BJD Unfinished Kits

Jan 11, 2010

    1. I'm not quite sure where this thread should be, if it's in the wrong place, feel free to tell me ^_^.

Anyway, I'm looking for a bjd unfinished kit, as I want to put my next doll together myself. Anyone know the best place to buy them?

      MSD size preferably.

      Thanks for all the help!

    2. Mmmm, the only thing I can think of are the U-noa kits that you can get through Crescent Shop when they have the orders up for them. http://www.crescent-shop.com/

Hmm.. and there are some threads for 'how to buy a U-noa'. I'm not aware of any other unfinished kits, but I am curious to know now, too :)

    3. There are also the Volks MSD Kits. The dolls are sold unstrung, unpainted, and without sanding. They're available to order all the time from Volks. Volks USA provides pretty detailed tutorials on how to put them together on their blog; I can attest to the fact that stringing a Volks MSD is really not difficult.

You can see them here: http://volksusa.com/super-dollfie-mini-super-dollfie.html

    4. Angelregion had an unfinished kit sale in Dec., and they have MSDs and SDs.

    5. Blue Fairy www.bluefairyint.com under option parts sells unpainted heads and unstrung bodies which are pretty much the equivalent of kits. You can also get a painted head and unstrung body if you prefer. Unfortunately not all their molds and bodies are currently in stock. BAck in 2006 before they offered the option of paying $20 more for a Blossom body, I got 2 dolls as option parts and it was very easy to string them.

Other companies sometimes offer kits for certain time periods (like Angelregion as stated above) I know Souldoll has in the past, but I'm not sure they've done so recently.

But Blue Fairy and Volks are two of the only ones I can think of that nearly always have unstrung dolls in stock not for limited order periods only.

    6. Have you maybe tried MinoruWorld? Their junior line is available in unassembled kits ^^

    7. I'm sure that most companies would happily send you an unfinished, unstrung doll kit if you messaged them :) A lot of them do sell blank dolls and for most seam sanding isn't standard (you usually have to pay extra) so really all you'd need to do is ask them to ship the doll unstrung ^^
