BlueFairy Shiny Fairy/(MW) Junior body discussion part 1

I managed to get a May off the marketplace. I paid a bit more then she is worth new but in the end it end up costing less then it would have if I had ordered her from bluefairy directly.Their shipping seems real expensive... then again it has been a while since I ordered directly from a company that charge shipping. I used to order from fairyland and get the free shipping at 700 with friends so 50$ for a doll it has been a while.
I regret nothing =) She is shipped from Thailand so I expect her to take 3-4 weeks to get here.

 

Ooooh! Happy almost-birthday Poem! I know I don't ever post here, but I'm a huge Poem fan. XD Yours was the first SF May I ever saw, Turbow, and she inspired me to want Tryphosa, my own SF (NS) May.

It really is a shame that they've changed May.... she was so popular as-was, too, so I wonder what motivated them to change her? I remember the artist saying something about how Diana turned out to look May-ish, and, to me, it seemed that he/she was a bit dissatisfied at that... so maybe he/she decided to change a few of the sculpts so they looked more different from one another? In any case, I really love my little Tryphosa.... it's a shame that newcomers to Bluefairy or ones who've had their eye on old May can't get her anymore. I wish they'd offer both versions so that people didn't have to scour the earth for old May! XD

Yeah, I'm pretty bummed they changed May. I'd been thinking of ordering her for a while now but never did and now they changed her! So sad! I guess this is what I get for waiting.

 

I wonder, if they get a massive list of name, wishing for old may to come back, if they would put her back for sale...

 

I think the new May is different enough that she could be her own sculpt. Maybe they should just call her Diana, lol, and keep the old May as May.

 

Sorry to double post, but I just thought of something. Shiny Fairy May and Hana were the most popular Blue Fairy items at Sarah's shop, if I remember correctly. Why on earth would BF alter such a popular product? I am pretty sad about it... No original May for me, I guess, and the new one just is not appealing to me.

 

I guess we will just wait and see what they will do. If the Japanese market is against it they will revert back or make it a new mold. Who knows...

by the way: thank you very much turbow for making me discover Foxy Browny. She make such lovely dress! I sent in an order =D

It would be great if new SF May was to become SF Diana and old SF May was to come back. I think I would order both ^^, they are very different. I'm sad I've missed old May .

 

xaya : I heard them said "Very soon". But don't know how soon is their "Very soon." I used to asked them about standard release of Robin and they said "Very soon" too and Choice & Special Robin released the next few days! LOL

I have received my little May today but I have no proper wig for her yet but she is currently wearing the white fur wig she came with. It does suit her but it's not what I had in mind =D

She stole my mnf eye which are a turquoise color. Suit her like a dream~

All the little, cute Shiny Fairies are so cute! I've been lurking this thread for a while and have fallen in love with them. Sadly I don't own any dolls yet but I plan to make SF Benjamin my first (one day)!

On another note: The photos of Poem will never cease to amaze me, shes just so pretty and the photos are stunning!

I've got a quick question...Where do you recommend buying clothes for these dolls? I've been browsing and daydreaming of the day when I can get a Benjamin, but I've never been sure where to get clothes that will fit.

 

I've found that Cheerydoll and Nine9style YoSd size clothes fit well... generally if you look at the measurements for most YoSd sized clothes they tend to be ok though.

 

They fit in most Yo-SD size clothes that use standard Yo-SD measurement.
But SFs are a bit taller than other Yo-SD (but not taller than Lati Green), so some tights might be a bit too short for them.

She's only slightly taller than other Yo sized kids, I haven't had any problems with items fitting, luckily. She's pretty easy to find clothing for. TTYA is a good source for "boy" clothing.

 

Clochette - if you didn't already, this would be a great picture for the size comparison sticky. So she's bigger than a littlefee, for sure, but is she also fatter than a littlefee? Maybe she's petite ai sized then? I've found that Fred (petite ai) is bigger than Yo - bigger enough that if an outfit is very fitted to a Yo, it won't fit fred.

 

I didn't find her to be fatter...let's see if I can get a nekkid pic of a few of them when I get back from Denver. She's nowhere near PetiteAI size.

Another question...It seems that LUTS also carries Bluefairys. Even though the wig pictures are slightly different (or a lot different if you're comparing Benjamin's picture on the LUTS site and on the Bluefairy site), I've noticed that LUTS didn't say that you'd get Benjamin's boots if you ordered him from them. I find this odd as they give you EVERYTHING else, but no boots?

 

Gr8pes the pictures in Luts are the old pictures from the preorder period, that's why it's different from the current one in Bluefairy. the wig looks different because of how they arrange them with a hat on. it's the same shaggy cut wig I believe ^^ in Bluefairy, usually boots are not considered as "outfit" set. shoes are usually mentioned separately. I think the text is probably just missing. if it's a special set, you should get the full uniform with boots. hope that helps

 

Gr8pes, if I were you, I'd definitely order from Blue Fairy directly!! Shipping is super fast (you get your doll within 1-2 weeks of payment), and what is included is more detailed on the BF website. Why wait 35-45 business days from Luts, when you can wait 5-14 business days from Blue Fairy?

etoileprince: Oh~ So that's why, I didn't know just buy changing how the hat is put on that the hair would look so much shorter. To bad boots are considered part of the outfit.

Peppermintsheep: You bring up a good point there, I didn't know Blue Fairy shipped them so much faster. I guess its because you're not waiting for them to ship to LUTS before they ship to you?

Ooooh, he's cute, but I want to see girl Sam They also released Connie, renewal May and Hana... I liked the old ones better, but they are still cute and I might get a May someday. I bet they will release limiteds with the renewal Hana and May, and also Connie and Sam! That would be cute!

 

hanapui, I just took a look at them, seems like Connie has also been updated finally! Mini-Olive and Mini-Louis are both so very cute! ^^ I think I can live with the new May and Hana too... but I'm sure if I could, I'd snatch an old one but I could go with new May.

 

I just stumbled upon the new Shinies as well! The more I look at the revamped May, the more I think she's cute in her own way--I miss the old May, but this one is pretty cute too! I love Hana to bits, though Sam and Connie's mouths look a bit off to me--they're totally adorable otherwise though, I'd love to snatch a Connie for myself.

 

I'm still not so sure about new Shiny May over the old one (I'm still not sure what BF saw the need to do that) ...it doesn't help that the pics with that little bob wig make the new head sculpt look even rounder. There is still definitely a cuteness there though!
I'm wondering how long it will take before we see choice options available for the new shiny sculpts....and still hoping one day there'll be some sleeping shinys in the future.

 

Oh my... I definitely want to bring Sam home, but I'll have to wait for a while. He's so adorable, though!

Well, when looking at TF May & Original SF May next to each other...looking at mine right now... there is definitely a bit more of an angle to the original SF May's Chin / cheek bone line in comparison to TF May. I wonder if BF had sought to amend in the newer SF face sculpt as if you look at the SFs as younger versions of the TFs then if anything you'd expect a slightly rounder look to the SF face sculpt in comparison to their TF siblings ... not more angular.
If this is the case then I'm hoping that it will mean that TF May will be left alone.

 

Yes, I also find the new SF may looks so alike to BF May but not TF May. To be honest, I like TF May more and that is why I miss the old may O_Q

I too miss the old May, she was so cute. New May is great and I love new Hana but May just looks like Connie with a slightly rounder face. /:

 

I also agree that Sam's mouth seems huge! I would like to see him with makeup that does not emphasize his mouth so much XD

It does look like his lips are big even without the faceup, but the lip line most definitely does not help.

I fount out about Shiny Fairies recently, and they are really lovely I'm thinking of getting a May to grow up my pukifee Flora, but i'd like a few comparison pics before to make my mind.
Especially, a shiny fairy next to a minoruworld junior, and a shiny fairy next to a slim MSD like minifee or tiny fairy.

I have to agree, new Shiny May looks clearly more like Blue Fairy May instead of Tiny Fairy. I'm sure they won't make any renewal for the TF, she was one of their very first dolls wasn't she? They've made renewal's of Xiao a lot, but I think May is still the One Mold not to be touched.

Sam's mouth. It is big for the head, since they seem to like to make the mouths so small for Shiny Fairies, it is surprising they didn't make his mouth this small. I like the big mouth tough.

I'm strongly hoping to get a SF in a few weeks (thanks christmas and birtday presents), and since i'm already looking for wigs ans eyes, I have a question : Bluefairy says SF wear 14mm eyes, but the compagny pics show them with really big eyes, so i'm wondering how would look 12mm instead ? Also, do you know any compagny/seller having colored wigs that fit well ?

I wanted to ask the same question! I think I've read in this thread someone used 16mm eyes for their girl, so I was wondering if anyone has a comparison shot of Shiny Fairy wearing 14mm and 16mm eyes? Not sure about 12mm eyes, they're Unoa size and really small... I guess with 16mm eyes there would be hardly any white visible (more of a child-like look), and with 12mm eyes, there would be a lot more white (a maturer look).

About the eyesize, Connie is wearing 16mm Glib Glass eyes and as you can see, there's no much white showing around the iris, my Benjamin has 14mm Everpurple urethane eyes and Hana has 14mm Hand Glass Crafts. I think both sizes work OK, but 12 could be really too small, I have tried some Kanis Augen 12mm eyes for Connie, only becouse they were close to the colour I wanted, but the white part of 12mm eyes didn't fill the eye socket and you can see in the head from the sides. I didn't take photos of it. Maybe with some other brand or oval eyes in 12mm, it could work. :/ Iris size vary some with size and brand.

 

Thank you for all the helpful info, xaya! \o/ I was wondering if your Connie wore 16mm eyes, she has that wonderful big-eyed look I love on Yo-SD-sized dolls. Glad to hear both 14mm and 16mm are suitable (I'll be getting EDs for mine as I only have 12mm and 18mm eyes right now). ^^ As for 12mm being on the small size for Shiny Fairy, how about going with 13mm instead? There are some Japanese eyemakers who do uneven sizes and I remember Masterpiece, too, did them years ago, at least. 15mm would work as well!
