Ok so since the first meet went well, it was suggested that there be a main thread for meetups in Columbus so thats what this is! Anyone in or out of ohio that can get to Columbus is welcome to post! As for meetup scheduling for me personally weekends work better for me than during the week so hopefully we can stick to that tho it is ok if we don't!
Hooray! For me, I'm available mostly on Fridays and Saturdays. I work Sunday nights through Wednesday nights, so Thursday is also a possibility, I'll just be tired lol. It's probably too short notice to plan a Halloween meetup, huh?
In that case... anyone have any ideas where they might like to meet? I don't actually live in Columbus, so my area is probably out.
So apparently there are TWO! doll museums in Worthington, Ohio (just north of Columbus): The Doll Museum at the Old Rectory, and The Worthington Historical Society Doll Museum. Neither are BJD-specific, but two doll museums in one little town? What are the odds? Or, if we're feeling antique in general, there's also the Heritage Square Antique Mall, the Greater Columbus Antique Mall, the Eclectiques Antique Mall, or the Grandview Mercantile Review (right next to Columbus), which boasts a 22,000 square foot show room. And of course, there's always art museums. If there's a particular idea that strikes your fancy, I'm willing to volunteer to call and make sure it's okay to meet up there and take pictures and stuff.
I had a thought re: the potential Halloween meet-up. What if we made it like a little party? We could dress up our dolls for the holiday, have candy, do trades, etc. We could set up a little Halloween photo spot. I could make cupcakes! Of course, for that, we'd need a quiet location, like a library conference room or someone's place. (It's probably too expensive to rent a room at the convention center, huh?) Anyway, my main thought here was to do a sort of introductory meet, so we can all get to know one another and chat. Not that I don't love the thought of going somewhere together, I'm just tossing out another idea.
Posting again to maybe narrow down a date? Whatever we decide to do, there are only a couple of weekends I can do it. I could do the weekend of the 6th, but that's way too close probably. The weekends of the 13th and 27th I have plans with family, so I guess the weekend that works best is the weekend of the 20th. (Of course, even if we do a Halloween theme, we don't necessarily have to do it during October.) Does anyone else have dates that work best?
im free whenever but im only to get rides on the weekend and my partners mom will be gone like half of october QAQ i could maybe do the 21-22nd if anyone else is cool w that date. OH ALSO I will be going to Ohayocon next year if any of you are going to that!
Yeah I'm not planning to go to Ohayo with the current situation... I'd love to meet up for New Years' though! Do we have an idea where we might want to go?
I've never heard of Ohayocon - I'm confused? What's going on? And yes, I'd love to meet up. OK. One Google later - this is the most Ohio thing to ever Ohio. Good lawd.
I wasn't able to attend the last meetup due to a work issue, but we've finally hired some more people, so I'd love to try to attend the next one that gets planned!
im hoping we can have a spring meet! maybe somewhere outside with flowers or something for pretty pics? anyone kno a place like that?
There's the Franklin Park Conservatory? They have botanical gardens! Edit: er, actually, it's kind of expensive. ^^; I'll keep looking.
Has anyone been to Inniswood Metro Gardens? I haven't been, but the pictures on the website are gorgeous and I don't see anything listed about an entrance fee, so it might be a free park/garden?
Oh wow, this place looks cool! I love hiking, personally, and it looks like all but one of the trails are ADA compliant, so anyone can go. Looks like there's also a lot of opportunity for cool pictures! I'm totally down for meetup here! I found this on the website: "Inniswood Metro Gardens is FREE and open daily throughout the year from 6:30am to 9:00pm."
Weekends would work for me as long as its at least two weeks out! Just need to be able to request a specific day off.
I am totally, completely available the weekends of May 18 and 19, and May 25 and 26. If this sounds good, and anyone from the CLE area wants to carpool, please ping me!
I've already requested the 18th off for the reptile expo, if we plan the meet for the late afternoon, that day would be perfect for me. I'm pretty sure the reptile expo ends at 3:00, but I'm an early bird and never stay the whole time anyways.
You're going to have to remind me - I've forgotten. Franklin Park Conservatory and Kelton House are out - they close at 3 and 4 pm, respectively. I would prefer somewhere with a restroom (old person) and maybe food (same reason).
Yes, Inniswood Metro Gardens was the one people seemed to like. It's open until 9pm, and I'm all for meeting there, especially since it's spring and the flowers should be lovely.
That sounds good to me! I'll try to go to the reptile expo as soon as they open so I can leave earlier. I'm planning on bringing home a new snake baby, so I'll have to run home and get it all set up. But then I'm good to head to the gardens.
I should be able to make 3:30pm work for me. I'll just make sure I head to the expo as soon as they open. I'm planning on picking up a new baby snake so I'll have to run home after and get it situated before I head to the gardens.
I'm not in the cbus area, I'm coming from out west/south, but if you're between springfield and cbus, or in the cbus area, and you can't find a ride, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Also, anyone know who they're bringing yet? Since he missed the meetup I customized him for, I'll probably be bringing my fairyland event head/altis boy, but also maybe my spring-themed switch seolrok. Excited to see everyone's dolls!
Well, I think I'll drag bring Spouse with me, so Iris should definitely be joining, and Trinity Elysia for sure. I'll also bring some new shiny faves, and some stuff to dump swap. Don't worry - all dolls will be the biggest ones I own. And probably some snacks to share.
I’m stuck on who I’m bringing. If I cave and buy another yo-sd, the Nico twins will make their debut! Otherwise maybe my Do Dolls Dream teacup Maggie.
Okay, so I looked up driving directions and realized how large the park is! Do we have a specific meeting point?
I vote for near the entrance close to the parking lot, cuz we're going to be 2-man-carrying a life-size doll.
Near the entrance makes sense, and if we want to travel anywhere further, we can do so after we meet up.
Hi! I don't know if I'll be able to make it to many meets, but I wanted to leave a reply here so that I can find the thread easier in the future. I'm also in Columbus, near downtown! Its great to see theres people around here who are still meeting up I hope you have a nice time at Inniswood, and that the weather is good that day! I had NO IDEA there were museums with dolls anywhere around here, now I really need to try and go! Thank you for sharing these!
Yay! I was going to offer you a ride, if you don't mind sitting next to a six-foot-tall monster of a doll, lol.
Well, I don't think Iris is going to come after all. Spouse decided to stay up all night last night and is currently sleeping the day away.
I'm omw! I'll be wearing a black cat hat, red and black vest, red shirt, black jeans, gray checkered sneakers and a lot of kandi bracelets lol. I'll be bringing two msd sized dolls with me!
