Anyone in Canada order a doll lately through Denverdoll? I have my eye on a couple dolls and was thinking about putting them on layaway. I had ordered a couple minifees in 2021 through them and everything was great, but now I am worried about the political climate and how much it could be costing me in duties and what not? I don't think I would be able to swing another $1000 in fees you know? So anyone order lately? How much did it all cost said and done? Thanks!
I have a doll on layaway and last time I got a doll from them in Dec 2024, I didn't get charged duties, but I got lucky. I normally get charged duties from anything from the US. I plan to pay off the doll next month, so I can keep you in the loop with any duties owed.
Thanks, I appreciate it! I know I’d expect to pay something, just scared it’s gonna be the same as what I paid for the dolls XD.
Dolls are technically duty free in Canada, but sales taxes and Canada Post handling fees can happen. With the tariff situation, I don't know what to expect!
We do pay tariffs on dolls—the tariff out of the US is 25% of the item’s declared value. Because DDE don’t underdeclare, I would expect to pay 25% of your order value + 5% GST, + pst if you live in a province that does that.
@volatilesoul My order came. DDE shipped via UPS and I was charged a total of $17. It made me wonder about what value was declared, and when I looked at the invoice, it was $71 US. The doll was worth $710. I wonder if they missed putting in the 0 at the end because DDE says they don't under declare. It was an oopsie on their end. Either way I didn't get charged any tarrifs as far as I can see.
Maybe they under declared by accident. When I received my Minifee Shiwoo just after the tariffs were implemented I was charged around 370$ in fees when it would have usually been around 150$-200$. I was not impressed to say the least and have been avoiding ordering through US dealers since. Hopefully it works out better for you.
