Blythe Customizers

Jan 13, 2018

    1. I was a bit hesitant about posting about this, because I know there are dedicated forums. I did join one a few years ago, but l lost a lot of information I had on my old computer (it died on me when it was less than a year old!). I can't remember the name of the forum or the information I used to join anymore. I just want to know if there is a legitimate way to get a Blythe head other than purchasing the whole doll (which seem to sell out pretty fast!).

I fell in love with the idea of owning a Blythe boy doll, so I have no use for the body and I want to customize the head so the factory paint is not important to me. That being said, I don't purchase fake/knockoffs, so I don't want to go the eBay route, because I know that all the blank plates and eye mechanisms are either fake copies or "factory" (stolen) dolls. So I was wondering if there is any other way to get a legitimate head for customizing, without buying the whole doll with clothes and accessories I don't need. If only Takara would release blank kits like Groove did with their Pullip line. DX Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

    2. Sadly no.

Your best bet is either the marketplace on blythekingdom.com (the biggest Blythe forum), a new release as they are cheaper than some older ones or looking at Mandarake (they have cheap ones, but most are SBL which are a pain to open)

However, apparently original Blythe bodies do sell. Like I sold mine for 20 bucks per body which imo was a lot for what is essentially a Barbie body, and an immovable one at that.

Honestly, I really wish Takara made it easier to customize Blythes like Groove did - this was one of the reasons I quit Blythes cause always buying original releases got expensive pretty fast but like you I refused to go the knockoff route.

    3. I was afraid that was the case! Thanks a lot for your input Roterwolkenvogel, I sincerely appreciate the help from a knowledgeable Blythe enthusiast.
I guess I'll have to keep my eyes pealed on Mandarake and official Japanese retailers; the latter seem to sell out of Blythe preorders as soon as they go live
(or maybe I just don't pay enough attention when they show up). If that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to join a Blythe forum once again (because that wasn't scary at all >_>;;.) .

    4. I guess that forum is no more?

    5. It looks like the Cool Cat shop is still up and running, I apologize if they're not allowed. I got my carry case from them.
