Casting Casting heads and eye cutouts

Jan 11, 2008

    1. This is probably a silly question but for those that have cast their own resin heads, how are the eyeholes cut out for the eyes?

Are they cut out when the resin is still a little soft and is an exacto knife used or do they need to be dremeled out?

I suppose the same would also apply to open mouths?

    2. Kaye has this great tutorial:

Patl also has one, but without a core mold for inside the head:

Batchix recently posted one as well:

Basically the two halves (inner and outer) of the mold must meet or very nearly meet where you want to have those types of openings. There may be a thin film of resin to cut out after the resin is cured, but not solid resin to hack out.
