Payment Buying from Soom via someone else's credit card...

    1. Hi all!

      So here's the situation... a dear friend of mine has offered to help me buy an MD from Soom using her credit card. I have almost no experience with cards... would there be a problem if I made the account and ordered it with her card but then, say, the details don't match? Like, the name on the card is hers, but I am listed as the recipient, etc, etc. I don't know, I suppose I'm just wondering if there'll be any snags this way :S

      It's kinda urgent... ^.^; Can someone help? Thank you so much!

    2. When ordering, there's actually an option for you to choose whether you want to ship to the address stated on the account which placed the order, or ship to a different address. If you're worried about the account name and card name being different, you could ask your friend to create an account herself, place the order with her card, and when filling in the order details, just choose to ship it to a different address (your address).

      But tbh I don't think there'd be a problem if the card name is different from the account name. :)

    6. Hmm, wait now, I think she will need to have her card registered in a program like Verified by Visa? I seem to recall this was a requirement the one time I did a direct credit card payment--I'm so sorry, this was a bit ago. :sweat So MC has its own 'verified' program, but I think if the card's not registered for VbV or somesuch, the transaction will fail with regard to Soom.

    8. Can you try to send to your friend the soom paypal address so she can pay using her paypal account with her own cc.
      Or you can try to put her cc on your paypal account and then pay thru soom paypal check out.

    9. Hmm, for the verified program thing, I use Mastercard, and what it does is basically send a code to my mobile phone, which I have to input as part of the payment process within 3 minutes. So if her friend is the one doing the payment for her, and the verified program is in operation, she would just need to be able to receive the verification code and input it while making payment. I'm not sure if you have to register for it though; I think the bank did it for me when they sent me the card.

    10. Yes, and if it's a bank card it should be done, but for one of my credit cards I had to register 'manually', which is where the issue may come in. ;)

    11. It's all been done and sorted out nicely! Friend made her account and simply changed the shipping info to mine and my Amphibel will come home soon!!! :D I'm over the moon!! Thanks so much for your help, everyone!! ^.^
