HI i'm Donny from indonesia. i'm a newbie sculptor. i just want to share my newly born BJD her name is LiV. sorry 4 my crapy english. she's still naked and bald, no one sold BJD supply in indonesia. i guess i'll have to make my own wig and clothes (or my girlfriend will) i started this sculpt just to give a special birthday gift for my girl. i posted the WIP pic to a local forum called KAFEGAUL. then someone called me and invite me to a toy exibition, so i say OK. i only got these WIP pic i sculpt it in regular airdrying clay called KERAMIPLAST it's LYRA product. with a foam core to create a hollow sculpt. then i molded and casted it in polyurethane resin
People will certainly love this in the Artists' subforum, which is where these types of threads should go! This subforum is more concerned with modifying existing dolls. She's lovely.
Wow! That really inspires me to try this out. You are really talented and she looks great! How long did it take you?
OMG another Indonesian! And you already making your BJD xDDDD hi there~~~ *waves* Ahahahaha I'm in Jakarta now, and in the process of making my own line/brand of BJD too~~ I wonder if we will be able to meet up someday ^^/
she is gorgeous!! you could make casts of her and sell them, and you would quickly have the money to afford a BJD ^^
wow, so many feedback.. thank you so much everyone. it tooks me 2 week to build this. the scetches in the back is my blue print. always draw your blueprint before making your own BJD. that way u'll easily get a proportional body. @aramaki HEI THERE, we should make our BJD company!! like.... ARAMADON haha.. seriously, partnership would be great BTW my girlfriend is a fashion design student, she will make all the outfit for LiV. @MaskTheEnd sure!! i'll cast and sell her soon, but it's hard to get a good quality resin in Indonesia. i don't want to sell bad quality BJD i've break one of my BJD copy just now.... ARAMAKI could you help me out with the resin?
What a wonderful job you've done! She is a very beautiful doll, her limbs are so sleek and smooth looking. I am impressed! All the best! :-)
WOW I've always wanted to make one but I don't know where to go to learn how. It seems hard, I wish I had a teacher...
wow, it's my first BJD sculpt and i'm glad everyone liked it here's another pic, she has an outfit and wig now. my girlfriend made all the outfit. i change the eyes to acrylic. sorry for bad quality pictures @indigo that's why i made the body with no articulation point. i just want her to have a nice and smooth body. @aramaki a good quality resin. french resin? or anything else ussualy used for BJD production. i'll drop you a PM. @gumbijusti Try to make one gumbijusti. u don't need a teacher, when there's a will, you'll always find a way. @sakuralee Thanks, i'm glad u liked it.
She's very pretty and your girlfriend is also a great clothes designer. I like the acrylic eyes, she's fabulous!!
I'm really impressed by this! I'm still new to BJDs, so I'm of course still learning about what goes into the process of making them, but I can tell a lot of love went into her. So unique, original, and gorgeous~!
Hi again, thanks for all the kind words. me and my girl planning on designing&making outfit for BJDs, and try to sell it on e-bay. indonesia have a lot of unique traditional fabric and i think i'll try to introduce those to all BJD lovers arround the world. i'll try to made the outfit on any BJD size. wish me luck. i'll post pic of it next time, Liv will be my model for those design. any opinion about it people?
Wow! Liv is an amazing doll - so beautiful. She has a very sweet look about her. And your girlfriend's fashion design for the doll is gorgous and very unique. And the idea of using traditional Indonesian fabrics is wonderful. One day I hope to make clothing from fabrics from other cultures, vintage fabrics, and unusual contemporary fabrics. I have to get over my fear of sewing and, of course, my intense fear of designing clothing (I always wanted to be a fashion or costume designer, but I am far from being either). Your doll is a great inspiration. Designing and making your own doll and in 2 weeks - that is simply amazing!
Wow, you both are so talented! Be sure to post links when you get stuff up for sale! I'm sure lots of people would love to buy from you!
I believe Bobobie does casting for doll makers if you'd want to have her professionally casted. She's beautiful!
@lilpeacey thanks, sure i'll post my link here. we're still preparing the material and all the dollfie body measurement. coz we want to make a clothing that will fit all kind of dollfie. @catwalk really?? that's my dream. i really want to be professional sculptor, and have my creation appreciated arround the world. @for all I decided to make another dolfie in SD size, the girl height is 58cm and the boys 62cm. sculpting LiV made me understand many thing about the dollfie design, joint system, minor flaws, etc. so now i have enough experience to sculpt a better dollfie. I'll post the WIP here. thanks for all the support, and wish me luck on my new dollfie. i hope someday all of u would be able to purchase one of my doll.
WOW! Beautiful doll! You did a really awesome job in making her. Shoot. Wish I had your talents. Ha-ha.
thanks a lot, your kind words convince me to make a better creation soon. @aramaki i did the face up. i used rembrandt soft pastel, polycolor water based acrylic and maimeri polycolor matt varnish (i love this varnish, so flat).
wow..and you say your new at this?!! she's completely GORGEOUS! really, if you would post her in the gallery I would think she was a professional doll 8D WOW she's just amazing >< truly..you should truly try to cast her, she's lovely, and I know ppl will love her ^_^ dont give up on your dream! some ppl here in DoA has casted their dolls! so please try to!
