BJDC 2022 Austin TX Aug 18-20

    1. I’m going to be attended BJDC for the first time ever and I was wondering what the Vendor room was like for others who have been before.

      Is it a mix of stores and people who craft selling their bjd items? Do people go to sell their collection?

    2. Vendors are typically companies or artisans, the sort of people who make or distribute stuff to sell for a living. Some cons have a swap/sales room for collectors to sell/trade with other collectors.

    3. Nice, I'm interested to see what it's like, since it's supposedly one of the biggest in Texas. I'm hoping for a swap/sales room, I didn't even know if that was something that was done, but it sounds like a neat way to do trades. :)

    4. I went last year and a few non consecutive prior years! It's normally in a large hotel ballroom with dozens of tables laid out in rows. There were a mixture of artisan vendors with handmade prodcuts, and some larger retail stores like Doll Peddlar.
      The larger stores were selling new dolls, and a couple of the booth sellers had a few secondhand dolls. The majority of the vendors were selling wigs, clothes, eyes, props, stuff like that.
      I haven't seen any swap meets at BJDC personally, but it's possible they'll do one this year. The activities for attendees are usually crafting workshops and doll costume contests.

    5. I would love a swap/sell meet.

      And this will be my first BJD con! I'm so excited because I had to miss the one in Dallas because of my baby (human child not dolly). She will be 1 that weekend so I am getting to leave her with her Dad and siblings.

    6. awesome! We’ll both be newbies ^_^ Even if it’s just things like clothes, wigs, and eyes, it’ll be a treat for me to see this stuff in person! I’ve never bought anything doll related in person, always online, so it’ll be so fun to browse.

There's nothing on the schedule for a swap/sell meet, but I think it would be okay if we held an impromptu one in one of the public lounge spaces- so long as we make it clear this is not an event held/sponsored by BJDC. I've got some spare eyes/wigs/clothing I would love to sell in person instead of dealing with the post.

    9. Hiya, this will be my first BJD con too! I'm especially excited to see these dolls in person - gotta know to what extent I'm getting myself into. Wouldn't mind doing a DoA meet up, I find cons get even more fun when I start making friends.

    10. I'm going to be here as well, and it's my first time going to any live BJD-related event! I'm just going on Saturday for when the sales floor is open to the public, as I couldn't swing the full tickets (I also didn't want to make my partner sit through 3 days of BJD related things when he's not personally interested xD). I'll be bringing my doll, and hope to at least get him a shirt that doesn't look like a bed sheet on him (who knew that "too big" was a thing even for the 73cm dolls!).

      I'd love to meet some of the people from DoA if at all possible!

    11. I will try to make it on Saturday too! I'm taking the rail, so won't be there until closer to 11:30am since that's the earliest my stop will get me downtown. I've never been to a doll convention or a doll meetup for that matter. :whee:

      I'm trying to decide which doll to bring... Walking 15 minutes from the train station to the convention in the Texas sun :horror: makes me just want to bring my PukiFee, but I want to shop with one of my main crew who are mostly 60+cm!
