HI! first time posting in these threads. I'm new To bjd's I recently got my first doll. My Nanasumi is a Mei, and as soon as she gets some hair I will post some pictures up here.

 

XD best thing about a new thread is all the spam that comes out of the woodwork. Love it. I'll post something soon... when I get brave enough to start my comp...

Here's some (old) Evelyn spam! I'm still waiting for her clothes and wig to come in.

 

I've had my bbb sprite for awhile now and she hasn't had any s-hooks. I'm wondering if i could buy some at home depot or a craft store and if so what size would fit my baby. I'd prefer being able to go out to a store and not have to buy online.

 

I want a post early in the thread, too! ^ ^ This's Sprite's new jacket. It matches her eyepatch.

You probably can't find any small enough off-line. Maybe at a big craft store? Home Depot/Lowes definitely don't carry any small enough...their smallest is about 6 size too big yet--at least in my town. Also, be warned that an older doll may not be able to accommodate s-hooks. Well, technically, any doll should be able to have them, but as for them actually helping with pose-ability, if the pivot piece is at the top of the foot/hand ball and not in the center, it can actually make posing worse. I discovered this with my older Lan a while back, but have since bought her new feet so she has hooks like the rest of my newer dolls. Here's a pic of what I mean:





periwinklestars--love the Yao spam! She really has such an interesting face, I love seeing owner's pics of her. I'm thinking about buying a Yao myself for a project doll eventually--she doesn't have a permanent spot in my collection, but I'd love to work on one and then maybe pass her on as a full set. I'm thinking red resin, black blushing on hooves and horns, curving the corners of her mouth up in a devious grin, and dressing her in leather dominatrix gear...a demon succubus of sorts...just seems like a ton of fun to put together!



Aaaaand, as I think I probably always do with a new thread...I vow to be more active in this one! I've been going through a big lurker phase lately and I want to get out of that.

oh god raesha my nox has the old joints and my wife and I were struggling for 2 hours to string her well enough to stand and not flop everywhere, no S hooks was so foreign to me...

 

I love Drismi's new faceup, Kayke's Li girl, Yao's face, the floating eyepatch girl and Dovani. Also, everyone else's doll. This thread is super creative I get lots of ideas from reading it.

 

Raesha: THANKS a lot for that info, same is with the hands I think... that's why I'm changing Renzo's hands too.

Azukiredbean ..."One thing that was disappointing is Nox has two dent/scrapes at the very tips of her ears. How would I fix that she also has a small scrape on her arm and I don't want to ruin her or give her more scratches" (Quote from old thread) If these are dents maybe a boiling water dip would pop them back to their original shape. That's what I would try first.

So I finally got the DJ boy body for Spock and to those of you who own it, what do you think about it? The only experience I've had with DJ bodies have been the MNFs, so this is rather weird. His knee joints don't really seem to work right, his elbow joints are always popping out and his chest joint seems...rather useless unless I pull it apart to move it. Am I doing something wrong in the posing or have you guys found this as well...I'm hoping it's just cause I'm not used to him yet, but I wanted to hear your thoughts. He's been re-strung and sueded, but that doesn't seem to be helping...

 

My boyfriend said he'd pay for half of my RS Li. I'm trying to talk him up to $140 or letting me pay him back the $40 so I can order her now. I'm so very close to getting her!

S-hooks- you can make small s-hooks that will work from the large paper clips if you have wire cutters to cut a small piece, then small pliers to curl them into shape. I made the ones for my Sprite.

For the record since I didn't note it earlier, Liv wigs do not fit, if your wondering.
I cut into the wig to get it to lay flat on her head and then lightly hot glued it down to hold in place.
It actually doesn't really look bad at all.

Catzilerella - Huh. . .That's very creative! It's good for people who don't have the money to order a wig at the same tmie as their doll, too. Their doll can look pretty in between! And it does look pretty nice.

 

hmmm...not really sure what you mean by not working right but I did do some photos, not sure if these will help...mine is not sueded or anything.

top left: elbow piece is straight with upper arm and lower arm is pivoted to side, you can see in the 3rd top photo how it looks popped out of place...top middle photo is the elbow piece and lower arm both pivoted to the side.
bottom left and middle comparison shots of arm popped out on left and middle in place. And last bottom photo of him sitting which is the one thing that bothers me with the mold legs.

 

Okay, I'm posting too often. xD; But I was looking around and wanted to see if anyone knows where I could find a leotard pattern that could fit the Bobobie mature body?

 

Thanks! Yes, I did. I might redo it again soon, as well as redoing my Li's faceup and facial mod. I'm not 100% happy with her right now, and I want to try some bright red lips!

Also, I've made S-hooks before as well, it's really easy and work just as well as store-bought!

 

Wow thanks for all the pictures of your dolls guys Seeing all those lovely dolls makes me want my own even more I just have to be patient. But really it does give me the impression that the Resinsoul doll should be more in the spotlight, seeing how unique everyone's doll is.

I also hope they (RS) will do more fantasy parts?... maybe in the future?

 

The most annoying body eveeeeeeer. The legs keep wobbling and is hard to pose and arms are hard to pose as well. I restrung and sueded him and he can pose better, but still is annoying to work with.

 

yeah the joints in the DJ legs drive me nuts. The two seperate pieces in the elbow are weird too. A normal peanut joint would work so much better.

 

Agreed! A simple peanut joint would make everyone's lives easier! Anyone care to email Sun about it?

 

Raesha, oooooh, I love your Yao idea. Now I can't wait for you to get yours! For mine, I'm planning major tattooing all over her body, with a vine/leaf motif in greens and purples. Her hooves will be the same colors. I've also ordered eyes in a different green. I am making her another costume as well (very gauzy), but this one she has on will be painted.

 

huh? I don't find it very difficult to pose my Wu at all...the only issue I have is when he sits down...like in the photo I posted earlier his knees point in..funny because it doesn't happen to my girl. But I find if I move his legs farther apart he sits just fine. The only issue I have with the DJ RS dolls is the Rong body, but even with her I have been able to figure a way to get her to sit with a little maneuvering. Kherian (DJ body) stands like a dream, much better than Tacmota (SJ body), of course I haven't put better string in him yet.

 

Weird, I found that my old RS body stands better. The new body is a mess. I really hate how they designed the legs, it's really hard to pose. And Lexington's legs have to be near-together to sit properly, if I pried open his legs[lols], he will fall back >.>

 

Raesha and cirquemom -Thanks for the advice. I'm going to check out some craft stores and if I can't find anything I'll just do it with some sturdy paper clips

 

Well in the photo his arms are kinda holding him up, but I think once I suede inside the hip sockets he should be able to sit, I'll have to try that maybe tomorrow and take another photo to post.

Boiling for dents, sanding for scratches. Sanding, I would recommend starting with a 300 grit paper, then move to a 400 grit, then a 600, then a magic eraser. That's what I'm doing to remove the greening (yellowing) from my grey Ju and it's working wonderfully!

YAY! You could always order her now with layaway! You can order on the RS site and just put a layaway request in the payment comments box (actually, there is one there by default), or I'm sure you can set that up with Sun via email too. :3

Thanks. ^_^ I'm kinda itchin' to do her, but I have too many other projects for dolls I actually intend to keep that are higher priority. My red Yao is, unfortunately, in the distant future after all my current dolls are 'finished'. Dig the green and purple idea--love those colors together. :3

I don't know how the boy body compares to the girl body, but my Li and Rong bodies are both great! The elbows are a little weird, I suppose, but I don't have trouble getting them to do what I want really. The legs work great for me (haven't sueded either of these girls at all either, btw)...they stand very solidly and look a lot better than my single jointed bodies. Yes, there is the sitting problem with the low sitting hip piece, but as we just discovered a couple days ago, RS is editing the mold to fix the problem (and if you have a dremil, you can do the fix at home easily). :3

 

LOL so he does pose like a real guy They always need to give themselves space for the bits to breathe LOL I guess it's just a mle thing still I think it does look like a natural pose.
