20–39cm Dolls Carie Has Arrived!

My first doll purchase in nearly 20 years has finally arrived! I was told she was going to take much longer than the original 5 month wait time, but here she is! She still has an extra human body on the way (it's shipped but not in the US yet). I worried that her little ballerina feet might become "too much" and I thought I might get tired of her being a bug after a while, so I bought an extra body during the sale event. I figured it would be easier to just pop her head onto a complete body when she wants to be "incognito"

She did not ship with eyes, so I purchased eyes for her during the Withdoll Ririfi sale. I felt they matched her character. Right away, I realized the irises were MUCH too big, despite her sale page saying she takes 16mm eyes. But I put them in anyway, because they are the only pink eyes I have, everything else is green and blue. They looked strange at first, but they grew on me quickly, as I realized they just give her a more bug-like look. I absolutely LOVE her!

My biggest niggle is that the wig, while adorable, is kind of...weird with the wig cap showing through the bangs. I have another wig on hand for her to try, but it was a little disappointing to find, especially because the hair style is so cute. It might not be as noticeable on a different skin tone, but against the white of her forehead, it really stands out.

Also, her bug butt magnet isn't strong enough to really hold through her tutu skirt. I left it open in the back to give it lots of space, but it tends to want to hang onto her belt clasp instead. I ended up using the tutu tie ribbon to hold it in the right spot. Her elf ear caps are also held on with some eye putty, because there was no other way to get them to stay put and they just sit there over her ears. And one of her little wing bits doesn't want to stay in, so I'm using some eye putty in the hole for that. AND, the grommets from her tutu are somewhat sharp, so I have a light piece of fabric to shield her back from them.

All in all, she's the cutest little bug! I love her to bits. Since this is my first new doll since 2007, a LOT has changed. I wanted a modern doll with all the new fancy joints and she has them all! It's been so much fun just seeing what sort of poses she can get up to! I can't wait for her human body to arrive! BONUS! SHE STANDS ON THOSE BALLERINA TOES! I didn't think she would really be able to! It's precarious, but it can be done!

I did a quick unboxing. She was rather cold, but not frozen. She was VERY well packaged and I'm glad to find that nothing was broken. All of her paint and blushing is beautiful and not chipped. Even my husband, who had no idea she was arriving until I was cutting open the box, said she's adorable and her pout is just too much!

The wig came in its own box! I was shocked! I'm used to wigs showing up crammed in boxes, but I guess those twin tails deserved luxury! I'm not complaining.

Thank you! I will definitely do more pictures with her in her human body when it gets here. I have her other wig on her now and it gives her more of an ethereal look, which I am also loving. It's super cold and snowy, so I may get her a winter outfit before doing a lot of pictures. I did some out in the garden for better light and I felt bad that she was out in her tutu!

 

It's cool, huh? It had a fancy sleeve that went over the box to protect it. I'm going to be so disappointed with every wig that doesn't come in a box now!

I have pinched her cheeks...it was a mighty glare! I then patted her head and received a "hmph" and further glaring! I've been known to boop her ballerina feets too.
