Hey there! I seem to have gotten myself into a bit of a predicament when restringing my Withdoll JWD Girl Body. This is, admittedly, the first doll that I've restrung because it's the first doll that REALLY needed restringing -- I can't get her (separate) head on without loosening the elastic. I was paying attention to AsenvaBJD's YouTube video about how to restring a BJD, but her doll's body seems to be quite different from the torso below than the Withdoll JWD Girl Body, so I got stuck and I'm unsure how to proceed. The part I'm having issue with is where to attach the elastic for her head. I can loop the elastic through the neck hole easily, but as far as actually looping it through an area to hold it in place with some resistance for the head, I have no idea what to do. I feel so silly for not paying more attention when I was taking her apart! In the old Withdoll body, it looks like there was a space between the leg sockets at the bottom of the torso section to loop it through, but the new body doesn't seem to have the same holes. I've attached the following pictures for your reference. ^ This is the right view of the bottom of the torso section -- the hole you see there is to hold the legs together, but it doesn't open up through the torso. ^ This is the left view of the bottom of the torso section -- same situation as the right view. ^ This is the inside of the torso joint -- I originally thought that you could loop the elastic through those "holes" that aren't actually holes, but it doesn't seem like they're connected -- they're just divots in the leg sockets and don't appear to thread through together, if that makes sense. I've successfully restrung her arms, chest, and hands, and I know that I'll be able to restring her legs too, I'm just really having trouble with this ONE spot -- I don't know how to anchor the elastic to secure her head's S-hook! I feel like I've looked all over the Internet for an answer to this. If anyone has the new Withdoll JWD Girl Body and has restrung her before, I would SUPER appreciate any help, because my poor girl is going to be in pieces until I can figure this out
Well that's... a unique design. If nobody here knows the answer (and maybe even if someone does), I think you should contact Withdoll and suggest they make a restringing tutorial like they did with the old body, because this isn't very intuitive at all!
Thank you for saying so, because those were word-for-word my exact thoughts -- this is not very intuitive at all, hahaha! I'm really hoping someone here knows the answer, but regardless, I'll email Withdoll and make the suggestion for a tutorial video for sure. There's no way I'm the only one that's ever had to restring a JWD Girl Body before!
Is there a hook (like a s hook) that loops through the "leg" holes in the torso? Could the legs be strung just to the pelvis? I don't think I've personally restrung a doll like this! It's super interesting. I hope you'll post if you figure it out!
Unfortunately no! The only S-hooks that go on her are the head hook, two hooks for the arms, and two hooks for the legs. Even so, there isn't a way to loop anything through the "leg holes" in the torso because the holes don't connect with each other! There's not, like, a throughway between them, which is so crazy to me. Thank you for your kind words! I'll certainly post if I manage to somehow figure it out!
Well, that's certainly different. Maybe you could attach it to the elastic from the arms, as one would normally use the one in the legs?
That is a fantastic idea as far as getting the head to be able to attach to the neck, but it still doesn't solve the problem of stringing the torso part (and, by extension, the legs) with the chest + neck part, unfortunately
Oh man, you're so right. I was too focused on the head that connecting the lower and upper torso slipped my mind. What a confusing design. Yeah you would think that notch down there should have a hole in it but as you've said it doesn't seem to. There's got to be a way to attach it since it was strung until you unstrung it. Maybe try to feel around in the upper part of the lower torso for a connection point? I know you can't really see in there with the legs being closed. Or if you can get a thin wire of some kind, maybe poke around that notch area just in case you managed to miss it, like if it's a small hole sitting in a weird off centered spot? Hope you'll share when you figure it out.
found this on you tube. I too have a jwd girl currently half strung in her box. Just have not had time to restring her. hope this helps.
Well, I did it! And I totally restrung her without even seeing @Zatath's brilliant video find I had no idea that any pieces were removable, but it turned out that the two holes inside of the torso did, in fact, connect -- it was just a TINY hole that was super hard to find and even harder to get some elastic through, but now that I've seen the video, it makes a lot more sense At the end of the day, I'm kind of glad that I got this "unique" body as my first experience at restringing, because perhaps it'll mean that the typical bodies I have to restring in the future might be just a little bit easier than my dear Alejandra was, hahaha. Thank you all so much for your support and for your help! I'm so glad this project was ultimately a success!
