This is Ny (Tan Emily), I have her for a while though I never got around to doing proper photos of her until now.

Wow, Bambicrony needs to come up with some more Bravas. This thread is really dead!

The temps finally got down into the '80s here so on this gorgeous 88F day, we headed out for a few pics.

Here is my tan Ellen. She never seems to photograph as beautiful as she is, but here she is:

 

I was so upset when I brough my Katherine out. I had her laying on the sofa with me and my Scottie and Westie both jumped on her. One of them must have nicked her on the eye so she now has a mark on her eyelid where the paint was chipped off.

 

Beautiful girls! I love mine, but I wish Bambicrony would make her some high heel feet. I wrote to them and asked them months ago and they wrote back that they thought it was a good idea, but they were probably only being polite, so I'm ordering her some from Blue Fairy.

 

Thanks lina High heel feet would be great. I'd love to hear how those from Blue Fairy work. I'd also love to see some pictures of your Brava. You have an Isabelle, right?

I wonder if the Bravas are on hold now with the SD sized girls around.

 

I just bought my Brava a boyfriend (I hope), a Lati Blue Rei. I say "I hope" because you never know, he may turn out to be a brother. Dolls have a way of doing as they please around my house, no matter what I plan.

Here's Minnie

 

She's so pretty! Very elegant and she has such a thoughtful look. I'd love to see how she looks with the Lati

 

I think he will work for her. He is tall, with a small head and a mature body. I bought my Bambi to be a sister for my Secretdoll Yomo, but when she arrived, I discovered that her face is much smaller and her body looks more in the proportion of a young adult (in spite of her flattish chest), so I made up a new story for her and grew her up. My dolls rarely cooperate with me. Of course, I buy most of them without ever seeing them in person, so sometimes they surprise me. If the Lati turns out to be all wrong for her, I might buy an Idealian 51 for her instead. Maybe she likes older men.

 

This is my Ellen with my Lati Blue Rei:

They look ok together, but Rei's head is a bit small so the proportions feel a little awkward for me.

If your girl likes older men, you can also try Volks SDCs. Here she is with my Volks Ryu:

Ryu's head is about the same size as Rei, but his eyes are much bigger so they look a bit more in proportion to Luxe (Ellen). SDC boy heads DO fit on Lati blue bodies if you want a taller boy. The resin match is decent also.

Very cute guys! My Bambi's eyes are small compared to the other Bambis, so maybe Rei will look ok with her. I should know sometime in November when he is due to arrive.

 

Lol actually, you are probably right! I just looked back at your girl! So cute! The Lati boys are just great too, it'll be nice to see a better Bambi match for them!

 

I was surprised by her when she arrived to see that she has a really small face and head. The wig I bought her was too big and I had to buy another one. Dolls always surprise me unless I have seen one in person. I bought another doll to be a brother for my Yomo (since I failed at giving her a sister), and his head was even smaller than my Bambi's head, so he became her brother instead. For some dark psychological reason, no doubt, it bothers me to have singleton dolls, so now my one sister-to-Yomo doll has turned into three (Minnie, a brother, and a boyfriend). I sincerely hope they don't need any other cast members, although I confess I have been looking at Idealian 51's to be in this group.

 

Oh, I would love to see how an Idealian would be with the Bravas. I have a Rosette I am waiting on and someone suggested an Idealian to go with them. It would be great if they worked with Bravas, too, but I am thinking one would work better for your Isabelle, than mine with the larger eyes.

I'm like you lina, I tend to pair mine up as well. More so the SDs, but they all just seem to want to have a mate. I think that is what makes this hobby even more expensive......we have to buy male and female!

I think your right, the Lati might work very well since Isabelle's eyes are smaller. I love the large eyes on the Bravas, but it does become difficult to find them a mate.

 

I first considered a Souldoll Lester for the boyfriend, but finally decided he is just a little too big for Minnie, after seeing one next to an Idealian 51. The Idealian is slightly smaller than SD Lester, and would work fine for Minnie, if Soom will just make one that she (and I) could fall for madly. If Minnie falls for the Idealian, perhaps I could buy her a best friend to go with the Lati boy. Minifees have been growing on me lately (rolling eyes), or perhaps Bambi will make some more girls. Has anyone ever put a Brava head on a Minifee body, I wonder?

 

aLol gracie I totally agree with you on pairing up all my dolls! But Luxe (my Ellen)has especially been a royal pain to find a "special friend" for! I tried several boy dolls that just didn't work out (even with larger heads and eyes). The only doll she looked good with was my Volks Sora...Eliza...maybe Luxe just wants a girlfriend and not a boyfriend. XD

I thought about writing to Bambicrony asking them to cast more male dolls but by the looks of the website, the company may not be doing too well?

Has anyone tried a customhouse MSD with their Brava girl? I know those dolls are also hard to get a hold of, but I think the aesthetic might work really nicely (I only have CH tinies).

I'm doing a massive photoshoot this weekend so I can try to pair my Brave with almost every boy I have...if any of them look decent I'll share! Honestly, if none of my boys look good with her, I'll just have her paired up with my Sora...they both look SOOOO cute together IMO! >_< Luxe's character was supposed to be straight, but sometimes you just have to let them be who they want to be!

I was doing a photoshoot of my boys when I just happened to place Luxe next to Orion (BBB sprite/MNF B-line hybrid WS) and it was...magic!

Lol I think these two look really good together too! (Sprite is normally a girl sculpt but there are many boys too).


Even on the minifee body, he's taller than her and they look pretty good together IMO. I'll try Luxe's head on a MNF girl body later tonight or tomorrow.

I have quite a few CH SD's, but nothing smaller from them. It would be interesting to see one together with a Brava. I think it could work since the CH heads are large and their eyes are pretty big, too. I think CH is trying to do better so maybe once the money tree sprouts again, I'll try one.

I wanted a Bambi SD so bad, but I can't really order one right now. I did notice that the person who won one in the contest put it up for sale right away after getting it. Sad. I would have given it a nice home and not sold it for profit. I do hope Bambicrony is okay. I love their dolls and would hate to now be able to get anymore down the road.

Yeah it's really sad to see BC not doing so well. I think their sculpts are really nice. I'm lucky that I even got an Ellen. I was pretty close to missing out on her (I think there were like 15 tan Ellens left when I ordered her). I totally missed out on Emily and Katherine.

 

Alright! As promised I have pictures of a Brava Bambi head on a Minifee body!



Ok so we obviously have to try and ignore that it's a tan head on a NS body! XD
The proportions aren't that different from a Minifee since their heads are almost the same size (maybe a touch smaller, but the eyes and face are about the same size (at least for Ellen and June, I haven't seen any other Bravas in person). I did have to remove the neckpiece. The head just sits above the neck, the minifee neck is just a tiny bit thicker than the Brava head's neck opening so if you are looking for a more permanent hybrid, you may want to mod the neck or use a silicone disc I have this same problem with Orion so I will have to get him modded). Other than the neck being a tad longer than I'd like (and many people DO like this so it's a matter of preference really) it doesn't look bad IMO. It could work. I don't know about a resin match though, I'd like to think if both parts are WS it could work out.

Interesting! I think the Bambi head is slightly too big for my taste, but I love that Minifee body. I guess I'll just have to buy a complete Minifee at some point, just to see how Minnie's (Isabelle) head looks on it. It's funny...several years ago I sold my Unoas because I decided that mature minis were just not my thing and decided I wouldn't buy any more, but after my Brava arrived, I immediately began imagining a world around her; boyfriend, girlfriends, etc. I am hopeless I suppose. At least I haven't broken my rule about buying any dolls over 70cm.

 

Lol yeah I doubt I'll do a Brava minifee hybrid, but I think Bravas and minifees can look pretty good together.

I've had her for more than a year now and just got around sharing her pictures

I've also tried hot glue sueding on her, it did get her to pose her head,hands and feet way much better but she still won't hold D:

can anyone give me some tips on how tight the elastic should be? she's my first bjd so I'm still unsure of many things *sigh*

The elastic on my doll is tight enough that she can stand by herself. Bravas aren't the best posers, but I work with her until she does what I want.

I saw it yesterday and I'm glad they are still producing the dolls. I was a little concerned about them. They only mention the Ciao Bella dolls for the event, though.

 

O_O That's weird because a few days ago they definitely had Ellen and Emily and another doll on there too so there were seven dolls listed total... @_@

 

I have mixed feelings. I'm glad people can get the dolls they want, but my tan Mae and tan Ellen were supposedly LE. The Mae head was only available during the sale last year and Ellen was supposed to be limited to a specific number. If they are offering them again, than they weren't really that limited.

I was just going to try to sell my Mae, but I guess that is off now. I would never sell my Ellen, but I guess I feel that if something is supposed to be limited, it should be, well limited.

I'm glad Bambi is still going, but they should concentrate on new things instead of bringing out dolls they weren't supposed to be making anymore. Still, Bambi is selling Katherine through Nine9 Style even though they don't call her Katherine.

 

Yay! My Emily is home. And when I get home from work I will have to post some photos of her- she's a real beauty.

I agree with the whole problem with the tan dolls being re-released- I don't think it's fair. A lot of people will be upset about it- I hope that it works out for everyone

Renam: I got my Charlotte yesterday and I have the same problem- no matter how I restring her, I can't get her to stand without some kind of help. I really could use some re-stringing advice too, guys! Just on the string tension. I get the feeling I've strung her too tight, but I don't want her to be a 'noodle girl' like when I got her though!

 

I had the same problem with my Sisley... Back when I bought her, they said that she was a limited sculpt and only available for a very short time. So I sold another doll to be able to afford her, and later she was added as a basic sculpt.

The only difference between my Sisley and the basic Sisley is the body. The limited Sisley had the one-piece torse. But I was under the impression that the head sculpt itself was supposed to be limited when I bought her. I was a bit miffed when the basic Sisley came out, if only because I could've avoided selling that doll!

 

It looks like they'll only be available as fullsets though so in this case, it would technically be a different limited especially if the face up and outfits are completely different from the last batch.

There isn't much information about the event on the website right now, so maybe we'll have a clearer idea of what's going on closer to the actual event date.

 

There's also the issue of skin color. Bambicrony has changed its tan skin color since the older versions of Ellen, Emily, etc. were made. Therefore, even if the dolls are released in tan skin in this event or in the future, they will be different from previous versions.

greeniebone, to me the difference in the shade of tan is still pretty negligible. If someone wants a tan doll, they aren't really going to differentiate between the tan from say Christmas of 2010 and Christmas of 2011. Granted there were some tans that had issues last year, but mine were perfect so to me, a tan is a tan really.

I should have known really, though. When a BJD company means limited, they usually only mean the clothing, and sometimes they just go back on what they have said. If a sculpt can be sold again, they will do it. I only have one LE (from CH) where the sculpt has never been used again even though I have many from various companies that were supposedly LE and never to be made again. With Bambicrony, Mae didn't come with any clothing. It was the head that was supposedly limited and could only be purchased during that sale. I had mucho problemo with Bambicrony will all my orders last year so this is just another reason not to purchase directly from them ever again.

Not necessarily. If there's enough of a difference people will care as it will pretty much change the presence of the whole sculpt. The original tans that BC released looked nothing like the tans that were released last year and this year. Imagine Emily or Ellen in that more orangey looking tan-- they'd look like completely different dolls. Also if people are looking to get another body for their heads, if the tan is different, it's not going to work. So, I don't agree with you that tan is tan. Even a little variance can make a huge difference.


Personally though I do hope that the tan is close to last year's batch. I'd really love to get an Emily again. I stupidly sold mine and am starting to regret it. DX She was such a gorgeous and photogenic color.

 

taixonay, we will have to agree to disagree. I was speaking more of a whole doll and not just a head. In that case, there would be no need to look for a body to match. Also, in the case of Mae, which is one of the dolls they are reproducing, they were only made last fall, so there would be no orangey tan.

Just because a doll is made during a specific time period, doesn't mean the tan can't be different. My tan Mae is darker than my tan Ellen even though they were made at exactly the same time. They are both tan dolls and if they were the same sculpt, they would still look exactly the same even with the definite difference in shades of tan.

I do hope you are able to get your Emily. That is why I have never sold any of my BJDs. I fear I would regret it and then not be able to replace them. I know I've seen them come up in the Marketplace so hopefully you'll find one soon. If you were able to, you would save all that hassle and waiting from Bambicrony.

 

I can agree with that! Though I too was speaking in terms of whole dolls and then added the other comment about the bodies because that can get tricky as well because it seems that tan isn't a very consistent color to make. But I definitely understand where you're coming from. :>

I actually had a really good experience with BC when I got my Emily, so I'm not too worried about ordering from the company (but it might be cheaper to get her from the MP). And I wouldn't have sold her either, but at the time I needed the money. XD

 

I gotta say I'm a bit disappointed that they are re-releasing some of their limiteds again as one of the reasons that made me act up and buy them first was because they were limiteds and felt like they are special because of that :I

Lucky for the people who wanted a limited though!

I was going to try wire sueding but I couldn't find one small enough to fit, for now I'm waiting for the elastic I've ordered and hoping it will work, either way I'll try to post an update on her status then

Very sweet girls, Renam; I love pink hair. I wish BC would have more inter-changeable parts for the Brava girls, like a big bust part you could buy separately and high heel feet. I asked about them once and they said they would consider making them, but they might have just been agreeing with me to be polite. I also wish they would make a smiling Isabelle head. I love my Isabelle, but wish she had an alternate expression; I fear she will never look happy, poor girl.

As for releasing limiteds, I'm slightly disappointed because I had to JUMP on the event because there were supposedly only 45 of them. -_- I know some companies are much stricter on re-releasing limiteds than others.

I have to chime in on the tan discussion. My Ellen came with HORRIBLE seams and just as horrible sand marks. I'm in the process of getting her to someone to be sanded and blushed etc. The whole process is going to cost me about the price of a new body. Honestly, if BC's quality did improve, I'd definitely order another body (and I hope the tan didn't change because I'll be looking for a match).

You know I was wondering...I may be able to avoid all this if Resinsoul dark tan matches Bambicrony 2010 tan. The cost of their bodies would be less than the mods. 0___0 Can anyone confirm if the two match?

 

They do have a large bust part. I know, because I accidentally got it when they were supposed to ship me the small bust part.

Also, I know their light tan for sure doesn't match.

Oooh and I finally worked out the details and arranged to get Luxe's body fixed! she's getting all her seams sanded, all the sanding marks blushed and restored and a mani/pedi because she totally deserved it after such a rough start! I'm so excited! she'll be away for a month or two but I know it will be worth it!

 

Oh I almost forgot! Luxe also found her boyfriend...Gabriel (Volks Ryu):

His head is just a tiny bit smaller but you really can't tell because his eyes are the same size as Luxe (they both wear 16mm). I just LOVE how bravas look with Volks dolls!

 

Does anyone think that the tan resin is nice/better quality? (viceversa?) =) Very pretty dolls!

 

I love my tan girl, I don't have anything to compare her to, but her color is so lovely.

 

The actual tan resin itself isn't bad at all. I know I was complaining about the crappy workmanship that went into a specific batch of dolls, but if you set that aside, the resin quality is nice and photographs really nicely. It's not as heavy as say Volks, but it's not as light as resinsoul...it has a decent weight to it.

I was wondering if anyone has found any good resin matches to any of Bambicrony's resin colors? Like peach puff and the new tan? I like all three of them and I MIGHT buy another body from them for one of my other dolls (most likely WS or peach puff). I was also looking for a good resin match to their tan because I might want to get Luxe's dreaming head her own body!

 

guls, I missed you post until today. Luxe looks perfect with Gabriel. That also answered another question. Someone posted on the Rosette thread about the Volks Ryu matching with a Rosette. Since Luxe looks so perfect with him, I don't think he would work with the Rosette.

I answered your question in the tiny thread, but I'll say it again here and show some pictures. Personally, I like the peach puff better than the tan. I love my tan Ellen, but prefer her in peach puff. It is mainly just personal preference. My daughter loves thet an Ellen and won't let me sell her, lol.

While I was finding a picture of my tan Mae, I found some of the Bambis. Here is my tan Ellen. She arrived perfect, but a lot of other tan dolls that were shipped out at the same time didn't.

 

Aaaw thanks Gracie! Yeah it took me a while to find someone who would go with Luxe but I'm glad I found him! I'll add to the rosette thread about the other question on the rosette thread.
