I send packages from ontario to places like texas and boston extremely often. It has never taken more than 2-3 weeks to arrive at latest, even on the slowest type of services. It may not be a bad idea to just kindly ask for proof of shipment, etc... I know that weather has been bad lately, but at the 4 week mark I would grow a little concerned as a buyer. I think that anyone can understand that.
When I ship parcels to the US, it usually doesn't take any longer than two weeks to reach the buyer. That being said, I was told by the post office that there have been delays in customs, as they are checking parcels more thoroughly. I've had parcels coming to me sit in customs for over a week. However, I agree with Laelen. I'd request proof of shipment, just to put your mind at ease. When I used ebay frequently, I came across buyers who said they'd shipped an item, and when it finally arrived, I realized it hadn't actually been sent until after I'd contacted them looking for it. I've also had a parcel shipped to me from inside Canada, take over a month to reach me. I think it all depends. If worst comes to worst, you can put in a claim with paypal, and then they have to provide proof.
I'm always extremely reluctant to order anything from Canada, because inevitably shipping takes 4-6 weeks. Two packages I ordered right around Christmastime surprised me this year and got here in 1-2 weeks, but that's the fastest I've ever seen Canada Post move. Usually they like to take their sweet time. My favorite jewelry maker and eye maker are in Canada, though, so I just have to suck it up and wait. :/
The longest time it's taken for a package to travel between Canada and the US, in my experience, was nine weeks; the shortest was a few days, but that was a package sent by a large retailer (which made me suspect that those get more loving care from Canada Post than private individuals' packages). After years of experience with packages going both ways between Canada and the US, I never start worrying until a full month has gone by.
Yes there are still delays going on w anything coming in though things are finally moving in feb i suspect there is still a large amount of packages that are taking longer due to customs clearing of packages.. I waited 46 days for a doll to arrived from spain and it was shipped EMS.. others are still waiting for their dec packages that are just starting to arrive now. so in answer to your question yes there are still delays.. you have 45 days to open a claim with paypal should your item not arrive before then.
Reviving this. I shipped a simple wig to a US customer on Feb 19 via air! its hit about a month now. Im really not used to this kind of wait and am getting neurotic. Whats going on with canada post /usps??
