Hi again, I understood from reading up on the sculpt that you can use both 12mm and 14mm eyes on May, but what is the preferred choice for most of you? I *think* I used 12mm for my Minoru back in the day, but I honestly can't remember *hides face*. It sometimes looks like May's eyes are sculpted a little bigger - but I might be wrong on that?
@Katrine I have 14mm glass eyes on my May, I think they fit her really well. Here is old photo of my Hana and May, both have 14mm eyes. Shiny evening by Kaisu, on Flickr P.S. I love the baked skin Shinies, I wish I had the finances when they were for sale, I knew I'd regret not getting any...
Thank you @xaya ! Your girls are adorable It looks like 14mm is a good fit for them both - thanks for posting the picture. I was actually hoping I could use the 12mm I have for my latis, but do you think that would be too small, perhaps? The 14mm looks really sweet on her... Maybe I just have to give in when I finally are able to buy a May and get some nice eyes in 14mm
@Katrine I think the white parts might be too small in 12mm eyes and there could be a gap on the sides depending on the shape and type of the eye. Here is quick reference photo, sorry about the quality. Reference of eyes for Shinyfairy May. Light beige eye is 12mm Hand Glass Craft and hazel brown is mouthblown 12mm from Glassaugen. #Bluefairy #Shinyfairy #May by Kaisu, on Flickr Shiny May with light beige eye 12mm Hand Glass Craft and hazel brown eye mouthblown 12mm eye from Kanis Glassaugen (if I can remember the company correctly, it's been long time since I received these eyes). The mouthblown glass eyes have bigger iris than the other one but both gap from the sides. It could be that if you don't mind that much of the gapping 12mm of certain types could work. I don't like the light beige on her in this size but that's just the type of the eye where the iris is quite small compared to the one that is bigger. And I do like bigger irises too. @Ellesmera Thank you so much. ^^
I'm sorry to add the consensus that 12mms are a "very likely not" for May. I have tried low dome, full round glass 12mm eyes in my ShinyFairy/Minoruworld heads and didn't like the look. There were gaps at the corners of the eye sockets and the smaller iris size did not flatter their cute faces well.
My Baked Minoru has arrived! I spent some time assembling her and picking out a wig and temporary eyes -- Baked Minoru Jr Bluefairy by christina, on Flickr
Thank you! It was actually more fun to assemble her than I thought. I think I'm going to make her a 1970s disco teen with ABBA records and platform shoes
Thanks! I'll have to research 70's makeup for her faceup -- I was way too young to wear makeup back then myself!
Everyone's shinyfairys are so cute! I love all of them. I posted asking about shoes a while back but never got around to posting a photo, here's one to fix that! My Jaden on the Junior body Her name is Violet!
WELP, it's not even the 5th of September yet here, but I've ordered my SF May!! This is my third Bluefairy doll and my second from them directly, but my first tiny-sized doll. I'm beyond excited!! AHH!! I'm gonna sew her so many things while waiting....
I never got around to posting my girl Ani...she's a Junior Leila. I finally got her permanent wig and eyes last Monday!! I've never had this size before, but I absolutely love her!
@La Sultana She is adorable! @MaudMAryFlynn She is so cute, I love her wig and eyes It's been a while since I visited here. Some random May spam Two little May's by Karen, on Flickr
My beautiful Astrid arrived today!! It took a hassle in the post office to get her... also, she was sent in a doll carrier, not a doll box? I thought that was just for the one month, but maybe that's their new mode of transport. I kinda miss the box, but having a free carrier is nice. It's very cute! I did her faceup as soon as I got her, and I'm excited that for once it actually turned out kinda decent the first try... also, I had difficulty trying to figure out which wig worked with her (the bang sauvage in khaki brown i ordered for her was very nice but not fitting for the character), when I threw this crazy curl explosion of a wig on her and fell in love - whoops! It's almost as big as she is in person...
Bluefairy has renewed the Shiny Fairy and Junior bodies. Pictures can be found here: Bluefairy International-I'll alway be here for you They also have a pre-order going for all shiny sculpts now Personally I really loved both old bodies, so I'm not too happy about the update. But maybe if I see and hold one in person it could change my mind?
It looks like upgrading all of their bodies is the way they've decided to go. Personally I'm glad the new Shiny Fairy and Junior bodies look much better than the Tiny Fairy neo body
Ugh, I hate hate hate the change and hate that there was no warning at all, just like last time, despite the complaints about their communication issues before. I mailed them to request a classic body before they switch completely and am crossing my fingers. I've wanted an SF since I bought my first BlueFairy doll, Dalia, but wanted to get the other dolls off my list first, so I waited all this time. And THEN was waiting for SP Leila had to be available again, since for whatever reason of course the one head I want must be limited. I asked about both things, so... guuuhhh if I can just get this one SF, that's all I wanted, just one little cutie to be the 'baby' of my doll family. PLEASE BLUEFAIRY. JUST WARN US FIRST, GIVE THOSE OF US WHO CARE A SMALL CHANCE. I want to be done collecting my doll family so badly already! I just want to be done, so I never have to worry about limiteds or special editions or discontinuations or what-have-yous! >_< </3 ali
:\ Not too jazzed about the change, either, but it did look inevitable since all the other sizes were "renewed". My biggest peeve with Blue Fairy is that they don't offer an unassembled option-- Minoru World used to, I think, where the price was like $20 lower, and you strung the doll yourself. I'd love to save money on both the assembly fee AND the shipping-- instead of sending me the fully assembled doll in the fancy carrier bag (which I really don't need, but have no way of NOT getting), they could send a smaller box for a smaller shipping fee. Sigh. Also, the switch to the carrier bag is not something I care for at all, lol. But that's enough complaints! It's the last day of the Shiny/Junior free-for-all preorder period!!
I think it annoys me extra-more because I specifically asked them more than once if they planned to renew the SF bodies too later, after the TF renewal, so I could make plans accordingly. They told me they had no plans to do so so far, and since I and others had also complained about the TF change without any warning, I felt safe that SF renewal at least wouldn't happen before I could get my planned kid. I actually like the carriage bag much more than the old cardboard boxes; I've used mine to transport my dolls safely on trips a few times =) . I like that it's so lightweight and easy to sling on my shoulder and carry. It would be best to have an option though! I ordered my first doll, Jasmine, unassembled exactly to save that $20 heheh. I asked them about my options, and they told me that they have these dolls in-stock: Hana - Jr. body body Hana - SF boy body First School Sam - boy body First Schoo Sam - girl body Clare - Jr. boy bodyl Andy - SF Girl body Connie - SF Boy body Sleeping Leila - Jr. boy body Unfortunately, they won't mix-and-match the heads and bodies due to color-matching incompatibility. Because of that, I've requested the Hana SF boy, since I already have two Junior dolls. If anybody's interested in a classic SF/JR doll listed here (aside from the Hana SF), you should go ahead and email them! I wish it was SP Leila, because I've always wanted one SP doll in my collection... but Hana would have been my second choice, so I'm glad they at least have that. I'll breathe a sigh of relief once I finally have every single doll on my wishlist. Sooo close now! ali
I missed the order period by 3 minutes, waah! I went back to nab a few silicone headcaps for my Pocket Fairies (their wigs are so slippery!!), and in that time, it passed 5pm in Korea and I missed out. :'( As for the carriage bags, my dolls don't go anywhere, so it's not helpful for me in any capacity, haha. I'd definitely prefer some options on assembly/shipping/doll protection vessels. My dolls just sort of... sleep... in their big rectangle boxes on a high shelf unless I'm doing something with them (and depending on the box and the size of the doll, I can get 2 or 3 in one box!). So the stackability was helpful (until they switched to the carrier boxes with fold-out tops). So for me, the carrier bags are not great for storing the dolls, and I can't recycle or repurpose the bag. For people with smaller collections, or people who bring their dolls to meetups, it's a lot easier than hauling around a huge box, for sure!! Sorry about Leila!! She's a cutie!! Good luck with your wishlist-- and props for being close to complete!! My wishlist is kind of ... the entire inventory of the website.... ^^;;
I got my Shinyfairy in unassembled format this summer! They do offer that option if you email them. I think it is a repeated absentminded omission from their ordering pages. Sometimes when they don't offer extra hands with the ordering period it is by accident too, so just request what you want and you might get a pleasant surprise! ^^ They didn't send a carrying bag with my unassembled doll, which is okay.. but that wasn't an independent option, or I would have requested one. The $20 charge covers both the assembly service and the carrying bag. You can get that charge removed from your order, but only if both options get eliminated. In unassembled form, the parts ship in plastic envelopes (as doll clothing often does) inside a little cardboard box. Only the head gets a nice box. One S-hook was missing, but otherwise assembly went smoothly with the included items, a crochet hook, and a length of scrap wire (my preferred stringing method.) I don't recall the unassembled option making a difference to the shipping cost, but I'll double check that for you later tonight. I'll look for photos of my Shinyfairy's arrival and assembly. I never posted up a thread, but if I can find my photos I guess I should~
Thanks for the info, Lokinta! Also, I never thought to use a crochet hook for stringing. What a big "DUH!!" moment, haha.
@billy001 Yes, it's permanent, and the old ones will not be available anymore, as with all their lines @almyki I completely understand your frustration, I really thought I must have missed an anouncement... With the pocket Fairies they at leats gave you a chance to buy the old body with an event. I am very happy I have three Shinies/Junior on the old body, and... there's a fourth one incoming! Guess which sculpt
@Peppermintsheep Guilty What gave it away? Indeed, a fourth May is on it's way, well she will be at the end of this month. It's a second version May this time, so I'll have all three versions! Yara visited the Provence with me Beaumes-de-Venise by Karen, on Flickr
I finally got around to uploading photos of my unassembled Leila's arrival! Here she is at the end of the process: ShinyFairyLeila by Lokînta, on Flickr I won't post them directly here since the assembly photos contain dolly nudity and dismembered body parts (nothing gory, just a missing or unassembled limb here and there ) But the arrival and assembly photos can be viewed at your discretion in the following album: Leila's Album
I'm so excited about the body renewal! I've always been quite fond of Bluefairy, but I find my junior body so unfulfilling among my minifees and unoas (all double jointed) I hope I can get my hands on the new body so that my Violet will fit in better with the rest of my crew
@Lokinta Your baked Leila is so adorable! I haven't seen many baked shinies so far. @MaudMAryFlynn I'm happy you are happy with the renewal ^^ My second version May arrived a couple of weeks ago, I completely forgot to post her here. Her name is Yinne and she is so adorable She is very different from my other May's. I have made comparison pictures if anyone is interested. She went to the sunny forest with me Yinne by Karen, on Flickr edit: Did anyone order a shiny in the event this week? ^^
Yes I didI ordered the shiny fairy May on the new jr body. I'll be sure to post lots of pix and a body review
@Sodabeentjes Ahh, Yinne is so super cute! Her little face really is very different from the others~ She looks especially young in that photo.. the hair and shawl seem to suit her very well! And thank you for your kind compliment! You are completely right, there do not seem to be enough baked Shinies. Mine is really special to me. I would love to get another Baked ShinyFairy on the new body type, then switch the heads so I can have her on the new body.. *fingers crossed they offer that soon before her resin color starts to age* Here's my lil Baked Leila "Lucky" wearing shiny things in overly bright lighting~! Her orange-green-purple color scheme in this photo kinda works for her sweet but off-beat personality. The flyaways too.. Guess that's what happens when you borrow a tomboy's wig.. Lucky in Lightning! by Lokînta, on Flickr
Hello, popping in with a question I'm hoping someone in here can help with! For the shinyfairy junior default uniforms- are the shirt and skirt the same ones/size as the normal shinyfairy or are they bigger/longer like the sweater for the set?
Is there a difference in the facial features between boy and girl dolls of the same sculpt? I'm comparing the default Benjamin, of which there is no girl photo, to the girl Bon Voyage Benjamin and I could swear the mouth shape is different and not just the face-up! Am I seeing things?
It's the same sculpt, just slightly different makeup! The only really confusing sculpts are May and Hana, as some of the promo photos show the first versions of those two sculpts still, but the first versions aren't offered anymore.
@Seraph_Keeper On the Minoruworld site you can see both boy and girl face-ups Detail Information @MaudMAryFlynn I don't know whether you still need to know, but the skirt defenitely is longer on Junior. I believe the shirt as well, but less of a difference, I could check for you. So I have bought an old Junior girl body, and hoping to order an Andy head in the next pre-order she is available Some May spam just because 3 little May's by Karen, on Flickr
I need to get the updated Junior Blossom body when I can, didn't have the money this order period. Much prefer the double joints.
Hi. Let me ask about the theme special "Alice May's Shadow", shop photoes below. 1. Has anyone bought this girl? I really want to see her photoes Dx 2. It had released at 2014 and I guess she is May 3rd sculpt, is it correct? Any replies are appriciated. Thank you in advance :>
Hi, I didn't end up ordering one, but Bluefairy sent me this picture when I asked about her: And yes, she's a May 3rd sculpt
Just realized that I had missed a 1st SF May with reasonable price at an auction few days ago... and now feel so miserable these days I'm falling in love with Jr blossom body too... here is my hybrid girl with other company's 1/3 size head pic. I'M SORRY! The photo size was too big... I deleted it, sorry.
Hi all, I finally got her... Alice May Shadow, from the shop directly. Now she needs to be assembled. lol She is my first Blue Fairy doll!
Thank you. Yeah, the body is kind of easy to assemble. +I was surprised when I saw the inside of the head lol. just said "wow"
Anyway I was able to change the eyes... still saying "wow". Now I have two junior bodies, with barely different resin color. Left one is a bit more yellowish, but both are (known as) beauty white skin, and unknown for the production date... I really love the sculpt of the body! *NUDITY* http://blogfiles3.naver.net/MjAxNzE...BY60QhAg.JPEG.bf_showroom/20171022_192216.jpg
She looks incredible! I especially love her with that long black hair in the second pic. Just beautiful - I'd love to see more.
@nemurenu Congrats! She is really beautiful lol, yeah... that putty they use... I always request to leave the eyes out of the head. Or you spend half an hour getting it out with the yucky stuff smeared everywhere.. So I ordered an Andy head in the last pre-order for the junior body I got a while back So excited! Guessing I won't have it before January.
Thank you all! I've bought a carema which I had used years ago (it was suddenly broken, so I had to bought a "new" one ;- and with the new May my first Bluefairy doll, I'm sooo excited these days!
