Ahhh I'm going to start this thread off with photospam haha



Here's Una with a dress I sewed for her a few days ago and the eyes I got from the marketplace for my coming doll.
Parcelforve actually attempted to deliver today (after exlivitly saying they'd deliver tomorrow!) but I was not here because I thought they wouldn't. But oh well, he's defibately coming tommorrow and I'm planning to do another box opening uvu

 

Una is so pretty! Those eyes give her a really soft look. The dress is pretty I think I need to sew my Lilly a springlike dress too. I have been sewing pyjamas for my boys but they have no wigs yet so there are no pictures .

I don't have any photos for the new thread as I've been away from my dolls for a while, but I can put in some input to the discussion about the Prince body from Daydream from the last thread. Compared to every other body I've owned/seen, the torso portion of the body was the laziest and most under-detailed of all, the stomach is just a flat surface with a tiny pinprick hole for the belly button, and the chest is sculpted really distinctly from the rest of the body, I guess I would say there's no harmony in it. The wrist movement is alright, but definitely not flexible.

Really reliable poser, sturdy stander, you can make it stand one legged. It poses pretty naturally, and I like the aesthetic of the joints. Mine came with gray scuff marks on one foot and a jut of uneven resin that looked like a cut on the same foot. I'm not impressed with their bodies, the head was gorgeous and in perfect condition so I didn't complain, but seeing as its a cheaper body, then I guess you get what you pay for. There are two whites for the white skin, the whiter one is definitely not a match for Bluefairy white, not sure about the other one. The S-hook that comes with the Daydream dolls is too big for Bluefairy dolls so you'll need to have a different one handy. It also can't slouch backwards or forwards particularly well.

When I go back home I'll take pictures of it with my Robin head on it, proportion wise I think the body is very flattering for that head. It's kind of sad that the Neo bodies have those peanut joints, since they already worked so hard to make those bodies, it's doubtful they'll try again for a new new body anytime soon. While I enjoy the classic bodies for their beauty, I feel limited with single-jointed dolls. I'd still buy them, I would just prefer not to. To this day I haven't owned a classic body even though I have four Tinyfairy heads.

And to almyki, I feel the same! I am always watching and waiting, money ready to buy dolls from Bluefairy, and they just never sell me the doll I'm looking for. If they could sort out their weird inconsistent resin color problems, availability of resin color problems, body sculpt/posability problems, and availability of certain face sculpt problems, then everything would be absolutely perfect. Bluefairy was my first BJD company, and it's still my favorite, but honestly we've reached a point right now where it feels like nothing is going right. I just want to be excited about Bluefairy, not disappointed.

NeonLanterns Thank you for posting Una! I totally love the Robin sculpt, I look forward to your box opening, I'm sure your Louis will be beautiful.

navci Woah Tomato looks great, she's really evolved over time but she still has her unique charm. Good to see her!

Beatrice w. I hope to see the pajamas when they're done, sleep wear is really cute. Do you have a pattern for the pajamas or did you make one yourself? I'm still new to sewing so I like to see how other people do their projects.

 

My Kyle arrived today! I've never ever got a doll that fast, I've just payed it last friday, and here it is already
He's very flip-flappy and loose (obvisouly needs restringing) but I'm pleasantly surprised that he still stands and stis like a dream! The Dandy hands aren't that bad in person, I mean of course they aren't "bad", they just didn't appeal to me as much as the normal boy/girl hands on the pictures. I'm probably going to modify the legs a little, they're cute but a little bit bulky, I feel like they could use some reshaping I'm not sure about the Kyle head though, it's nice and all, but I'm torn apart between sticking with Kyle and getting a Louis (or Robin?) head anyway >o<

Danny0709, thank you for giving your feedback on the prince body! I'm a bit diasponted to hear that the torso lacks detail and appeal. I mean the TF torso is pretty flat as well, but there is a nice shape to their hips and belly :3 I'd love to see some pictures of your robin head on though!

Thank you for this review. I looked around a little bit but there doesn't seem to be any NS TF and Daydream resin comparison. I'd be interested to see something like that. Despite of all of what you said, I really quite like the lady body and would be interested to see if they compare at all.
I wired all of the classic bodies I have, so I make them work for me. I am sure I can do the same for the daydream bodies. I just really don't like the look of the neo bodies .-.

NeonLanterns Louis is very handsome!!
Bluoxyde The purple pair is from Dollybird #10 and the blue set is so altered that is doesn't look like the original patterns . I would love to see your Kyle, I can't really decide which head to get my gentle boy.
I would like to have one each of Kyle ,Louis and Jerome .In my flickr and in the old thread I have a picture of blossom, gentle and prince bodies together all in normal skin. There is a small difference in color but I think it would be possible to hide most of it with the face-up. It is not really that noticeable although my pictures are not good enough to show it clearly.


Lilly refused to model boys clothes so her twin Sten and the gentle body shows them instead .
I have wired Lilly and Sten has silicone discs in his joints, I really prefer the silicone he feels very steady but easy to pose.

@NeoLanterns, actually I don't own the Louisa. This was at a meet locally. The outfit is the "Milk Chocolate" outfit. It is of fantastic quality. I am not sure how tight it is, again, since she wasn't mine. But I think most outfits tend to fit all the bodies pretty decently.

 

Bluoxyde I'm glad you're happy with the body, what a fast arrival! Kyle is a beautiful sculpt and I hope you bond, but I would always, always pick Louis myself! My first ever doll was a BF Louis and I am still in love with that sculpt even though I don't have one at the moment.

NeonLanterns So so cute, Louis is adorable on the gentle body, I'm really happy for you!!

Navci Ooo, Lady body is beautiful and still proportioned really well to go with TFs, posability is nice but I wouldn't go out and buy one for that, it's the aesthetics that make them. Unfortunately I've never had a NS Bluefairy doll to take a comparison with.. At least not a new one. I could take a comparison with a 2012 NS TF body if that helps anyone?
Your photo of your beautiful dolls just reminds me what a HUGE height difference there is between TF and SF!

I've ordered limited Minoru valentine! I'm so over the moon! I've wanted a SF for so long, but wanted WS to match my TF girls, and I didn't want a Jr body. I was pretty limited in my choices, but when they released Minoru V I thought she was so beautiful, it was now or never. I wasn't sure how I would play the squinty eyed thing for her, but I guess maybe she's a shy girl and a bit of a daydreamer ^^

I'll take photos of skin comparison soon, I have a Daydream girl on the way as we speak.

 

@navci that is such a beautifully lit photo! Outdoor photoshoots can be so finicky, but you nailed it, she is so beautiful!

Being less brave, I opted for a spring themed indoor shoot, and I changed Molly out of her cloak and corset for the first time since Dollism+ USA (oh my god has it really been seven months already?!)

NeonLanterns Your Louis is so handsome! I love the way he looks next to Una, thank you so much for posting the box opening photos, the Neo Dandy body looks beautiful to me. Why is it that the arm joints seem flattering on him when the photos I've seen of the girls have been less ideal, I mean your Louis is really cool looking. I feel like they did a better job on the Neo boys than the Neo girls.

Bluoxyde I can't wait to be reunited with my dolls again, I'll be sure to share here. And yeah I was surprised because I thought the Prince body would have the same elegant simple details like the Bluefairy body, but instead of subtle details it was just nothing. They probably did a better job on the girl and lady bodies, I haven't seen one in person though.

ourtangledbones Has it really been 7 months?? Wow time sure flies by, it was a really fun time. Molly looks charming as always, spring is a good photo theme for her. Did you ever get those Dollbakery eyes for her?

Lastbushome Congrats on the Minoru valentine! I'm so glad your doll family is coming together so well, it looks like you've found the dolls worth having. Your doll plans are so exciting. I'd love to see Grace and Evelyn and Lottie welcome her home, I hope she gets to you quickly.



In recent news... I did it!!!!!!! I finally bought my Baked Sarang!!!! Mine! I've been waiting four years to buy her, at long last she was sold to me. I'm so freaking giddy, I've been released from my suspense. I reeeally hope she's the right shade of Baked skin and not the Suntan version, I asked Minoruworld facebook if she was sure about the color and asked her to compare the resin to the resin of some owner photos other people have posted. She back-tracked at first and said she was dark, but when I said I was looking for the redder lighter one she suddenly changed her mind and said she was lighter. I'm actually very skeptical, because we've had cases where some owners received a head that didn't match the body's own resin, who's to say that she wouldn't get the total color wrong either. One photo she showed me looked right, but another one was different? The original Baked skin is my favorite resin color ever and I really want to own a doll like that, so even if the new tan is technically nice it's not worth 400+ dollars to own the wrong doll, especially since I don't have any other Bluefairy sculpts that match any characters I have with tan skin, and the Sarang is supposed to be one of the last few dolls I buy.

But like, this is an awesome thing until proven otherwise!~~~

 

Oh I've got good news from Bluefairy for everyone (I don't know if it's already known or not, but it was news to me): the classic girl/boy hands are planned to be sold separately. I wonder if they can release them soon, I'd definetly grab a pair of those!

NeonLanterns, louiiiis yaaaay, seeing the two of your dolls makes me doubt even more because I like both louis and robin a lot!

navci, Your bluefairy collection is so pretty^^ Oh don't get me started about Louis V mold, I really love it and my TF character's name is Valentine btw XD

Last_bus_home, thanks, it was crazy fast indeed! Louis is a sweet mold, it kinda reminds me of my very first BJD as well (it was a minifee Karsh, same pointy button-nose ) Congrats on your SF! I'm trying to keep my eyes off smaller dolls, but SF are pretty ^^

Thank you so much Danny0709, I can't wait to see how she looks with my girls, I'd kind of kidded myself that she would be taller so now I've seen Navci's photo, I remember how little she's going to be again!! I can't wait to have a doll I can dress like a little kid, I think of my TFs as being 13-15yrs old so the little kid look down't quite work on them.

I'm so happy for you and your Sarang! I hate to sound skeptical and I really hope I'm wrong, but the resin colour has been the darker shade ever since they released Muhui limiteds last year, I am concerned for you that it might be that same shade (which I liked myself, but it certainly was darker).

I find it interesting that apparently they thought their bodies were unimpressive, especially since that's one of the most popular aspects of BF dolls, in this BF community at least. Perhaps Korean customers have complained to them about it a lot? In any case, yes, I would be pretty frustrated if the doll I wanted was also a limited color like BS or WS, but luckily, I just want a regular old NS Emilie boy. I hope they have a classic choice event or something one day. I can wait a year or two for that. (Beyond two years and I'm sure I'll start going crazy and harassing them again.) The other girl I want is a WS Louis girl body, and I'm actually (probably) fine with the neo body for that, maybe even a bit happy to have one doll with neo joints. If she's a bit more stiff and muscular-looking, like the other new bodies seem, that actually works for her character since she's a tomboy.

Danny, I hope your new girl is what you wanted!! It is a bit frustrating, with communication and trying to make sure it's exactly what you want for the hundreds of dollars you pay... OTZ She sounds like she'll be gorgeous though!

ourtangledbones and navci, thanks for sharing your beautiful photos! I love to see BlueFairies together, especially TFs with SFs and JRs. Somehow Tomato looks better in a group, where she seems to stand out. And she's posed so cutely with those fists. I love Molly's nature-theme and mori-style fashions.

I'm also finally getting a new BF and I'm so excited, eee! I hope nothing wrong with it, the color's good and matching and no damage and the proper sculpt I wanted and everything. It'll be a Junior WS May boy with a White Winter fullset. I haven't seen a single photo of it, despite my two photo requests, but I was so impatient (and afraid they'd sell to someone else) I just paid for it and figured I'll complain afterwards if there's any issues. I asked a lot of questions, I'll admit that, so my request may have been missed/forgotten. I am super-glad that they listened to my request for a boy body instead of the girl body, so I can't be mad at BlueFairy for a while, so long as May has no issues, hahaha. I also requested two paper dolls, if it was possible... We'll see if they allow it. XD

I also bought a bunch of new clothes, wigs, and shoes to celebrate the occasion!! A bit of something for every doll =w= . From BlueFairy, Angell-Studio, and Luts! I was psyched to see the new ribbon heels at BF, and I snapped up a pair in wine. I deeply considered the JR version of the Milk Chocolate, as well as the new pink Rosette dress, but I resisted for now. It's good to hear the Milk Chocolate is really nice quality. I'm still not sure if I want it for my new JR or my future SF though. Oh... and I bought the little BF hand towel, hahaha. Plus the TF and SF torso; I think I might have bought the last TF torso they had. I really wish I could get the arms for that too, like a real store bust manikin.

Oh NeonLanterns of course! It was MangaMeow who ordered the last Gentle body wasn't it! I just say your photo of Alraune and he looked so tall and slender I got totally muddled up! Anyway, he looks great ^^ I don't mind the Neo bodies myself, I'd get a Neo girl body, or even boy or dandy, or gentle if they made one! I don't like the new Blossom chest though.

When I wrote to Bluefairy to check how long my Minoru V would take (30 days, don't know why I even asked...) I mentioned that I too preferred the Classic bodies, one more vote to keep the Classic bodies I figure!
I'm super excited about having a YoSD at last, and yes, there's a thread especially for SFs and Jrs, but it's not all that lively! I'll try to keep on topic here though I promise!

 

Here's my May I hope we can still get the classic bodies. That's honestly all I'm interested in owning XD

 

Hey everyone, wow this new thread is moving fast, I love that everyone is getting new dolls, I also love the classic bodies and I'm wondering if Bluefairy mostly got negative responses over the years and that made them decide on the renewal body. I did ask specifically when I contacted them about Olive V. and lucky me I got the classic body that I wanted. Here's a pic to show her off. I don't have a silicone cap for her yet so she's not wearing the wig I intend for her either. But I was just trying out some looks and I like this one best so far it's my Kyle Blossom's wig so she can't keep it.

These new eyes are so incredibly easy to photograph, I dont think I can ever go back to acrylics!
And congrats on your baked Sarang, Blue Fairy's tan dolls are so beautiful, I cannot wait to see some spam all around!

ourtangledbones I agree! I prefer urethane eyes or glass eyes than the acrylic one. They make dolls look so alive.

I'm so tempt to buy a NS TF Kevin in dandy body from Minoruworld page. I originally want him in that skin color and body *sigh* Should I get him and sell my old one. I'm quite attach to my own Kevin since he's my first doll and can't decide what to do yet. May be I will just let it pass T^T

It is indeed interesting to see Blue Fairy's thought on the classic body as well. I really am not objecting to them upgrading their body, it just seemed like it was going into a direction that was opposite to what made the classic body pretty.

kOii, what body is Colin on now? I think he's lovely and obviously has sentimental value, but also getting a doll exactly as you wanted can be great too and in NS I bet his skin would match Amelia's beautifully. Difficult decision! I wish you luck!!

(Speaking of resin matches, I'll compare Daydream NS with the Bluefairy dolls I have on hand and post some shots, she's due tomorrow. ^^ )

 

@Last_bus_home He's on a Dandy body right now but originally came with Gentle body (I swapped it with my Gus) It sure is a difficult one haha and now I'm so interested in Soom doll as well, they are having a free choice event right now. My money doesn't cooperate with my desire at all lol. I would love to see your comparison! and congratulation on your new doll arriving!

 

Does anyone know how you actually purchase a doll through the MW Facebook page? I'm kind of at a loss. I asked them a question, but they never got back to me...

 

If it's the first time you've contacted them, it can take a while (or at least that was the case when it was still CP, sometimes the message just doesn't get into their inbox I think (it can go into the other box by mistake) but they usually get around to it. Purchasing tends to be like purchasing from the MP on here, you discuss, ask questions, pay the amount via paypal and give them your address and they ship.
I always preferred dealing with Catherine than with BF, it was so much less formal.
Sometimes it helps to get a friend who has already bought through them to give them a nudge on your behalf.

Man I wish Bluefairy didn't discuntinue the classic bodies right now, just at the very moment I've decided to get dolls from them, so that I could get a Louis or Robin on a boy body and I'd be all set, no need to hesitate, you know. W_W

midolls*melissa, Love the Olive V, you're so lucky to get her on the classic body! I'm surprised that BF got negative feedback on their bodies in terms of posing, they aren't exactly flexible for sure, but they don't have to have double joints either.

ourtangledbones, these eyes definetly look nice, they're a bit smaller too, aren't they? I'd love to get my TF a pair of nice urethane eyes, but I haven't found any company that does red pupil+ light grey-blue iris this far.

[MENTION=38598]Bluoxyde[/MENTION] indeed, they are 14mm urethanes as opposed to the 16mm acrylic, as I've been trying to go for a more realistic look lately. I wonder if you could contact the owner of Dollbakery and ask her to make a custom pair for you? If it is just color you are changing and not the actual iris to eyeball size ratio, maybe you could work something out?

...anyone have any tips on how to control una's hair by the way? I've not had long hair myself and I have no idea how to maintain a long curly wig

 

NeonLanterns Ah, I feel your pain, I had long hair as a kid, but I cut it all off when I was 8 and have had sort short hair ever since. However, I'm a bit obsessive about doll wigs so, yes, I have done quite a bit of styling. Has she got the BF Heroine wig? I've had two of them and they can be nightmares to control. For flyaway strands I'd recommend a little bit of natural hair wax, taking care just to brush lightly over the wig itself and not too near the resin, just in case.
However, teeny hair clips and bands can go a long way and with a wig like that, pulling the front back and tying with a ribbon can make a big difference to keeping in check. My biggest tip though would be that wavy wigs are so much easier to look after than curly ones, once those curls start to separate out, they just grow wilder and wilder (I have curly hair, I can attest to this, plus this is how I made that crazy curly wig of Lottie's, by curling and then separating out), wavy wigs are never past saving!

@Bluoxyde Does Enchanted Doll eyes not make red pupil ones? I understand that they are very customizable in terms of colours?
Or, you can try MehiArt eyes? This one I have in Minerva is 14mm as well and she does take custom orders. I like 14mm eyes in my dolls, even in Minerva's giant eyehole. XD

 

Thanks for the advice, guys I'm not sure if I will try to purchase Kevin or not... I don't really understand why a "basic offline fullset" in NS costs $100 more than the current special sets??? Correct me if I'm wrong- those cost $410, right (I'm getting confused by the new menu on Blue Fairy, so perhaps I'm misunderstanding the price)? I also have no idea what the "offline default outfit" looks like O__O

The offline basic outfit is something similar to the rainy day theme park outfit actually, it's beige (rather than blue), there will be photos somewhere on Flickr I'd imagine, if I see one I'll post the link. Also, I'm guessing the price difference is because it's a limited sculpt, that's all I can think of.

Anyway, a picture of my Kyle whom I just gave a quick face-up (name's Valentine, he's a high school student freshly turned into a vampire hense the strange lip color).
I don't have any clothes for him yet, but the default outfit is very cute anyway, I always wanted to have a boy doll in a sailor suit XD
I need to get him some light blue eyes, also not sure if the make-up or the mold is a keeper.

this is the offline outfit on my Olive V. (far right) she is just not wearing the neck tie but everything else was included even the wig and shoes for the FB quoted price

and yes it looks like regular BF is $410 and the offline Kevin is $510 I'm guessing the price difference is because of the offline outfit and Kevin isn't a regular release face mold

NeonLanterns Yeah not many people have a Kevin here, I guess, Only I and Xaya ?? He's a Cafe Bluefairy Limited which released along with a TF Kate. I haven't seen a lot of Kate owner photo too. I also has the same problem with curly wig lol. I try to brush them with a toothbrush from bottom to top and it did look a bit better!
bronzephoenix I'm giving up on a NS Kevin already. I think I'm gonna keep my WS. You should buy him! He's definitely a cute sculpt. About the offline outfit, it look like the TF ever yours outfit but in white color. Here is a photo of the outfit. I'm not sure if they change of a skirt/pants color to brown but on pupa*casa they used to be black.
**edit** I look closely to midolls*melissa photo I think the shirt is different, I think they have changed it. I will ask MW for a photo of the offline outfit, I'm curious about it too.

Hello everyone! I've got a skin colour comparison photo! Here is NS Daydream 2015 resin with BF NS 2012 resin. That's the best I can do!
I also have a Juliet/May sculpt comparison which doubles as a NS/WS comparison too, but as we're only allowed one photo at a time, I'll start with this.
The resin is almost exactly the same in this case. Maybe BF has yellowed a touch more than this brand new DD resin but it's so close.

Of course I can, but it will have to be a beauty white head as the only NS head I have is this one and I have super issues about photographing it. It has no face up, it was my first doll and got damaged, ever since it is hidden away
The body is girl body, so will be interesting for testing proportions.
I'll get a photo in the next few days.

It may be a touch lighter, but very close. Daydream have recently changed their white skin, old beauty white is now named 'snow white' again, and there is a new beauty white that looks less pale, it is more like BF beauty white. There is a comparison photo in the DD thread but I don't know anyone who has new beauty white skin yet. Maybe Bliss had it, I'm not sure.

Here is a sculpt comparison of May and Juliet, also a skin colour comparison. BF WS 2013 and DD NS 2015
The sculpts themselves look great together and are far more similar than expected, but their face up/colour schemes just done go well in my opinion.
Also, I think May looks younger than Juliet, at least in person.

I know now there is a lot of confusion about the offline basic outfit...the offline basic outfit is not like everyours offline outfit or basic online outfit it is new they started using it last fall I believe...it consists of white sailor shirt with cream cardigan tan skirt or shorts, white socks with white Mary janes or white loafers, hat and neck tie

they only use it during doll shows so far...so I think the recent FB minoru world sales where left overs from the last doll show or maybe i.doll

I'm glad I wasn't far off, I just vaguely remembered it being similar. I don't think it's anywhere near as pretty though. I have Rainy day theme park in blue and the quality is amazing! I love the Pages' work, the dress that came with my DD order was fantastic.

 

I really have to thank you guys for finding this stuff 33 I am kind of disappointed in the outfit, it looks like the Rainy Day one, but just not as detailed/cute. Also I personally think the shorts look a little silly on a dandy/gentle body XD

I think I am adopting a classic Louis second hand, and then spending the price difference on a little wardrobe for him 3
