      (commentary)

so i am like 90% done with this... as usual... but there are a couple things bothering me about this image that i either don't know how to fix or i just can't pin down what is wrong and stuff. so if anyone has any C&C feel free to give it.

      self critique:

→ HER ARM... too much blending (which was necessary imo) but as a result it appears way too 'soft' in contrast to everything else. also i can't 'shape' it at a relaxed angle that looks quite right to me, there is something a little awkward about it still even though i tried to liquify/blend/paint her arms and shoulder(s) to be more natural.

→ i don't want to get rid of the courseness or shiny-ness of the skin on her face, because i like it (personal pref?) but it means i need to make the skin on her body appear to have a rougher / sharper texture to it with a bit more....saturation? highlighting? shine? IDK.

→ i'm not sure if the background texture should be slightly more or less vibrant / saturated or if i should up the saturation on certain parts of her body such as the red lace, gold trim, or brighten her eyes more. i don't want one aspect to detract from the other.

→ finally, the cross on her neck is waaay overexposed, i really need to tone it down or shadow it without looking weird, and maybe it needs texture.

anyways, C&C or 1337 photoshop tips are appreciated if anyone wants to give them...

also, credit: the textures i used in this image were made by http://cloaks.deviantart.com/

    2. I think with the arm, it's almost too shiny and that's what's making it look so unnatural. I feel like dulling that shine and adding texture (will get to that) will help make it more natural and therefore, more relaxed.

Maybe put a texture mask over all the skin (minus her face), and make it super opaque.. but visible enough that it gives her skin more life and less of a shiny/fake look.

Take down the green tone with that background. It's a bit too vibrant.

Cross just need to be toned down. I'm personally just overlay it with some darker colours, and again, make it opaque. Just enough to take down that shine, but not too much, as I think it does look good. Just a bit too bright?

    3. Maybe it's the shade of the Crystal and not the cross that you notice, the Crystal in her collar stands apart, though you can dim the cross, or try an effect on it, a slight blur might be interesting, you get to play with different looks...
I love this picture, to be sure, when complete you can make puzzles, of her and mail to her bjd friends..
