March 6, 2006 was the day I welcomed home my very first BJD, a Volks SDC Kurenai, and I want to celebrate the occasion with a big project! I'm an illustration student and graphic designer, and I love to incorporate my dolls into personal projects. In the past, I've made a dOLiA*s catalog, a stop-motion movie, and a yearbook. I'm trying to think of what to do for this milestone project and I'm open to suggestions from you! I do have a tabletop gaming course starting next week, and I've been thinking about ways I might be able to sneak my dolls into those projects. Something similar to the Game of Life with the ultimate goal being to collect dolls and not be in debt As always, I'd love to do this in a full-size human scale and a 1/3 or 1/4 doll scale. I'm open to suggestions though, help me brainstorm!
Happy dolliversary! I think a game would be wonderful - maybe a pack of playing cards with your dolls on them?
A deck of playing or tarot cards could be really cool! I'd have to do a lot of research for a tarot deck though, I just know there's a lot of symbolism involved. But I do like both ideas.
I just did a choose-your-own-adventure/paper doll book for my book making class last semester Coming up with the story was the hardest part. Something to keep in mind for the future though for sure! Ooh that could be fun!
YAY! Happy Anniversary! I remember your stop-motion film. I really liked it. This March also marks my 20th anniversary too. I got my DIM Persia and a Dollmore Amos Adam in March 2006. Boy! Things sure have changed a lot since then. You are so lucky to be artistically talented! People who can draw are amazing. A full-size human scale of one of your dolls would be epic. Or, maybe, how about making your own comic book with your dolls; graphic novel style.
I love seeing long time collectors in the bjd hobby. I am on my 5th year for bjd but have had a doll collection for over 25 years. I’m glad I found this forum and happy 20th @RamenDoodles!
Congrats!!! I'm in year 22 of the BJD hobby myself. I loved your work on the dOLiA*s catalog so much and I took the chance of you linking to it to look through it again - I never grow tired of it. As for a game, I'm still heavily addicted to tabletop escape room games and something like that with a dolls related story would be really cool. (I love horror themed ER games the most, but your stuff is always so brainmeltingly lovely and cute, so that doesn't help )
