Hi everyone! I recently started working on a little project, on the side of Ask. After watching Disney's "Frozen" for the first time, I was really inspired by their character Elsa, she's really pretty and I love, love, LOVE Idina Menzel (who's the voice actor)! Naturally, I started looking around for dolls of Elsa, and found only one I really liked; the Limited Edition Elsa from the Disney Store. Sadly, she was already sold out, and second hand she cost a small fortune (a fortune I'd rather put towards buying an Iplehouse Eric, mwhahahaha....), so I figured why not try to sculpt her myself? And so I started working on this girl. So far I think I've done okay, but I think she might end up being so much more than simply "Elsa from Frozen", I think she'll turn into my own version of Elsa, instead of copying her straight off as I thought of doing originally, and I'm hoping to use the body for future dolls, as well, but perhaps with some minor changes.
I really like what you've got done so far. I love dolls in this stage. ^^ And you seem to have a good way of tackling it. Are you using two different clays? I've always wondered how that works.
Thank you, I'm glad you like it. I, too, love dolls in this stage! Normally, I sculpt dolls in pieces, but I thought I'd try sculpting this girl in one piece, as I think it's easier to get her proportions right then. Yes, I did use two clays; I've sculpted most of my dolls with a clay called DAS, and I'm pretty satisfied with it, but I've always wanted to try using LaDoll Premix, so I bought a package just for fun, then decided to use it for this project. But since I only got one single package, I used DAS for the core. ^^; Using these two together was no problem at all.
Interesting the way you are sculpting her upright. Seems like a great way to judge proportions. Thank you for sharing!
She looks really good so far, I'm looking forward to seeing how she turns out! Her shape is really nice. I agree w/ ghostdollie, sculpting the body upright is an interesting idea, it'd be helpful to make sure the posture is correct, which is something I'm always having to fix. I might try it this way at some point.
ghostdollie: Yes, I think it's great, because I've had SO many problems with the way I've sculpted my other dolls, there was always something I had to go back and change, but with this girl, it won't be needed (as much, at least). And no problem, thanks for looking! crowtree: Thank you! Like I said to ghostdollie, I really like sculpting her upright. I did, however, mess up her core a bit, which you can see if you look at her shoulders and arms (the arms should've been a bit more straight out from the body), but otherwise it's great to sculpt this way, I really like it!
