I don’t have an Ethan yet! I’ve been going back and forth between him or Hugh while I save up for the purchase. I like both of them, and now Sean too! Their boys are proving to be quite the temptation for me, lol.

Hi all! I'm not sure if this is the right place, but does anyone have any experience with Charm Doll's tan resin? I'm still a newbie and tan resin scares me a bit (I've heard tale of horrible seam lines, sanding marks, and turning green) but Im falling in love with Hugh and Ethan and would love some variation in my crew.

I don't have experience with CharmDoll's resin, but as they are a sister company to Loongsoul, I would assume they have the same caster. My Loongsoul tan is beautiful and slightly translucent--imported (environmental) tan. There are no sanding marks or seam lines. I purchased it recently so I can't tell you about greening, but it may have some UV protection as environmental tends to.

@schmooples I don't blame you one bit for being smitten with those sculpts. Hugh is on my wish-list...... and I hope the powers of the Dolly Universe are kind to you. This isn't a company that's seen enough, but their dolls certainly look gorgeous!

 

@mollym thank you! I found them while I was trolling through Alice's Collections and was super surprised when I searched Instagram and didn't find their hashtags overflowing with pictures. They definitely need more love.

I have a LoongSoul tan from 2013 (Lion-Elsa) and she has no problems whatsoever. It's a beautiful soft medium tan and there are no seamlines or flaws. Most greening was an issue in the early tan days, especially with Iplehouse. (Akando's) Many companies have fixed these issues over the years or learned from other companies mistakes.

In the meantime, I've ordered a Chihuo head seeing as he was being discontinued. I'm thinking of ordering a Doll Chateau body for him, possibly the A-body-08 which is 72cm. The neck and shoulders might be fine? It's a demon head, so the alien-ness of a DC body might work.

I'm not sure about the hybrid, but it sounds neat! If you decide on it I'd love to see pictures. I've been trying to figure out a good hybrid for my DC Snowborn floating head, but think I'll probably end up having him on the A-body-08, it's a really lovely body.

I'm having such a hard time to find information about Charm doll's resin, so I'm going to ask her.
Do you know anything about what matches the different resins from Charm doll? I'm trying to get an idea of the resins so I can decide which resin to order

 

I’m sure charmdoll releases wonderful sculpts, and I know they’re newer but I had an awful experience with them. I ordered a charmdoll gale through them and he took seven months to get here, when he did his proportions were really off and his faceup just wasn’t what I wanted. I just wasn’t expecting it and ended up putting him up for sale the same day. (Luckily I was able to sell him to a wonderful new home with an owner who adores him! I still get updates and it makes me really happy)

Im so excited for him, I ordered him in the prince outfit and the prince faceup. I hope the jointed hands I ordered him fits and is an okay skin color match

He is in the solid white resin color.
I looked around about french resin since they only offer french now, and I dont like it and how light shines through it
I prefer the solid color. I did ask if they were going to bring it back but i never got a reply so Im not holding my breath.

Im happy that Joanna isnt limited because I want her, but only if she comes in solid resin.

I hope to post pictures of him when he arrives, he has a very sweet face

 

I am waiting for my Sean as well he'll be in normal skin and so far it seems their French resin is not as transparent as in some other companies. Someone here at the forums has quite an old white skin Charmdoll and she looks great!

@GreenTeaSlug has yours arrived yet? I keep looking for owner photos since mine is on layaway and will probably take a while longer anyway

 

Mine arrived and I love him so much, the clothes, the faceup and the resin feels amazing.

Im still sad that solid resin isnt a choice anymore, but Im glad I could atleast have Sean in that resin atleast. Joanna and their daughter will have to wait until they bring back that choice.

@Dei Im sorry for the bad quality, I really tried but Im really inept with photography it seems. All of the photos I took, except this one, turned out a blurry mess lol! Ill have to fiddle with the camera and the setup more



I changed the eyeballs to soul in a box, I didnt like the default eyeballs, felt they were too big and too cartoony lol

It's the first time in ages that I bought a doll without seeing any owner photos so this makes me very excited! What a cutie
What size eyes did you use? I was planning to get him something from Soul in a Box and these look perfectly sized.

 

@Dei Ill try to get more photos in now that Ive fiddled with the camera a bit and got the hang of it! I was really upset when I saw the uploaded pictures so I looked up some tutorials and recommended settings online so I think the next few ones should be better (I practiced after lol), so if theres any particular look you want to see, Ill try to do it.

The photo I posted makes his face look plump, its narrower in person, I think its the angle of the camera that changed it, Ill definitely try to capture it better

Soul in a Box to me is my favorite eye maker, affordable, and shes very nice and also, the eyes are very clear

His page recommends 14-16 but I found those too big in my opinion

 

I did some new photos and they look closer to how he looks in real life, I was not happy at all with the older photo

The jointed hands from Legend Doll I got him are an okay match, but its obviously different. Charmdoll white is paper white, Legend Doll white is a off white color, I think it would look okay with cuffs hiding the difference but its not a great match

 

Thank you so much for the photos and the review @GreenTeaSlug He is gorgeous I absolutely adore his face up as well, it makes him look very soft and prince-like, and I think it suits him even better than the official promo look (not to mention the official promo hat is just a tad too small for his head!) The face proportions are on point and his cheekbones are to die for

 

I was wondering about the white. I have two heads from the discontinuation they did, and they both have an undertone and aren't paper white. I wonder if it's a batch difference or they changed it.

 

@Bristol Is it blank or did they blush it?
I noticed that my Loongsoul's face had peach undertones, but the back of the head and the headcap was paper white, so it might be heavy blushing. Im going to be sending her off to a faceup because I didnt like LS's faceup, it didnt look as nice as the promo pictures.

I can take a picture of the headcaps if you want? Loongsoul and Charmdoll are sister companies so they use the same resin. Both resin is the solid one, before they changed to the french resin. Fusang is a year older, so

I can take a picture of LS white headcap + CD white headcap + Legend doll white hands on white paper for more realistic color if you would like?

edit: I went ahead and did it since I had time to kill lol



In the photo it looks very similar, but in person CD is quite a bit whiter than the legend doll and LS doll white, I think once CD mellows out a bit, it will look like legend doll and Loongsoul, because I remember LS being stark white when she arrived too

@Dei Thank you! I saw Sean in the prince look before they debuted him in the black suit, he had the prince outfit and was photographed as a prince next to Joanna the princess. I loved that look so much and was so happy that CD said they would paint him for me in the prince style

 

No, I purchased both heads blank. I do have LoongSoul's in white, pink and tan and even the whites aren't paper white. (Granted they're several years old now, but they didn't arrive paper white)

When I think paper white, I think ResinSoul.

 

Any 1/6 Charmdoll discussions?

 

I’m planning to order CharmDoll Anthee and Michelle soon. I think I sill havd Michelle on layaway at Alice’s Collections and purchase Anthee in full. How long have you waited guys for these dolls to be done? Does it really take 3 friggin months???? I hope not that long.. 2 months is tolerable, could not wait 3 months

I been eyeing charm doll SDs but how do they pose? Any issues?

Mine came strung extremely tight and has pretty limited posing, but I might've just been unlucky. And it's kinda my fault for being too chicken to even try restringing her.

Does it really pose that bad right after got it out of the box? too bad it needs to be restrung.

 

The 70 male one I have came to me perfectly strung out of the box, no issues with that so maybe its on a doll to doll basis?

His posing isnt as great as their sister company Loongsoul but that is big shoes to fill, because to me loongsoul are the best posers around anyway to me, none comes even close to being as good as Loongsoul in that area

His posing I would say is average or a little better because he is able to hold it without sueding

 

My Sean arrived a few weeks ago and he already has a face! I ordered him blank but was fortunate enough to snatch a faceup slot at my favourite artist so he came back last week and I am in love

As for resin quality, I ordered normal yellow and he is very pale, definitely paler than my other normal yellow dolls. The environmental resin is just slightly transluscent which is a bit strange for me since I haven't actually owned a doll made of it before, but I got used to it quickly. There are no seamlines at all, in fact he is so smooth that he's shiny

As for posing, he came very nicely strung and maybe my expectations are low since I own a Dollshe Pure body () but he poses like a dream! I especially like the way his joints lock, they make him very very stable. He had no problem at all sitting on a high stool and did not need any additional support:

I ordered him on a long layaway via ACBJD and by the time I paid him off he was ready and was sent to me the next day! So all in all a great buyer experience

More Nastya spam to fill the void! Been finally putting in a bit of effort to better customize her into the intended character; I tried dyeing her wig burgundy red and it ended up bright pink instead, but whatever works. B) Also finally ordering her some eyes that should fit her weird eyewells (after like two years of having the defaults lol, am terrible doll mom).

 

I'm a little worried, due to the nCoV outbreak... doll production may be delayed. I ordered for Charmdoll - Kris

 

You could always ask the vendor if that's a problem in the region. The thing to keep in mind, is it's really good to still buy from Chinese doll makers, because they still need the income in their time of need. I'm sure most of us understand that there may be significant delays, but it's because many lives are changing and possibly even ending. Everyone is looking forward to things getting healthy again.

 

I finally got to take some pictures of my 26 cm Charm doll Winnie.
She's normal pink and has company face up + body blushing.
The pink is very light in comparison to other companies.

 

Does anyone know how often Charmdoll has a sale and what heir sales usually apply to? Like is it a general % off sale?

 

Not too often. Maybe twice a year? I got my DingDang during a sale and I think it was like 15% off or something? I could be wrong, of course.

 

the lowest is 20% or 15% off I guess? usually during China's national day, 11.11 period or Chinese new year period.

 

Does anyone have resin comparisons for Charm Doll and Fairyland NS? I have some floating Fairyland heads and I really like the Charm Doll bodies.

Hey Miyuki could you share the pics again? they weren't displayed on the screen. I'm thinking hard between pink and white skin but if the company does whole body blushing then white may not be too bad.

I'm planning to order Cora. Couldn't find any owner pics on the Internet. Look like she's not super popular but I love her face feature and the company makeup for her.

 

So do Loongsoul bodies work with Charmdoll heads? I like the Charmdoll male bodies but I wish we had options for the male parts.

Hello, everybody in this thread!
I didn't know where to address my question and decided to ask here. An acquaintance of mine would like to change palm parts of current Dollzone B70-004 body onto more delicate ones and stop the choice on Charm Doll hands. But we cannot understand, if their wrist joint will fit, because there is no info about a wrist circumference of original Charm Doll body (CDB-B71-01).
Can someone here give me this measure or, maybe, approximate wrist ball diameter of CD hands?

 

@Nata-eslava just in case anyone here can't do the measurement for you, you might also be able to get an answer from asking Alice's Collections!
