Hello! Here is a bit of a tutorial, though mostly just an explanation of how I colored my fairy’s wings. They were a clear resin, and I wasn’t sure how I was going to paint them. I don’t have an airbrush which is how I suspect is the typical way of painting the wings. But I figured blushing them with a fine glitter would create the effect I was hoping for. To start: Fairy Blushing suppliesThese were the supplies I used. Gloss spray on sealer, Pearl Ex powder in Violet-Brass, and a fluffy brush that I’ve had for ages. The method: I pat on the glitter powder, covering both the front and back of the wing. When the wing was coated, I blew off the excess powder. Make sure all the loose powder is off before spraying so it isn’t splotchy. One vs Two coats of shimmerI cannot stress enough, when you spray on the gloss sealer, use a thin coat! You don’t want the sealant to pool or drip. If it does the glitter will shift around and clump up. And it’s hard to disguise in the next layer. It’s better to spray on two thin layers of sealant than one thick layer. In the above photo I’m showing one vs two coats glitter. And vs no glitter. I was happy with just two layers. I think it has a nice opacity while still being see through. Finished wingsAbove are the wings finished! I also held them up to some light to show how they are still transparent. I love the way the glitter shifts in color! You can really see it in the reflection Fairy WingsHere are the wings on the doll! I took off her wig so that her hair didn’t cover the wings. I think they look beautiful and magical! I’m very happy with how they turned out! Me with the wings lol
Those turned out super well and your doll looks so happy to be wearing them! You should be super proud of yourself, they shine so beautifully!
