Finally getting around to making dolly versions of some Castlevania characters. Hopefully I finish a project this time. Things: Lisa—Spirtdoll proud body, Black Cherry Ashian Brave head Head is in the mail (somewhere in Moscow rn, I think), body is in the basement head arrived safely! Outfit—in progress, moving fast Outfit done! Alucard—Dollshe Khan Head is in the mail (away from me, going to get a face up), body is also in the basement Outfit—in progress, moving slow Lyudmil—Dollshe Adonis head, idk body Outfit—no Others????
Lisa outfit I'm basing it off Kojima's art, but chatter in my CV discord says that her sprite is wearing red, not black. Because I'm saving my black taffeta for Alucard's cape, I'll be making her dress in red. I'm using silk baron's red maple taffeta. If you were wondering what happens to taffeta when you throw it in the washing machine, this is it: Some wip shots Underskirt and petticoat and elliptical Poofy, poofy sleeves. A bit too poofy, in fact, and the poof should end mid bicep per the prequel comic that shipped with the Japanese version of sotn, but it looks right per the sprite Just need to finish up the back and get her some shoes. I've got some slippers I could dye. Oh! She also needs her veil.
I love it, can't wait to see more. Forever ago I made a chibi dracula and chibi soma with YoSd dolls. Castlevania is one of my favorite games
The dress is looking really good so far! I can't wait to see how all of them turn out, especially Alucard as SotN is my favorite Castlevania games.
Thank you to all comments! Her head is here (way faster that I thought it would be, last time I bought something from Russia, it took three months to ship). I'll need to remove some freckles and add some wrinkles, but she looks perfect otherwise! I also need to get a wig that fits! Black cherry dolls have such an odd skull shape... like a grey alien or something Also please excuse my incredibly messy desk. I'll need to make her a veil once I have a fitting wig, as well. And find those shoes! But after that will be Alucard's outfit, I think. His shirt is mostly cut out; I just need to sew it together. And then pants ((((
Castlevania is absolutely one of my all time favorite things, I adore this project and the fact you're basing it off of the stunning artwork SoTN was given. Lisa looks fantastic! I am very excited to follow this project along and see what else you'll craft. How many of the characters do you plan on making?
Thank you! I love silkbarons stuff (even if I hate taffeta). I love Again Kojima's art! It's all so beautiful, so I hope I can do it justice. As of right now, it's Lisa, Alucard, Lyudmil. Eventually I also plan to have a Mathias and a Dracula, but I want Mathias to be a Blueacide Ezra Miller, and I haven't seen one of those for sale for a year or two now, so it's slow going. I might also do a Maria. Lisa is tentatively done! Have an awful picture! I haven't managed to find the slippers, but they're somewhere. I just need to finish the monthly theme outfit, then I'll start work on Alucard.
Cloak time! Now that November outfit challenge is over, I can work on some Alucard stuff (while ignoring those cosplays I need to make for katsu lolololol) My Lestat (rip Anne) for November was pretty much a trial version of some things I wanted to do for Alucard, namely the shirt, cloak and pants. The cloak and my reference, a NECA Alucard figure. You can see the way the fabric is pleated very well here. I'll be using a ribbed taffeta for the lining, and Charmeuse for the outer The ribbing gives it a fun bit of texture. Idk why I took a picture of this but check out my ironing board. Ive set this thing on fire three times now, not counting the rayon cover I had before this that went up entirely. I've got a fire extinguisher in the laundry room for a reason. Here's the cape! It's a slightly more exaggerated and dramatic version of Lestat's, with a larger and higher collar (and a bit of stray thread that I'm just now noticing lmao) Next the shirt, I think. Hopefully his head arrives sometime soon
Small update: Made a shirt for Alucard Uh Dollshe nipples sure are cold. Regardless, I'm drafting the pattern for his studded vest. I'm waffling between two different velvets to line it. At this point I think I'll just close my eyes and point. Otherwise! I dyed some habotai for Death's cloak. He's a model skeleton (not a doll, a prop), and he's a fair bit bigger than everyone else, but that's fitting. Dramatically unironed fabric. Hopefully I can finish Alucard's vest and pants before the end of the month but I work slowly, so.
I live! Radio silence for a while now, huh? I remade Alucard's shirt to something that better resembled the collar in the official art (also it's now a button up, because i had to dislocate his shoulders to get the original shirt on and off). I also made a cravat (although I can't tell if he's just wearing a little bow in the original art) And of course! His heads back! It's been back for a while actually I'm just very slow. He's currently getting a wig, which I've had some trouble with as I recently ran out of mohair and my supplier is no longer on Etsy. Oh well, I'm sure I'll find something. Fear his male pattern baldness: Fear my messy desk too. I need to do his pants next, as I can't move onto his coat without doing his vest clasps, and I'm waiting for some jewelry findings to see if those will be viable options. Ta for now!
Wonderful! I love Castlevania and Ayami Kojima is one of my favorite artists! I can’t wait to see how they turn out
Incredible!! I have always found the original art for Castlevania to be so inspiring- I can't wait to see where you take this project!! Looking excellent thus far.
It dawned on me that I haven't actually shared a picture of Alucard all done up yet. Here he is in his wig and closed vest. The buckles are magnetic bracelet clasps I got on Etsy. I was hoping to find two piece watch clasps, but the magnetic ones serve just fine. He also has pants but I don't have a photo of those at the moment. His legs are snappy. I think it's a Dollshe engineering thing because they're like that regardless if the stringing is loose or tight. I've already hot glue sueded the knees and hips, so I think the next step will be to wire the knees. Hopefully he'll actually stand once I do that. Boots! Alucard actually has heeled feet (stuck the extra flipflop feet in boiling water and reshaped them, resulting in a small crack on the bottom of the toes that has since been filled with super glue), and I haven't been able to find heeled shoes for dolls with giant Dollshe feet, so I suppose I've got to make my own, or alter them, as it were. I ordered a plain pair of black boots from Alice collections, and stacked some scrap strips of leather until the height was enough for the toe to be flush with the ground. Before: After The boots were also boiled and bent to more of a heel shape. I need to finish carving the heel, and to add the white cuff at the top of the boot. Next is the belt, then the jacket, and the ties for the cape, and I think I'm close to done! Ah... And the sword. I've got some ideas for that, but nothing concrete yet.
Holy cow he looks so good! That faccceeeeee Magnetic clasps are a great idea, they looks really good. And I admire your bravery to reshape his feet and then have to reshape his boots . Excited to see more progress
Thank you! The faceup is by Komorebidolls. It's gorgeous—i keep staring at the slight shimmer around the eyes. Hopefully I can give him an outfit to do the face justice! I've been working on his jacket and finishing up his boots. Jacket is done but for the cuffs and the braiding—I have the buttons but need to buy some thin flat braid. Not really sure what size I'll end up needing, but I'm getting 1/16th to start with. I was worried the jacket was too short, but it falls to just above his knees, like in the art. I believe my perception has been altered by his awful animated design, where the jacket is longer to make up for the fact that he doesn't have a cape. And the boots now have a cuff and a heel. The cuff is the same fabric as that of his cape. I need to polish up the heel a bit, but it's going.
Ooh I adore the lining on the jacket! Looks so perfect so far! And I can't agree more re: his animated design being awful. I'm very eager to see this all come together!
Thanks! Once I'm finished, I'll list all the materials I used and where I got them. Now! Onto the progress! His jacket is finished! I still think it ought to be a little longer, but I'm not about to recut all that fabric. Here he is all put together! He's going on tentative display for now—he's not finished, but everything left requires metalworking and I hate doing that in summer when it's so humid and disgusting. His buttons are unfortunately glued on, as I had to cut the shank off so they wouldn't stick out distractingly from the fabric. "Relationship troubles? You should just turn him into a vampire and foster dependency so he has no choice but to stay with you. There are no possible downsides to this course of action." (Also holy shit are dollshes badly engineered now. Khan outright refuses to stand, and has the most buckley knees I've ever seen. He's hot glue sueded but it does absolutely nothing. I really didn't want to wire him, but I think I'll have to)
