@Sodabeentjes Wow what a May fan here! Wouldn't you be in trouble if they released a tan May too? XD Seeing those names reminds me of the name of a past coworker of mine, 'Yesenia'. As for Linus, I believe he was originally of the MW Junior line before they merged them, and I know their heads run overall a bit smaller than the SF-original heads. If you're concerned about how he'd look next to your Mays, keep it in mind. Aaaggghhh, in the end, I'm going to just stick with my original plans and keep my Junior May after all. After weeks of agonizing, hahahaha! And I'll get the tan SF I want, but now I'm not sure between Hana or SP Leila. I've seen Hanas that I really love, but Hana's eyes are the tricky part. Without just the right placement, size, and HQ eye design, Hana looks too surprised or wide-eyed for me. Well, I'll probably go with whichever one ends up available to me in tan first. Hana is coming up in January, so if CS okays my request for a tan Hana, then Hana it is! I haven't taken any good photos of my dolls in a while, but here's an old group photo with my Junior May up in front. It needs some solo pics one day. Collection Shot by Mira Kim, on Flickr
@almyki Awww what a cute family! I'm glad you decided not to part with your Junior May, she is so adorable Good luck on deciding between Hana and Leila. I have had Leila, she was just adorable! I love the name Yesenia too, I'm putting it on the list ^^ I'm not sure if a tan May would mean trouble for me. Bluefairy's baked skin hasn't appealed to me yet, but well if they suddenly release one in my favorite sculpt, it just might I'm thinking Linus will have larger features then my May's (the nose especially) My may's went really well with Leila. Their features were the same size. However I compared them with Shirley a while back, she seams to have a similar nose to Linus, and she had way bigger features, I didn't like how they looked together at all. But because she will go on the Junior, I might be okay with that. I would just like to see some differently styled Linusses. But I think I'll pass on her for now. My wishlist is too long xD Comparison May v1,3 & Leila by Karen, on Flickr
Bluefairy has the January and February sale lists up now. I'm ok for January, but I really didn't need to fall for another size of their dolls -- February is going to be rough.... So, now I have two. A Ted boy and a Jaden girl, both on Junior bodies. Now, I've seen the Shiny Fairy bodies, and people do them up very youngish, almost toddler style. The oversized hands don't appeal to me. But the Junior bodies, now -- Like people talk about "mature minis", I can't help seeing the Juniors just as miniature versions of the Tiny Fairy's. Clothing's going to be hard to find for the girl especially. I hear Narsha clothing works. The dress she's wearing is an old Wickedstitchery Yo-sd-size dress. It's shorter, but fits. None of my smaller doll pants do, though. Luckily, the boy came with a couple of items to wear!
If you want clothes and shoes that fit Junior bodies, Nine9Style's Bunny9 line is a god-send! The shoes fit my Junior May PERFECTLY, and the clothes are almost all perfect/great fit on it. It's on the Junior Boy body, and I've gotten mostly girl clothes for it so far, but I'm sure the boy clothes would fit as well. If you want any reference pics, I can take some later too. -sigh- So disappointed that they aren't doing anything Baked-Skin-related for a while. I was so stoked to get a BS Hana in January and finishing my collection! I'll just have to wait until they bring it back XP . Stirling, you'll just have to do for now!! ali
Cool. Thanks for the point! I keep getting the feeling dresses aren't her style - or aren't dramatic enough. Dunno! Oh, you know when they finally decide to do baked again, they're going to get hit! I wonder if they would end up doing an "all baked" month. But they said they had problems? It was such a pretty color though --
I love my jr jaden girl she is amazing. I buy her clothes from Kawkana Style from etsy also fot iplehouse kid
Bluefairy is hosting a baked skin event soon : Bluefairy International-I'll alway be here for you Maybe some Shiny Faires too? Yara is back on her old Junior body again... I'm not sure yet on which one she will stay. The little Shiny Fairy body is absolutely adorable, but on this body her character comes more to life for me. Dolly dilemma's! For now she will remain a head with 2 bodies... But I think she will end up on this body, and I will want a Connie head for the little body somewhere in the future... Yara... by Karen, on Flickr
I checked with them. The baked sale is only for the regular-order Tinyfairy sculpts. (Which is bad enough. I don't need another Kyle!) I hope the "lowered quality" really isn't anything that much - I've had seams on my other BF dolls and never did a thing about them. If this sale is successful, I'm sure some Shinies/Juniors will turn up eventually in their own sale!
Thanks for asking, hobbywhelmed! I also sent an email asking if they knew of any plans for a future SF BS release, haha, so I'll let you guys know if there's any news on that. I am so ready for this hahahaha! ali EDIT: An update on the issue, and it sounds like there's no specific plans yet for an SF Baked Skin event D= . Such a bummer =_= . I'm tempted to go to the Daegu showcase in person to ask if they know anything more there, though it's doubtful -sigh- . SF line gets no love T_T .
Hello everyone, new to the thread here. I was wondering if any of you could enlightme as to how the ordering works for bluefairy tinies at this point? I read something that dolls are only available for a period of time, every month different dolls. I've been out of the loop for too long it seems haha Any idea when we could see SF may available for purchase? (they only sell the 3rd version right? no way of getting the 1st?)
Hm, it has been awhile without a response to @Ellesmera ..I was going to let someone else speak up because I'm not so sure, but I'll make my best effort! What I understand is that they will only release certain sculpts (or certain size ranges, in Baked /White skin order periods) at one time. May seems pretty popular, so I they keep her in frequent circulation. She was available in early August, then mid-November, so I would anticipate seeing May again soon. There is a May on the preorder lineup for April, but whether it will be TinyFairy or ShinyFairy size is not specified. Do expect SF Mays to be 3rd version, I'd guess. When a sculpt is updated or retired it usually can only be obtained in the secondhand markets. Just for fun, my Hana wishes to say hi to the thread..
@Lokinta thank you so much for your answer!! I was already giving up on getting an answer, you are very kind and it was super helpful. I'll be stalking Bluefairy each month then~ I don't mind having a May 3rd version, she is super cute. Hana is super pretty!!! Love her eyes, so unique!
Thanks! I just hope the info is good.. haha. I just felt bad to see a question left hanging so long. The eyes were inexpensive, being acrylics, but acrylics seem highly disfavored for the more deep and shiny eyes out there. I see the appeal of those too, but like his doll having a unique and cartoony look! My plan is to refaceup her in a more anime style eventually. Bluefairies wear anime styling so well Here's Hana last summer wearing green acrylic eyes (which were also from Licht,) another favorite look on her. She's my doll who seems to look good in every style!
For acrylics eyes they are amazing and since Bluefairy dolls have big eyes you can see all the details in them, I love them!!! Love the second photo, the clothes and the background fits her so well and She even has green eyes that look lovely! A more anime face up for her would be super fun! I agree that bluefairy dolls can be very cartoony! I don't have any definite plans for my future may, only that I will be doing the face up myself, but I'll go with something more natural I think, so She can be with my other dolls. Or maybe not, who knows haha
@Ellesmera Oooh, I saw your question and completely forgot to answer you! Lokinta explained it pretty well already, but I want to add, that I bedlieve the next May in april is a Tiny Fairy, as they always do 3 TF and 3 SF. Patrick, Robin, May are then TF and Ellie, Jaden, Linus are Shinies. I don't know when she's up next. They roulate through all scultps (not limited ones!). Each first week of the month they have 3 for sale, and when they went through all, they start over again. May is the first of the line. I thought her last pre-order period was december. And the first was August, so there's 4 months between that. That probably means she's up in may (as she's not in april it seems). It is the third version. They stopped selling 1st version when they went to the second one. There were a few for sale through Catherine Parks and Minoruworld a while ago, but I'm afraid they're all gone now. You can always mail Minoruworld about her. May 3 is beautiful though! I have two third version May's, and one 1st version. The third is my favourite! Oh, and the ordering periods are for normal and beauty white skin. Baked Shinies probably won't happen anytime soon. Here's my Beauty white third version May, isn't she beautiful Yesenia by Karen, on Flickr @Lokinta Awww your Hana is precious!
@Sodabeentjes thanks!!! It's okay if she's not up for sale next month, I can wait ! And I probably will be getting normal skin because white it's kinda intimidating for me. White bluefairy dolls look super special though, probably because it was not so long ago that there were very limited editions. Thanks for being so helpfull too! And you already helped me before, I already stalked your flickr not so long ago! It made me realize that the 3rd version of May is just as gorgeous as the first and I love all your girls, especially Yesenia, what a pretty name!
Thanks very much! Your Yesenia (and Yara and Yaëlle who I see around a lot) are always a joy to see They are definitely the specimens who made me able to recognize May's sculpts at a glance. Good point, the next May is probably TF then, we'll keep waiting for new ShinyFairies! Ooh, I just got some new items for Hana (to dress her more as she is supposed to look) in the mail today, But I forgot her at my boyfriend's house and might not see him for another day or two. Bah!
Hey all!! I just saw that BF posted a fixed time for each sculpt to be on sale. SF May will be up for sale on May so I'm excited!
@Ellesmera That's great! May is available on May, I like that! Loving all the Shiny around here, mine has gotten too little attention. ^^; I should photograph them more, they're so adorable. And they've waited for new clothes for ages. ^^;;; Here's craptastic photo from the girls, poor Nikolas didn't make it for the photos... I had taken all the shoes for a photoshoot so they were picking theirs, and I hadn't taken Nikolas' shoes off at all. That's why he wasn't in the photos.
Does anyone happen to have the neck measurement for the Jr body (girl body preferably)? I can't seem to find it anywhere!
@Lokinta @Ellesmera I'm glad I could be of help Haha I really like that May is available in may too! @xaya Your girls are so adorable and dressed so pretty! One day I plan to have a Connie as well ^^ @ChocoMeijin The neck size of Shiny Fairy is 6 cm. I'm guessing it's the same for the junior body, since the heads are interchangable. But I could measure mine if you want.
@xaya I love all your bluefairies, always a fan of yours (fantasywoods here ) @Sodabeentjes yes! I hope everything goes well and I can get her if not at least I know exactly how much I have to wait for the next selling period
Hi @ChocoMeijin, I just measured my MW Jr girl's neck. 6cm around exactly! (1.5cm from the top of neck to the shoulders, in case that dimension interests you too)
You're welcome! She was within an arm's reach, so it was no trouble. I was hanging out with my Shinies today (Junior included!) sewing a kimono dress for this one. She's a hybrid, it's not a BF body. ^^; Turning her into my main OC. There's still a long way to go - wig styling, outfit completion, a more anime type faceup eventually.. but I can start to see it! She's getting the majority of my attention recently. (Edit: image removed due to Photobucket rule changes. Will add new photo album link when it's ready!)
@Lokinta She is just adorable, I can see why she's getting a lot of attention She already looks very anime styled, I'm very curious for the new face-up ^^
Does anyone know how long it takes for a Shiny Fairy to ship if you order one without a faceup? Thanks!
@La Sultana With the current order system I've only ordered a Shiny Fairy with a face-up. That took almost 3 months. Without a face-up will be quicker. My 3 little May's on May 3 3 little May's on May 3 by Karen, on Flickr
@Sodabeentjes your Mays are so pretty!!! I'm hoping to make an order for my own May this week, but I still haven't got paid so I need to wait a bit
@Sodabeentjes Thanks for your reply! I'm trying to get either a May or a Leila but I was hoping to get her shipped to me before I go to Seoul in July. I also have my eye on a couple secondhand ones in the marketplace.
This will be happy announcement for many Shiny Fairy fans! A BAKED EVENT IS COMING! Bluefairy International-I'll alway be here for you
Baked event!! nice!! I ordered my normal skin May this weekend so I can't join the event (and I'm okay with that, I wanted a normal skin May), but I hope many people do! That skin color is lovely
I don't think they've ever done baked shiny fairies before. Only the tiny fairies. I don't think the cost for the TFs was that much more the last time they did it. No clue on what they'll charge for the the shiny fairies. But eeeeek tan Hana!
Tinyfairy baked preorder was about $270 before any extras. The regular sale (normal/white) is listed at about $380 before extras. That's a difference of about 27%! So if the ShinyFairies follow that rate, their price would be around $243 instead of the regular $333. *fan speculation only! I could be way off..!* I am not at all disappointed in the "imperfections" of the discounted baked resin product I just received from the TF order in February. The sanding is inconsistent in some areas.. For instance, my TF's right forearm seam is fairly heavily sanded, but the same seam on the left is not sanded at all. The back of the head shows a wide band of sanding also, as do the backs of the feet. The torso seams have ridges and rough edges which make me wonder why they sanded some of the seams but left others rather rough. I am planning to write up a full, more thorough review of what I got from the baked TF order, but in a nutshell, that's what to expect for the discounted price. It is not disappointing, just could require a touch of DIY if that sort of inconsistency eats at you. The color is really vibrant and all the pieces seem to match in color and texture. I'm excited to see a baked SF event! Ooh, but so soon after the TF event! I wonder if we'll be seeing tan Juniors?!
You mean that the event dolls will be cheaper then the regular ones? *___* It would be great, a tan SF Junior would be a dream!
Yup. They apologize profusely and give a discount in case you're not happy. I ordered 2 Tinyfairies in baked, and they are superb in quality. I gushed in their Q&A, and hoped enough other people did too, so they'd do more baked events. This one is so badly timed for me to participate, but I'm still looking at the various sculpts and pondering who'd be stunning in baked....
Oh I'm so excited about this release - I've wanted a Jr. Minoru forever but never expected to be able to get a Baked version! Just went to price things out and... holy shipping charges!! Ouch. I'm glad the doll itself is on sale, lol
My baked TF's - which I ordered assembled - came in mini-size soft carriers. I don't know how they send the unassembled orders. The SF's/Jrs. I'd ordered during a regular monthly sale came in the brown boxes, which were the same length actually as the TF boxes.
Does anyone know where to get Shiny Fairy Jr clothing?...it looks like slim pickings on the BlueFairy site and I just ordered my first baked doll from them...I appreciate any input.
Check out Nine9Style Bunny9 line, it should all or almost all fit Junior dolls. The shoes are a perfect fit too! Nine9 Style (clothes of ball jointed doll, BJD) Angell-Studio also has their own 'tall YoSD' doll size, so some of their clothes in their 1/6 section seems like they'd fit too. I bought the Mori Retro fullset, for example, and it all fit fine, though the leg-holes for the calves were a tight fit. A-S dolls' legs in general seem very skinny, so be careful of pants. I think their shoes are a no-go for them; just some of the clothes. Check the notes at the bottom of the clothing page along with the pictures to see if it looks Junior-compatible. Their 'tall YoSD' is the 'starry body' I believe. So for example: "1. Suitable: AS starry body; AS 1/6 normal body, Yo-sd size . Pls check the measurements for its ability to other brands. (PS: it would be a little bigger for 1/6 normal body, so we add two pins for you)" AS- 1/6 Baby Angell Studio En Good luck! Glad to see people ordering tan Juniors! I'm ordering a tan JR May girl myself and SO EXCITED. If Bunny and A-S weren't here to help supply her with clothes, the decision would have been a lot harder for me! ali
Thanks so much Ali for the info! I appreciate it! do you know if the Iplehouse KID clothing fit them as well?...I love the May sculpt...had a hard time deciding which one to choose so I finally decided on Clare and a Minoru for my daughter...can't wait for them.!
Yay, Tan Jrs! Can anyone tell me if Bluefairy accepts Paypal and if so, do I do a manual payment and notify through their Q&A? I'd prefer that since I could choose Paypal credit as I know BF doesn't offer layaway and this is a short release time frame for me.
You can definitely pay with Paypal. I think there is an automatic link at the bottom of the order page.
When you place an order, you get their paypal adress, and the order number. You will then have to go to paypal yourself, and put in the correct amount and info.
I'm excited to see everyone's Baked Shinies and Juniors! *o* I'm jumping in on this late. I have been second-guessing my choice of sculpt.. But now it has been settled - Leila will join my collection! Her character calls for a short body, so the standard girl body will be my choice, even though Leila's face looks a little more mature and suits the Junior body better in some ways.. I think it will work out nicely anyhow! Yes, the shipping is a bit of a painful price jump. EMS rates are increasing in June, and of course they have to charge according to when the completed dolls will be sent out, so unfortunately this is the first time a lot of us are seeing the new, higher rates.
What size shoes does everyone buy for their Junior bodied shinyfairy? Do they fit into MSD or Yo shoes? I just got my Jaden girl in yesterday! I'm very in love with her but I'm not crazy about the size of her eyes (not sure what size they are but her pupil fills up the entire eye) Does anyone have pics they could share of different sized eyes on shinyfairies? Thanks!
Their feet are too large for YoSD and too small for MSD; they're basically right in the middle between the two. The only shoes that I know fit them are BlueFairy's Jr size shoes themselves and Nine9Style's Bunny9-range shoes. The Bunny9 shoes luckily have a good variety and they fit absolutely PERFECTLY, so I highly recommend them. They are quite nice quality as well! As for eyes, if they seem too big, just try going down a size, that should probably do it. Each SF face sculpt is different and may have different eyewell sizes; May has some of the biggest, for example, being so wide-eyed. Even the heads themselves can be slightly different sizes from each other. Jaden I think is one of the slightly smaller-sized heads, being from the original JR line of sculpts from MinoruWorld. ali
Gosh it took me ages to find this thread! I keep coming back to Bluefairy dolls but I've yet to but the bucket and buy one (I have two pocket fairies). It's nice looking at everyone's photos.
Glad you found us, @smudge ! My Baked Shiny Faiy Leila just arrived in the mail yesterday, but I wasn't expecting her until early September! I'm assembling her this morning and can hardly wait to share photos. Her faceup is so pretty, and so far the body seems to be really nice despite Bluefairy's concerns about their new baked standards. Should have her all assembled soon
Hi all, Been ages since I was active in the doll community, and obviously a lot has changed since then I was looking forever for the MW Junior discussion thread, but now I understand that it is this one I have some questions though as I don't find any info on the Bluefairy site, I am terrible at searching ... Are they still selling the Junior body or only the smaller SF body? And, anyone know how the resin for the newer bodies matches the older MW Junior heads? And I'm thinking about heads from 2009/2010...
Hi, @Katrine ! It's so nice to see more new faces in the thread! ^o^ Welcome! The Junior body is still available in the same form as it originally was. It is still single-jointed, the same sculpts (boy, girl, and blossom/larger bust girl) and they are now sold in the original "Normal" resin color along with Bluefairy's Beauty White. You can order Baked (tan) color only during "Baked Preorder" periods. On the BluefairyInt website, click on ShinyFairy to go to their department, select a sculpt you would like to view, then choose the Junior body. You might have to use the email address at the bottom of the page to inquire about ordering a body without a head, if that is your preference. I own one Junior, a Minoru, who I thought was older, but she is from 2014 after all. Huh! Hopefully someone else will have an older Minoruworld and can offer some insight about your question! Here is a photo of my Baked Shiny Fairy's default faceup! I love the orangey colors a lot! I assembled the body but her legs are a bit floppy. I couldn't pull the strings tight enough because I hurt the thumb of my dominant hand at work last night. I will have to tighten up that elastic a little bit later. The assembly kit seems to have been short by one small s-hook, so that is the final hangup to having her all complete. That's such a minor thing, I wouldn't even call it a complaint. She came so early I don't have any of her clothes ready yet! But how could one complain about that either? Positively thrilled!
@Lokinta the default face up really looks nice on the baked skin! oh I wish I had a doll in that gorgeous color !!! I have no experience with the junior body, but I did play with my new Shiny fairy body enough to do a little review. Can't figure out if I need to tighten the elastic a bit more or not,, but you can read my impressions on it here: Review: BF Shiny Fairy body – Fantasy woods
@Lokinta thank you for the welcome:-) once upon a time I was more active in the old Minoruworld Junior thread, but then I sold my Minoru junior girl in 2011 :-( Anyway, it is great to be back! Thanks for clarifiying - it helps a lot! I love your baked version doll. Amazing color!! @Ellesmera Thank you! I read the review of the SF body, it looks really cute! And as I remember the Junior body, it looks about the same when it comes to pose ability. Perhaps even better:-)
She's gorgeous! Which sculpt is she. Did you request for her to be sent out loose or are they not putting the dolls together now?
Thanks! I think so too, and can take credit for none of it so far! ;D I ordered her without the assembly option on the order placement page. It was a $20 additional charge for assembly, and since I kind of know how to do it, I opted to put that money toward other items for her. When I ordered a TinyFairy back in February, the option of assembly came with a carrying case. In this ShinyFairy order, though, a case was not part of the assembly option. There was no motive for me to spend those extra dollars. I also agree with everything in @Ellesmera 's review, right on! Nice little write-up! As always ^_^ The Junior body which I have seemed more poseable than the ShinyFairy body in my mind, so I checked it out. As far as joint mobility and angles: • Their shoulders, hips, elbows, knees, hands, and torso joints appear to have completely the same maximum angles and range. • ShinyFairy looks up higher than Junior (this may be due to wear on my Junior, the difference is nearly negligible) • ShinyFairy can raise her toes higher than Junior (Again, it is a slight difference of only a couple of degrees) My hypothesis is that Junior's longer arms, hands, torso, legs, and feet make their poses look and feel more dramatic than the short-limbed Shiny. The joint structure and functionality of each of the two bodies is rather similar, it's only that extra length that makes their motions bigger.
@Lokinta The carrying bag was included in the assembly option. But since I chose that option I didn't get the doll box and pillows.
Huh! I didn't get a box either, just the cardboard shipping box and bubble wrap. I wonder how people get the box, then! Had I known the carrier was included I would have bought one..
Is that assembly or not assmebled option just for baked dolls? When I ordered my normal skin May there was no such option. @Lokinta thanks for sharing your thoughts on the junior body!
