking around the Cherish doll website, and it says at the beginning of this year they lowered the price of all Faith dolls and Cynical Babies, so maybe they will only be 65$ with faceup? : D I can hope at least. haha.

      [/FONT]

    6. That was last year :c I remember I paid $25 USD for my Vampire Abby head with no make up last year and $55 for the body. Basic Faith were $100 with no make up. This year they up the prices without any notification.

Basic Faiths are now $120 without face up, and heads are $90 with out face up :c Like I said they are still reasonable price, and their dolls are cute as &^%^& not to pass up.

Some old Miyu spam cause there is not enough Abby love.

    7. Well, I see some of what your saying, not all of it though. xD
The body only went up by 10$ which, doesn't seem like a lot, but in the long run it probably equals a lot for Cherish Doll. They are now 65$ to the 55$ you said they were before. Along with the basic faiths being 120$ for a blank doll, and 165$ for a doll with FU making the FU 45$.. which isn't so bad. However, the only part that makes me wonder is you said the Faith dolls are now 90$ without a FU, but im looking at their site right now and they're marked as 35$ without FU and 80$ with FU, still making the FU a value of 45$. So, if they don't charge extra for the limited edition heads, buying a head with makeup and a body to go along with it, should only equal about 145$. Which is actually 20$ cheaper than the 165$ the charge for an already assembled doll. I hope you were able to follow all that. >.<

    8. Yep, that's how I figure their pricing too.

I just need to remind myself that the already assembled doll price of $165 w/FU also includes a wig and eyes but the separate body/head price of $145 does not. The additional $20 is worth it to me for those extras.

    9. Yeah, I guess the wig and eyes could be worth it, but I'm not one to like randoms, so I would rather buy a wig and eyes that I choose then be stuck with a wig and eyes I might never use. I might not be able to find a wig and eyes for 20$ for both, but that's alright. : ) I totally forgot they came with a wig and eyes though, the 165$ with FU. That's a good deal if your just getting your first doll.

On a side note, does anyone have a skin tone comparison picture with Cherish dolls white skin and normal skin? I was thinking about getting my twins different skin tones, but I can't tell what the white skin really looks like on their site, it's too pixely.

    10. Yep, there is that. I do remember reading somewhere on the site (possible in FAQ?) that you can request color and style of wig and eyes and they will try to honor that if it's in stock. Might be worth considering that if you have a strong preference.

I've been looking at these price breakdowns since it appears the Jodie head is still available, but the assembled doll is not... why they can't take one of the heads and put it on a body themselves, I don't know, but if that's how I can get a 'sold out' Jodie, so be it!

    11. Yeah, I'm not really sure how they break down the prices because generally on any other doll site, purchasing a head and a body is usually more expensive than purchasing an already assembled one. I wonder if I purchase two Molly heads and two bodies, will they assemble them for me, or send them as if they were two seperate orders. It baffles me a little, but you never know, they may have some sort of plan for it.

      >.< Still looking for skin tone comparrison shot! I might just go post a thread for it.

    12. Just thought I'd bump up the thread with an update:

The heads are now up on the site! : D

They are still just 0.00$ and it says they haven't entered the sale yet, but they are pretty cheap. Actually cheaper than a normal head with FU. Currently it reads as 35$ for a blank one, and 70$ for one with a FU. If they don't change that price, I am certianally going to grab two of them. : )

    13. OMG! I soo want Molly! I did my math, and it came to $200 for two w/o faceup not including shipping. Soo tempted..

I only own white skin, and she kinda turned to buttery tone over the time I had her. Then again all white skin turn over time faster then normal resin ='/

    14. My total ( including shipping ) comes to about 345$. I think I'm gonna get the two of them. x3 We'll see. I won't know til later this month.

How white is the white skin? Like.. paper white? Or is it more creamy? Or maybe pale flesh tone?

    15. Ok. Mine is going to cost me $245 incl shipping. Hard to describe the color, it's not paper white (I compared it to another doll that had white resin and it was no were near that color) I guess it's sorta ivory color.

    16. Ah, I see. xD So I probably won't go with one white skin then. They're probably very different.

    17. I might just grab two heads... Still thinking about it. I don't have that much money, but both Jodie (who isn't a unicorn... LOL!) and Serra are tempting me.

    18. I'm getting Molly, I love unicorns and I can't resist! She'll be my first human BJD, I just have a little Dalsoo right now lol. It looks like she'll be able to share some clothes with my Pullip, so that's exciting too. I can't wait, I'm going to get her a really nice faceup, a brown wig, and have her horn painted gold. She's going to be based off of my imaginary friend from when I was a kid; Amber the unicorn. :)

      Can't wait!

    19. Well, I ordered Sera and Jodie - heads only. I just fell in love with Jodie's ears...

I'm not sure about the bodies yet. I have a Chubby demon girl on the old chunkier body, and I rather like that body. So I was thinking maybe a 'chunky' boy body for Jodie, and the slim girl for Sera... But I have to think about it. First priority was to get these heads while they're still available...

    20. I will be ordering Sera and Jodie heads at the end of the month. Bodies can wait lol

    21. Oh, good - I won't be the only one with two floating heads, then. LOL!!!
I got my Sera in white and Jodie in NS.

    22. My heads arrived! Customs charges were enough to buy a third head, as I already suspected they would be...

They shipped them in a ridiculous box, though.

I totally love them both, and I'm sure now I want the chunky boy body for Jodie and the slim girl one for Sera...

    23. So I saw this thread was bumped and I wandered in...I have what I think is a Beau that I grabbed at BJDC from someone who didn't know what it was :\
I don't know anything about Cherishdoll since this is my first and only. All I knew was that it was adorable and had to go home with me.

As you can see, the poor thing has no face, even two months later. I have no idea what to do with him (think he's actually supposed to be a girl, but in my collection anything smaller than a YO is genderless imo and therefore called "he")!! This fall look is perm, but as far as faceup goes...He's a fairy, and I can't decide if I should try full on fantasy, or just fall colors or go green for contrast or what. I've never had this much trouble with a faceup in my life! Why it so hard?? D:

Anyway, I thought maybe I'd get some thoughts from other CD owners.

    24. That would be Beau. If the body has no boy parts (Cherish Faith boy bodies have boy parts) then it's probably a female. Either way he is cute.

Depending if you are keeping the theme or not. He looks cute as a fall fairy. The beauty of this hobby you can change looks whenever.

    25. That's one adorable little Beau! I love that wig and the leaf outfit!!

I always think the first face-up on a blank head is the hardest... There's something daunting about that pristine 'new' resin. :o

I think in your place I'd just try one, and if I don't like it, wipe it and try something else... Not very helpful, I know. ;)

    26. Fab! With that wig and those eyes, I don't think he needs much. Maybe start with defining the eyes and see from there.

    27. Update with CD. I posted a message on their board asking to do a stringing tutorial for their Faith dolls. They said they would like to make a guide for owners, but it will take some time to prepare it.

    28. My Molly arrived yesterday! She was a little smaller than I had expected, so she's just hanging out in hand-me-downs from my Pullips until I can make her something that fits.

Luckily, I had some pants that I accidentally bought too small for my other dolls and they fit her with the legs rolled up.

      http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt206/ZennaBug/259873_10100723134075503_1339957198_n.jpg

Her name is Amber and I'm taking her to DDE this weekend to pick out a wig and some eyes, then I'll send her off for a face! I figure that I can spend the time waiting for her head to come back picking out an outfit that will suit her. I'll take non-crummy pics once she's all beautiful.

I am super pleased with her, she's even cuter than I had expected.

      *edited to fix ginormous pics*

    29. I also just received my unicorn Molly. I'm just waiting for some Mr. Super Clear so I can give her a nice faceup. I started making patterns for her last night- I don't have anything that fits her. I sort of assumed that at least the Barbie/ Pullip stuff was going to, but no luck there.

    30. Greetings everyone,

I've just ordered Lani [No-Makeup,Normal Skin,Slim Girl Body] from Cherish Doll's Faith Collection and am sooo excited! Thank you for this thread :) I'm grateful for the size comparisons and, of course, I enjoy seeing all the sweet photos of your bjd companions.

I will post images as soon as my little girl arrives. :aheartbea She and I have quite an adventure ahead as I'll be doing my very first face-up (yikes)!

      Cheers!

    31. Does anyone know how the 'new body' compares with the 'slim body'?

I have a Chubby girl, but she's on the very old body - without any joint in the torso. I'm hoping the bodies for my other two kids will arrive next week or so, and I'd like to have at least a 'placeholder' set of clothes for them...

Soulosphere, congratulations on your new Lani.

    32. I don't have a slim body to compare. "New Body" is wider then the slim body making a little bit mature looking. Only thing I can tell with the comparison pics on CD site, is the "New Body" doesn't have the waist joint and the knee joint seems different. They both have DJ elbows and torso joint.

Slmi body is awesome for those who have troubles finding clothes for the "New Body" since they can wear Blythe and Rica clothing including shoes.

    33. She looks cute! Looking forward in seeing her face up.
Cherish is having a last event of the year for those who want to take advantage of that, and on the 7th they are releasing limited Chubby and Ally fullsets. They look freakin cute in their winter attires .3.

    34. Does anyone know what body type the new Abby & Chubby limiteds are? Cherishdoll site is soooo slow loading right now, I can't get to their Q&A board...

    35. I think they use the new bodies (NOT slim) for their full set limited dolls from I notice from their previous ltds. Best way is to ask them to be 100% sure before ordering.

    36. Thanks, I'm really excited. This is the first time I've sent a doll away for any kind of customization and I can't wait to see what she looks like all put together! :)

    37. Thanks, that's what I thought too. I've got a post asking this on the Cherishdoll Q&A forum, but they haven't answered yet...

    38. Finally got an answer from Cherish on the Abby & Chubby 2012 winter limiteds --

      Hi
      Thank you for your inquiry!
The limited edition has "New body", not "Slim body"
      Thank you.

      Cherish

    39. It takes about a day to get a reply back from them, unless you post on a Friday you won't get a reply back until Monday. I figured they use the newer bodies :3

    40. So I was looking on the migidoll site and they have a prince set of clothing... Do you thing it would fit the cherishdoll. They have a m-tiny modeling it but the clothes are from cherish doll. Need help >.<! Thx in advance.

    41. Considering their M-Tiny line is the basic YoSd size probably won't fit on Faiths. I have a YoSd size doll, and her clothes are to big for my Faith doll. I do love the princess dress.

    42. I got Amber's head back from Eludys! She's just stunning. :) It's amazing what a great faceup does for a doll, she looks so different!

Now I just need to get her body and wig back too, I sent them off so she could get a custom kigu to complete her unicorn outfit. The body had to go because she's such a weird size and the wig is so the tail and mane on the kigu will match. :)

    43. Can, anyone tell me what sculpt my girl is? i've always wondered, i got her second hand. :S
it's really worrysome, to go to the company site, and NOT be able to find her...

    44. There's nothing on the inside of her headcap? My Molly has her name carved in there but I don't know when they started to do that.

    45. I got my Beau in last month, and she's really cute. But really pale, and I ordered NS.

I sent Cherish a message and asked them if it was NS or WS and they just told me "We're glad you like our doll, and we will be releasing more soon." So in other words, they didn't answer.

This is actually a very good picture of how her skintone looks. It's not washed out or anything.
Anyone know what skin tone that is?

    46. Oh i think i understand my confusion.. i think the sculpt... was a boy, >.< i was told it was a girl! Oh that is a relief.. the name was in the headcap! for almost a year, i was afraid that.. she was ah.. >.> a *whispers* bootlegged.......doll, because i couldn't find HER...

Also, Kielin, i think that is WS, or atleast i would call it such.. and she is very cute

    47. Oh good! So, who is she? :)

    48. @Kielin: It's hard to tell with the lighting. I can't say it's WS because the resin looks slightly peachy/pinkish.

@Shadrel: That is why I like about Faiths. Their sculpts are universal. I seen couple boy sculpts made into cute girls and visa versa. So originally the sculpt was a boy, but the previous owner made him into a girl.

    49. Then it's NS. If it was WS is would have a slight yellow tint or warm butter look. I don't own a NS Cherishdoll to compare. I learned that promo pics don't always turn out be the same color when you physically seen the doll. I thought I had a wrong resin color when I ordered a tan doll only to find she look nothing like the promo pics. Company told me that resin batches varies. I just happened to get the darker batch of tan skin. In this case you might got a lighter batch of NS. Either way she looks super cute.

    50. Okay. :) I was just wondering because my friend has a Beau in NS and she's really peachy/yellow/pinky yanno.
So I just wanted to make sure they sent me the right color since they are quite different.

She is adorable though, either way. :D The NS I was thinking of when I ordered her would have been better at the time, but when she came in she decided she wanted to be a different character, and this color works better for what she will be now.

    51. That happened to me with my tan doll. I totally didn't expect her to have more of an olive tone then normal light tan like in the images. I love her regardless. I'm looking forward seeing what you have in store for your girl :sweat

Speaking of which. I took Miyu out of her box to restring her properly (I don't care the way Cherish string them. It was a pain in the arse to make super tiny s hooks.) I couldn't believe how much she yellowed. I like her buttery look now :3 Poor thing needs new clothes and face up. Anyways with the new stringing and s hooks, she poses soo much better when I first got her.

    52. I need to get to restringing mine. I'm just so tired of restringing every doll that I get as soon as they come in. lol

    53. Hello there Faith owners :) I've been stalking this thread for a long time, now when i ordered my Faith (after few months of saving) i finally feel free to write here xD Actually i ordered her a month ago, but since then, i got busy with clothes making.... and i had to overcome my shyness ^^;
Anyway, my Pia (i want to name her Irulana) should be ready soon, i think...
How long did you wait for your Faith from Cherish company? I ordered Pia with make-up and it says that they need 4 weeks to prepare for shipping. It's over 4 weeks and my order status hasn't changed, so i'm getting a bit nervous >w< I can't wait to have her home. This is my very first BJD, so i'm kinda newbie in this ;D

    54. My beau took 2 weeks to make/ship, but she was blank.

I would post on their Q&A, and see what's up. :)
They are pretty slow to answer though.

    55. I got a third hand Chubby boy last weekend, although he has such a cute face that I'm thinking about switching him to a girl. In the process of making clothes as we speak and I'll be sure to post pictures when its ready. I honestly didn't know this size or company existed until I ran into the person selling him at a meetup. Glad I did though as he/she is rapidly becoming one of my favorites :)

    56. Thanks, Kielin :) I wrote in Q&A, though as you said, they're not too fast with replies xD

Yup, ankhensepnamun, Cherish tinies are so cute, i fell in love at first sight <3 Chubby looks girlish enough to switch gender imo :3

Can't wait for more pics, Faiths need more love and pic-spam~
