OT/General Casting Services?

Aug 12, 2013

    1. So, I've been doing research on casting services, and I've managed to find all the information on casting from Dollshe. However, I've seen that several users on here have dolls cast by Weiju Toys, and I cannot find a website for their casting services anywhere. Could someone please send me a link to their casting information? Thank you :o

    2. they don't have a website but you can contact them through jpop dolls

    3. They don't? Oh, that's a bit annoying ^^'. Ah well, thank you. By any chance do you know anything about their pricing or minimum orders?

    4. I think there's a 50 doll minimum, I think. You should do a search for weiju in this forum since quite a few people have used it. Or email weiju. Email addresses can be found at the bottom of jpopdoll's home page.

    5. holy shit, 50? 0_o that's way more than I would want to do.....wow

well, thank you for that Penguu, and Anemaal, thank you for linking me to the thread~ I look forward to reading through it.

    6. you should email them. Apparently price and minimums can vary depending on the size and complexity of the sculpt. You should contact them with your project details and get a quote.

A quick search reveals that there are other casting services in China. One company on taobao has a minimum of 5 (but doesn't offer environmental resin).

    7. Once I get closer to wanting to cast, I think I will email them :o. I want to see if I can find any casting companies in the US first, save a little on shipping, lol

    8. If you find a US service, let us know! I'm sure a lot of us are in the market of a service that's close and doesn't need translation!

    9. The casting quality looks very good. My only concern is with the type of resin they use. With the Asian casting services they either have a Japanese brand (I think) or a Chinese one or in the case of environmental resin, a Chinese product possibly formulated by a Canadian company. Are these materials available to US companies?

    10. huh, I have no idea...it would be a good question to ask them

    11. I've never heard of those companies before! I hope someone tries them out so we can see how they are... Communication would be much easier at least. The second one, I sort of discounted since they don't mention BJDs in particular. I wouldn't want my doll cast by anyone who doesn't specifically work with BJDs.

    12. I really like the idea of a US based casting company. I would be so nervous sending my sculpt overseas! But that TORK blog hasn't been updated in 3 years. Do you know if they are still in business?

    13. let us know what they say

    14. I left a message- but got an email instead lol.

They are still in business and still cast dolls. I'm waiting for a reply on my questions... they mentioned doing an install so it might be a few days.

    15. :love They worked for Batchix? Omg the Machina is like, my favorite piece! I hope you can get more answers, but what do they mean by install?

    16. oh...that sucks. It was a while back though, so I'll still email them, but ok, Karlyl's site is winning so far.

    17. Yea I never got a reply back from Tork.
I actually met Karlyl in person- and the dolls she casted herself. No bubbles, beautiful resin and she herself is super nice.

    18. I've used Karlyl's for an off-topic doll head and limbs in the same scale as an msd and she did a fantastic, professional job. Slightly translucent resin, good color matching, very small quantities, reasonable pricing, excellent communication. I recommend her!
